    Latinos in Southwest Missouri : Capturing the American Dream through Farming

    The "Latinos in Missouri" occasional paper series grew from the writing experiences of graduate students in Rural Sociology 8287: The Sociology of Globalization.Includes bibliographical references.Even as farm ownership is declining in the US as a whole, an increasing number of Latinos are entering the farming business. In fact, Latinos are the fastest growing ethnic group of farm owner/operators in Missouri and in the US as a whole. This paper examines the growing phenomenon of Latino-owned farms in Missouri through the use of 2002 Census of Agriculture figures and a 2004 survey of Latino farm owners in Missouri. Interviews were conducted with Latino dairy producers to give greater depth to the census and survey figures. Particular attention was paid to Latino access to capital, a significant barrier to entry in capital-intensive farming operations. Questions focused on Latino farmers' needs for debt financing, as well as experiences with local financial institutions, including banks and/or credit unions, the Farm Service Agency (including the former FmHA-Farmers Home Administration), and Farm Credit Services.Occasional Paper Series Developed with Support from the Cambio Center

    Muchas veces, es necesario dejar el hogar sólo durante horas, días y en ocasiones, periodos más largos, lo que genera en los propietarios y residentes, una inseguridad constante por robos, incendios, inundaciones, corto circuitos, escapes de gas, entre otros. Estos eventos ocurren por algunos motivos muy comunes como descuidos al dejar ventanas sin seguro, llaves mal cerradas, luces prendidas además de fugas, delincuentes, plagas, entre otros. Cada una de estas causas y eventos, son previsibles con sistemas tecnológicos disponibles en el mercado actual e incluso implementados en viviendas colombianas de forma parcial, que no poseen una interfaz con el usuario apropiada además de limitaciones de distancia para ser detectadas por el usuario. Tomando como base el proyecto de los ingenieros Juan Sebastián Marulanda y Juan Fernando Campo se requiere un sistema Scada básico de ahorro energético, confort y seguridad, que pueda ser implementado en Colombia con un protocolo funcional, estable y práctico y de fácil mantenimiento y accesibilidad

    在分布式数据采集与监测系统中,往往需要实时采集远程被控对象的各种参数,并与上位控制中心进行数据交换。本文介绍了基于M ODBU S通讯协议的信号采集卡硬件和软件设计。其硬件主要分为信号采集和通信2部分。本卡主要采集各种数字量,如按键是否按下,继电器是否闭合等。由于PC机串行口最大传输距离仅为50~100 ft,因此采用RS485总线实现数据的远程传输。软件部分采用C语言编写下位机程序,而上位机界面的搭建选用VB。该采集卡可以运用到许多实际的工控场合。In distributed data collection and supervision systems,it is needed to collect the parameters of the controlled object and exchange datas with master control center.The paper introduces hardware and software design of signal collection card which is based on MODBUS protocol.The hardware is mainly composed by two parts,signal collection and communication.This card mainly collects digital datas,such as states of buttons or relays,and so on.Because the max transport distance of serial port of PC is only 50~100 ft,so RS485 Bus is used to realize the remote data transmission.The software of slave computer is programmed by C;while the interface of master computer is built by VB.The card could be applied to many industrial control occasions.福建省青年科技人才创新项目(2004J020

    介绍了基于Modbus通讯协议的高精度模拟量采集卡的软硬件设计与制作;由于采用了高精度A/D转换芯片CS5532,该采集卡可以通过软件分时的方法采集8路24位模拟量信号,特别适用于高精度工业现场数据采集;同时,采集卡使用基于Modbus协议的RS-485总线通信方式,实现了数据的远程通信;系统软件采用MCS-51汇编语言和C语言混合编写,既可提高开发效率又保证了A/D转换的精确性。Design and manufacture of a high precision anal og -data-acquisition card is introduced. This card provides 8 analog input channels , using 24bit high precision AD converter CS5532, so it can can be smoothly appl ied to high precision industrial field. At the same time, Modbus protocol based RS-485 bus were used to achieve long-distance communication.     Designing Hierarchical Survivable Networks

