7 páginas, 7 figurasA synthetic route to attain photonic multilayers that presents controlled porosity only at the middle-layer level is shown. The spectral resonance associated with this porous layer shows strong sensitivity to the presence of vapors adsorbed or condensed within the void network, providing a potentially relevant material for gas detection. The importance of the interplay between pore and probe-molecule diameters is studied and its implications in size-selective detection are discussed. We thank the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation for funding provided under grants MAT2008–02166 and CONSOLIDER HOPE CSD2007–00007, to Junta de Andalucía for grant FQM3579, and to ANPCyT (PICT-34518, PICT-00335, and PAE-37063/PME-00038).
