Image fusion in the JPEG 2000 domain
This paper presents a novel approach to image fusion in the JPEG 2000 domain. In this scheme, compressed images are fused without the need for full decompression. The proposed method can be integrated with the existing JPEG 2000 tools. It offers several benefits: it avoids error propagation, allows for the development of error correction and protection mechanisms and reduces computational effort. This paper also presents a comparison with commonly used algorithms for image fusion and studies their performance in the presence of compression and transmission losses. The results show that the performance of the proposed method is superior to currently available techniques under noisy condition
Exploring motivation and clil: a literature review
In this article we intend to explore the history of motivation whithin the field of second foreign language learning. To this end, we will analyse in detail the three most important models: the Socio-educational Model, the Theory of Self-Determination and the L2 Motivational Self System. We will also analyse the relationship between motivation and CLIL, concluding that this approach is very motivating for such students, since they are more motivated than their counterparts who study English in a more traditional way (Doiz, Lasagabaster & Sierra, 2014, Seikkula-Leino, 2007).A través de este artículo se pretende realizar un recorrido por la historia de la motivación en el ámbito del aprendizaje de una segunda lengua o de una lengua extranjera.
Role of selected coal and petroleum based additives in low and high temperature co pyrolysis with coal blends
Relevance of the composition of municipal plastic wastes for metallurgical coke production
This study is concerned with the effects of the composition of mixed plastic wastes on the thermoplastic properties of coal, the generation of coking pressure and the quality of the resulting cokes in a movable wall oven at semipilot scale. The mixed plastic wastes were selected to cover a wide spectrum in the relative proportions of high- and low-density polyethylenes (HDPE and LDPE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). From the results it was deduced that the reduction in Gieseler fluidity in the coal blend is linked to the total amount of polyolefins in the waste. It was also found that these thermoplastics increase the pressure exerted against the wall in the course of the coking process and that coke quality is maintained or even improved. However, when the level of aromatic polymers such PS and PET are increased at the expense of polyolefins, the coking pressure decreases. Thus, the amount of aromatic polymers such as PS and PET in the waste is critical, not only for controlling Gieseler fluidity and coking pressure, but also for avoiding deterioration in coke quality (reactivity towards CO CRI and mechanical strength of the partially-gasified coke CSR). An amount of polyolefins in the waste lower than 65 wt.% for a secure coking pressure is established

Teaching english to mixed-ability secondary students through e-tandem
This paper will point out how language and culture can be taught through collaborative work among mixed-ability British and Spanish secondary students belonging to different social backgrounds. We will illustrate how they deal with several topics using e-tandem and autonomous collaborative work and we will discuss the results of their work comparing both groups. Finally, we will refer to the language and cultural exchange we have established thanks to this e-tandem partnership.
