    CARAMANIAN ORTHODOX TURKS WHO IMMIGRATED TO GREECE FROM MUSTAFAPASHA BECAUSE OF THE POPULATION EXCHANGE

    Caramanians, who were Turkish-speaking Orthodox Christians and used Greekalphabet in their writings, lived especially in Anatolia (Karaman, Konya, Kayseri,Isparta, Nevsehir, Nigde, Aksaray, Burdur, Aydin and Karadeniz etc.), İstanbul,Syria and Balkan area. The Caramanian Orthodox Turks lived generally in the Cappadocia Region. Caramanian Orthodox Turks, who had lived in Cappadocia(Nevsehir, Urgup, Sinasos), Derinkuyu (Suvermez, Yazıhoyuk, Zile), Niğde (Golcuk,Misti/Misli Fertek, Sementra, Andaval, Haskoy, Aravan/Kumluca,Kurdanos/Hamamli, Bor), Aksaray (Guzelyurt, Uluagac), Kayseri (Incesu,Zincidere, Pinarbasi, Endurluk, Develi) were subjected to the forced emigration to Greece as of May 1st, 1923 in accordance with the "Convention and Protocol relating to Exchange of Greek and Turkish People" signed on January 30th, 1923 between the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and the Greek Parliament. Today,Caramanian Orthodox Turks living in such settlements like Thessaloniki, Larissa,Eviya Island (Prokopi, Neasinasos, Neapoli, Neagelveri, Cappadocia) Athens, Preaand Halkida have rich oral and written cultural products. Mustaphapasha (Sinasos)town is one of the centers of science, art, commerce and religion of Caramanian Orthodox Turks in the Cappadocia Region. Caramanian Ortodox Turks living in this town have been settled in different regions of Greece as a result of the population exchange. This paper deals with the current social life, ways of protecting their cultures, associations and foundations, customs and traditions, folksongs, poems, lullabies, threnodies etc. by providing information about the history and anthropology of Caramanian Orthodox Turks emigrating to Greece from Mustafa pasha

    The use of Concordance for teaching Vocabulary: A data-driven learning approach

    AbstractLexical knowledge and opportunities or tools for learning new vocabulary words have increasingly become important over the last four decades. But, using concordance as a new tool for this purpose has not gained much attention. The present research, therefore, aims to find out, if any, whether concordance as a reference tool has an impact on teaching or learning vocabulary in an EFL setting. As an experimental study, this research involved two groups of students conveniently. One was experimental group; the other control. While the former was exposed to electronic concordance program (COCA), the latter was controlled by using traditional vocabulary instruction. Pre/post-test results showed that the class receiving vocabulary through concordance performed much more than the control class which received traditional vocabulary instruction. And further analysis revealed that the performance was statistically significant. In addition, the interviews randomly held with the students also supported the quantitative results. Some implications are given and a variety of suggestions made for language teachers at the end

    Günümüzde kitle iletişim araçlarının enformasyon ve telekomünikasyon hizmetlerini gerçekleştirirken kendi aralarında da yöndeşmeleri, medyanın çoğalması ve çeşitlenmesinden ötede sosyo-ekonomik ilişkilerdeki derinleşmeyi gündeme getirmektedir. Yeni dağıtım teknolojilerinin gelişmesi ile karşılıklı etkileşime (interactivity) dayanan kitle iletişim araçları öne çıkarken; iletişim kanallarının ve biçimlerinin ise uluslararası boyutta birbirleri ile yakınlaştığı görülmüştür. Zaman ve mekan kısıtlılıklarını aştığı söylenerek sosyal ilişkilerdeki önemi sık sık vurgulanan iletişim teknolojilerinin, üretim ve tüketim kalıplarını yıkan yeni bir yaşam biçiminin habercisi olduğu tartışmalarda sıklıkla ileri sürülmektedir. Bu çalışmada iletişim teknolojilerinde yöndeşmenin toplumdaki Sosyo–ekonomik ilişkiler üzerindeki etkilerini tartışılırken yeni medyanın varsayılan belirgin karakteristikleri olan dijital birbirine yakınlaşma, çoktan çoğa iletişim, interaktiflik, globallik, sanallık, gibi unsurlar çerçevesinde ele alınacaktır

    Bu araştırmada, karma yemlerde ham protein ve ham selüloz miktarlarının yem mikroskopisi ve kimyasal metotlarla belirlenerek; yem mikroskopisi metodunun kimyasal metotlara ne kadar yaklaştığını ve yerine kullanılıp kullanılamayacağının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Stereo mikroskopla karma yemlerin içindeki hammaddelerin yüzdeleri tahmin edilerek ham protein ve ham selüloz oranları saptanmış ve kimyasal metotlarla bulunan ham protein ve ham selüloz sonuçlarıyla karşılaştırılmıştır. Sonuç olarak bu iki metotla yapılan ham protein analiz sonuçları arasında istatistiki olarak fark olmadığı belirlenmiş ve yem mikroskopisiyle tahmin metodunun ham protein analizi için kimyasal metotların yerine kullanılabileceği tespit edilmiştir. Ham selüloz analizinde ise sonuçlar arasındaki farkın istatistiki olarak P<0,01 düzeyinde önemli olduğu ve yem mikroskopisiyle tahmin metodunun ham selüloz analizi için kimyasal metotların yerine kullanılamayacağı tespit edilmiştir.The aim of this study to determine the amount of crude protein and crude fiber in mixed feeds using the methods feed microscopy and chemical methods. By determining the results to indicate that feeds microscopy method approximately how much closer to chemical methods and if it can be used instead of this method. The percentages of raw materials of crude protein and crude fiber in mixed feeds were determined with stereomicroscop and compared with obtained results of chemical methods. As a result there is no difference statistically between obtained results of two methods and feed microscopy estimating method can be used instead of chemical methods is what the desicion is about. There is an important difference, P<0.01, between two metdhods for crude fiber analysis, so that it is determined that feed microscopy method can not be used instead of chemical method
