Local Decoders for the 2D and 4D Toric Code
We analyze the performance of decoders for the 2D and 4D toric code which are
local by construction. The 2D decoder is a cellular automaton decoder
formulated by Harrington which explicitly has a finite speed of communication
and computation. For a model of independent and errors and faulty
syndrome measurements with identical probability we report a threshold of
for this Harrington decoder. We implement a decoder for the 4D toric
code which is based on a decoder by Hastings arXiv:1312.2546 . Incorporating a
method for handling faulty syndromes we estimate a threshold of for
the same noise model as in the 2D case. We compare the performance of this
decoder with a decoder based on a 4D version of Toom's cellular automaton rule
as well as the decoding method suggested by Dennis et al.

Enhanced blind decoding of Tardos codes with new map-based functions
This paper presents a new decoder for probabilistic binary traitor tracing
codes under the marking assumption. It is based on a binary hypothesis testing
rule which integrates a collusion channel relaxation so as to obtain numerical
and simple accusation functions. This decoder is blind as no estimation of the
collusion channel prior to the accusation is required. Experimentations show
that using the proposed decoder gives better performance than the well-known
symmetric version of the Tardos decoder for common attack channels
Density Evolution and Functional Threshold for the Noisy Min-Sum Decoder
This paper investigates the behavior of the Min-Sum decoder running on noisy
devices. The aim is to evaluate the robustness of the decoder in the presence
of computation noise, e.g. due to faulty logic in the processing units, which
represents a new source of errors that may occur during the decoding process.
To this end, we first introduce probabilistic models for the arithmetic and
logic units of the the finite-precision Min-Sum decoder, and then carry out the
density evolution analysis of the noisy Min-Sum decoder. We show that in some
particular cases, the noise introduced by the device can help the Min-Sum
decoder to escape from fixed points attractors, and may actually result in an
increased correction capacity with respect to the noiseless decoder. We also
reveal the existence of a specific threshold phenomenon, referred to as
functional threshold. The behavior of the noisy decoder is demonstrated in the
asymptotic limit of the code-length -- by using "noisy" density evolution
equations -- and it is also verified in the finite-length case by Monte-Carlo
simulation.Comment: 46 pages (draft version); extended version of the paper with same

MIMO-OFDM Optimal Decoding and Achievable Information Rates Under Imperfect Channel Estimation
Optimal decoding of bit interleaved coded modulation (BICM) MIMO-OFDM where
an imperfect channel estimate is available at the receiver is investigated.
First, by using a Bayesian approach involving the channel a posteriori density,
we derive a practical decoding metric for general memoryless channels that is
robust to the presence of channel estimation errors. Then, we evaluate the
outage rates achieved by a decoder that uses our proposed metric. The
performance of the proposed decoder is compared to the classical mismatched
decoder and a theoretical decoder defined as the best decoder in the presence
of imperfect channel estimation. Numerical results over Rayleigh block fading
MIMO-OFDM channels show that the proposed decoder outperforms mismatched
decoding in terms of bit error rate and outage capacity without introducing any
additional complexity
Miniaturization of flight deflection measurement system
A flight deflection measurement system is disclosed including a hybrid microchip of a receiver/decoder. The hybrid microchip decoder is mounted piggy back on the miniaturized receiver and forms an integral unit therewith. The flight deflection measurement system employing the miniaturized receiver/decoder can be used in a wind tunnel. In particular, the miniaturized receiver/decoder can be employed in a spin measurement system due to its small size and can retain already established control surface actuation functions