    As the computer, communication, and entertainment industries begin to integrate phone, cable, and video services and to invest in new technologies such as fiber optic cables, interruptions in service can cause considerable customer dissatisfaction and even be catastrophic. In this environment, network providers want to offer high levels of servicein both serviceability (e.g., high bandwidth) and survivability (failure protection)-and to segment their markets, providing better technology and more robust configurations to certain key customers. We study core models with three types of customers (critical, primary, and secondary) and two types of services/technologies (primary and secondary). The network must connect primary customers using primary (high bandwidth) services and, additionally, contain a back-up path connecting certain critical primary customers. Secondary customers require only single connectivity to other customers and can use either primary or secondary facilities. We propose a general multi-tier survivable network design model to configure cost effective networks for this type of market segmentation. When costs are triangular, we show how to optimally solve single-tier subproblems with two critical customers as a matroid intersection problem. We also propose and analyze the worst-case performance of tailored heuristics for several special cases of the two-tier model. Depending upon the particular problem setting, the heuristics have worst-case performance ratios ranging between 1.25 and 2.6. We also provide examples to show that the performance ratios for these heuristics are the best possible

    AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) pengembangan media pembelajaran, (2) unjuk kerja dari media pembelajaran, (3) tingkat kelayakan media pembelajaran transmisi data antara Remote and Master Terminal Unit berbasis protokol Modbus untuk mendukung mata kuliah Pemrograman Aplikasi Industri. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan metode pengembangan ADDIE. Subjek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik Prodi Pendidikan Teknik Mekatronika FT UNY. Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) pengembangan media pembelajaran transmisi data antara Remote and Master Terminal Unit berbasis protokol Modbus untuk mendukung mata kuliah Pemrograman Aplikasi Industri, (2) media pembelajaran ini memiliki kemampuan mentransmisikan 35 data sensor dan aktuator dengan kecepatan maksimal 0.6 detik menggunakan protokol Modbus, (3) tingkat kelayakan media pembelajaran berdasarkan penilaian ahli materi dengan presentase 90%, penilaian ahli media dengan presentase 95%, penilaian pengguna awal dengan presentase 87.8%, dan penilaian oleh peserta didik dengan presentase 84.4% sehingga media pembelajaran transmisi data antara Remote and Master Terminal Unit berbasis protokol Modbus sangat layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran Pemrograman Aplikasi Industri.Kata kunci: : Media pembelajaran, Protokol Modbus, Pemrograman Aplikasi Industri     Abstract This research aims to find out: (1) the development of learning media, (2) the performance of learning media, (3) the feasibility level of learning media data transmission between Remote and Master Terminal Unit based on Modbus protocol to support the lecture of Industrial Application Programming. This research is a research and development model with ADDIE method. The subjects of this study are students of Mechatronics Engineering Education Department of FT UNY. The result of this research are (1) development of learning media of data transmission between Remote and Master Terminal Unit based on Modbus protocol to support the lecture of Industrial Application Programming, (2) this learning media has the ability to transmit 35 sensor and actuator data with a maximum speed of 0.6 seconds using Modbus protocol, (3) feasibility level of learning media based on material expert assessment with percentage 90%, media expert assessment with percentage 95%, initial user assessment with percentage 87.8%, and assesment by learnes with percentage 84.4% so that learning media of data transmission between Remote and Master Terminal Unit based on Modbus protocol is very feasible to be used as learning media of Industrial Application Programming lecture. Keywords: Learning Media, Modbus protocol, Programming of industrial application

    Higher Tannaka duality

    Dans cette thèse, nous prouvons un théorème de dualité de Tannaka pour les (infini, 1)-catégories. La dualité classique de Tannaka est une dualité entre certains groupes et catégories monoïdales munies d'une structure particulière. La dualité de Tannaka supérieure renvoie, elle, à une dualité entre certains champs en groupes dérivés et certaines (infini, 1)-catégories monoïdales munies d'une structure particulière. Cette dualité supérieure est définie sur les anneaux dérivés et englobe la théorie de dualité classique. Nous comparons la dualité de Tannaka supérieure à la théorie de dualité de Tannaka classique et portons une attention particulière à la dualité de Tannaka sur les corps. Dans ce dernier cas, cette théorie a une relation étroite avec la théorie des types d'homotopie schématique de Toën. Nous décrivons également trois applications de la théorie : les complexes parfaits, les motifs et leur analogue non-commutatif dû à Kontsevich.In this thesis we prove a Tannaka duality theorem for (infini, 1)-categories. Classical Tannaka duality is a duality between certain groups and certain monoidal categories endowed with particular structure. Higher Tannaka duality refers to a duality between certain derived group stacks and certain monoidal (infini, 1)-categories endowed with particular structure. This higher duality theorem is defined over derived rings and subsumes the classical statement. We compare the higher Tannaka duality to the classical theory and pay particular attention to higher Tannaka duality over fields. In the later case this theory has a close relationship with the theory of schematic homotopy types of Toën. We also describe three applications of our theory : perfect complexes and that of both motives and its non-commutative ana­logue due to Kontsevich
