European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) skin and scale transcriptomes
Fish skin and their appendages, the mineralized scales, are important organs for protection and homeostasis, but little is known about their specific transcript or protein repertoire. This study used RNA-seq to generate transcriptome data for skin and scales in the European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax), an important species for fisheries and aquaculture. RNA was extracted from the pectoral skin and from scales collected above the midline of immature one-year old sea bass. More than 20 x 10(6) reads were obtained for each tissue, using RNA-seq Illumina technology. De novo assembly resulted in 31,842 transcripts (of 500 base pairs or greater) for skin and 20,423 transcripts for scale. This dataset provides a useful resource for both aquaculture and fish conservation studies and for research into the physiology and molecular biology of fish skin and scales. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. Spatial price integration and price transmission among major fish markets in India
The domestic fish marketing system in India deserves to be developed into a strong network of efficiently functioning markets, as more than three-fourths of the country’s total fish production is channellised domestically. With the unleashing of a new global economic order, the efficiency of markets needs to be dealt with utmost importance. The degree of spatial market integration and price transmission between the major coastal markets in India have been reported using monthly retail price data on important marine fish species. It has been observed that degree of integration and rate of price transmission differ according to species. The highest integration has been observed in mackerel, probably because of its affordability to all income classes, resulting in a wide consumer base. Among various markets, a near full transmission of prices has been observed between Kerala and Tamil Nadu markets, except in the case of shrimp. Even though a major landing centre, the price movement in Maharashtra market has been found independent of other markets. The spatial market integration between major shrimp markets in the country has appeared to be the least, possibly because of its greater market share outside the country. The study has suggested to devise strategies to bring about greater integration between these markets so that both fishermen and the fish-consuming community in the country are benefitted.Marketing,

Pasir Fish Landing Base Kebumen has a potential to be developed into fishing port seen by the huge potential of fisheries resources. By that condition of fishery resources, to increase the role of Pasir Fish Landing Base by fishery resources existing, it is necessary to research the development strategy to assessing Pasir Fish Landing Base. The purpose of this research is to determine the condition of fishery resources at Pasir Fish Landing Base, to analysis the availability and facility utilization rate, and to analysis development strategy seen from Pasir Fish Landing Base fishery resources. The method which used in this research is descriptive survey and analysis data such as the utilization rate analysis, and SWOT analysis. The result of research showed that the condition of fishery resources in Pasir Fish Landing Base is still very high. Fishery resources in Pasir Fish Landing Base include the potential fish catches, land area, the amount of fishing gear, fishing fleet, and the amount of active fisherman. The facility at Pasir Fish Landing Base still very lacking, because there hasn't been basic facilities such as a piers, breakwater, and navigation channel which is the main facility for fishing activities. Based on calculating of the level of utilization facility, TPI building has an optimization levels was 66%, extensive parking area was 37%, and port pool was 6%. The SWOT analysis calculation result obtained by -0,14 ; 0,89 so the implementation is using quadrant III or Weakness-Opportunity strategy
Small Community Level Social Accounting Matrices and their Application to Determining Marine Resource Dependency
Social accounting matrices (SAMs) are constructed for two communities on the West Coast which have previously been classified as natural resource dependent; Westport, Washington and Newport, Oregon. The SAMs are constructed in an innovative way that allows for the economic dependency and utilization of natural resources, especially marine resources, to be examined in detail. The SAM utilizes data from a mix of publically available secondary sources and data collected directly from local governments. The SAMs are then subjected to an economic base analysis to develop indices of economic dependence. The results of this study indicate that while fishing and fish processing are no longer a major source of gross measures of output, employment, wages, or gross regional product (GRP) in any state or even county on the West Coast; from an economic export income perspective cities such as Westport, Washington are heavily dependent on these industries for their economic base.Marine resource dependency, social accounting matrix, economic base, Community/Rural/Urban Development, Environmental Economics and Policy, Research Methods/ Statistical Methods, R11, R15, Q22,
