    Naturwall© is a research conducted by Politecnico of Turin (DAD) (under supervision of Prof.G.Callegari) and a local PMI support (Natural House, Castellamonte), promoted by Giovanni Goria Foundation "Master dei Talenti" programme. It consists in an innovative energy saving system by using wood multifunctional components for existent buildings . The goal of the project is the refurbishment of the existing building stock which were built from 1950's to 1980's. This stock is not equipped with recent energy requirements. The project aims to create a representative model of solution that will be promoted in Italy. In the field of renovation and refurbishment high energy results and greenhouse gases reduction could be achieved by using multifunctional facade system

    Reclamation of a city involves reusing abandoned buildings in conjunction with new construction. These negative spaces of disuse generated by a changing infrastructure are often overlooked or destroyed. If they are instead viewed as positive spaces for reuse, a city’s infrastructure and its residents can adapt and grow. Recognizing these newly positive spaces produces a chance to examine what social needs of the community are not being met. Pushing the modern concept of the hybrid building creates a unique opportunity; flexibility of use derived from flexibility of space. A community building can best serve the social needs of its residents by having the ability to adapt to changes in those needs

    A fast and accurate basis pursuit denoising algorithm with application to super-resolving tomographic SAR

    L1L_1 regularization is used for finding sparse solutions to an underdetermined linear system. As sparse signals are widely expected in remote sensing, this type of regularization scheme and its extensions have been widely employed in many remote sensing problems, such as image fusion, target detection, image super-resolution, and others and have led to promising results. However, solving such sparse reconstruction problems is computationally expensive and has limitations in its practical use. In this paper, we proposed a novel efficient algorithm for solving the complex-valued L1L_1 regularized least squares problem. Taking the high-dimensional tomographic synthetic aperture radar (TomoSAR) as a practical example, we carried out extensive experiments, both with simulation data and real data, to demonstrate that the proposed approach can retain the accuracy of second order methods while dramatically speeding up the processing by one or two orders.     For the first time since 1954, the City of Buffalo New York is undertaking a comprehensive review and complete overhaul of its zoning code, the result of which has been popularly dubbed “the Green Code.” The City, particularly Mayor Brown and the leadership and staff at the Office of Strategic Planning are to be commended for undertaking this important task. While there are many positive aspects of this effort, some changes are needed in order to ensure that the final zoning code recognizes, respects, and protects the high quality of our existing building stock and the unique and varied historic character of our neighborhoods and public spaces
