Homo-monoterpenic compounds as chemical markers for Cydonia oblonga Miller

    No full text
8 pages, 3 tables, 2 figures. In the course of a phytochemical study of Cydonia oblonga Miller, a homo-monoterpenic compound (trans-9-amino-8-hydroxy-2,7-dimethylnona-2,4-dienoic acid glucopyranosyl ester) was isolated and identified by hydrolytic and spectroscopic means (nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectroscopy and UV). Two other chemically related compounds were also detected. Subsequently, these compounds were quantified by HPLC/DAD (diode-array detector) in several pulps, peels and jams. These compounds are described for the first time in nature and can be used as a tool for the characterization of quince and its jam.Branca M.