The precision of international market sampling for North Sea herring and its influence on assessment
Market sampling is a key source of data for catch-at-age-based assessment. Little has been documented about the influence of potential error in these data on the precision of assessments and the management information they produce. This paper presents the results of a study of the precision of North Sea herring fish market sampling carried out by the UK, Denmark and the Netherlands. Data from eight years of market sampling were analysed to obtain the precision of estimated numbers-at-age in the catch. The market sample data was then used to estimate 1000 realisations of the international catch-at-age and mean weightsat- age in the catch. Three methods of estimating the variability of missing catch data were used and three options for the catch-at-age matrices were computed. These base datasets were utilised to obtain 1000 assessments conditional on the ICA (Integrated Catch-at-age Analysis) model. From the outcome of these assessments the influence of the market sampling programmes on the management of the stock are presented as 95␌onfidence intervals on the main management parameters (recruitment, SSB, F0-1 and F2-6). In addition, the influence of missing data is estimated. The implications of our conclusions on the requirements from a market sampling programme are discusse

The result showed that the highest polymorphism and heterozigosity was on Kelabau Sintang and the lowest was on Kelabau Kapuas Hulu. The closest genetic distance value were between Kelabau Pontianak-Kapuas Hulu (0.5351) and the furthest were between Kelabau Pontianak-Sintang (0.6852)
Produktifitas Primer Dan Kelimpahan Ikan Layang (Decapterus Spp.) Hubungannya Dengan Fenomena Enso, Di Selat Makassar Bagian Selatan
Two species of scad fish (Decapterus russelli and D. macrosoma) is a major catch of purse seine in almost fishing area, its contributed approximately 58%. Production data of scad fish is based on catch data of purse seine which having fishing base in Java (2006-2007). Chlorophyll-a concentration, sea surface temperature and Photosyntetic Available Radiation (PAR) was derived from satellite imagery AQUA MODIS. That data is used to estimate primary productivity with Vertically Generalized Production Model (VGPM). The effect of ENSO (El Niño-Southern Oscillation) to scad fish fisheries also discussed. This research is aimed to get information about the effects of ENSO to primary productivity and abundance of scads in the southern part of Makassar Strait. Results showed scad fish abundance in the waters of the southern Makassar Strait fluctuates according to season, the peak abundance lasted for three months between November to January. Utilization of scad fish as 3th tropic level component showed percentage of utilization is 8,93% in 2006 and 14,59% in 2007. AQUA MODIS image data showed the highest chlorophyll concentrations occurred between February to April each year. While the highest sea surface temperature occurs in November-January period. There are indication that ENSO have indirect effect to chlorophyll-a consentrations and sea surface temperature. Both of them having relations with scad fish abundance in Makassar Strait
Mean sze of the landed catch: a fishery community index for trend assessment in exploited marine ecosystems
Based on fisheries landings data I propose the size-base index (community level) Mean Size of the Landing Catch (MSL). The MSL index was estimated based on high taxonomic resolution data available from auctions (species level) and demographic data acquired during the auction, namely species landed by "size-box" categories, which is assessed mandatorily in all EU members state for fisheries quality and statistic proposes. The MSL was calculated from the average inferred size-box categories of a species weighted by their annual catch. The use of MSL allows determining inter-annual changes in the size of the catch when weighted data is available from the fishery. Using the Portuguese fisheries landing data as an example, the MSL revealed that the landing yield of large fish linearly declined over time while the catch of small fishes increased (i.e., survivors to old age was reduced by fishing). The MSL can be easily used to assess trends in marine exploited commercial communities (community rather than population level) and is fully applicable with any species-size data source (e.g., scientific surveys, visual census data). The MSL can also be applied as a key indicator within the new ecosystem-based Marine Policy Framework Strategy (ecosystem approach to fisheries), which required the use of size-based indicators for the assessment of fisheries trends in exploited marine communities.CLIMFISH project A framework for assess vulnerability of coastal fisheries to climate change in Portuguese coast - Portugal 2020
