A novel Multi to Single Module for small object detection
Small object detection presents a significant challenge in computer vision
and object detection. The performance of small object detectors is often
compromised by a lack of pixels and less significant features. This issue stems
from information misalignment caused by variations in feature scale and
information loss during feature processing. In response to this challenge, this
paper proposes a novel the Multi to Single Module (M2S), which enhances a
specific layer through improving feature extraction and refining features.
Specifically, M2S includes the proposed Cross-scale Aggregation Module (CAM)
and explored Dual Relationship Module (DRM) to improve information extraction
capabilities and feature refinement effects. Moreover, this paper enhances the
accuracy of small object detection by utilizing M2S to generate an additional
detection head. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated on two
datasets, VisDrone2021-DET and SeaDronesSeeV2. The experimental results
demonstrate its improved performance compared with existing methods. Compared
to the baseline model (YOLOv5s), M2S improves the accuracy by about 1.1\% on
the VisDrone2021-DET testing dataset and 15.68\% on the SeaDronesSeeV2

The Relationship between Locus of Control, Parenting Style, Teaching Style, and Self-Esteem on the Practice of Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors among Chinese High School Students from Three High School in Xinjiang Province
The present study employed path analysis to investigate the impact of locus of control, parenting style, teaching style, and self-esteem on the practice of healthy lifestyle behaviors among a sample of Chinese high school students. 300 high school students from three high schools in China participated by responding to a questionnaire developed to meet the objectives of the study. Results from the study revealed significant relationships between the following variables: (1) authoritative teaching style and internal locus of control with physical exercise; (2) internal locus of control with having breakfast on time; (3) neglectful parenting style and internal locus of control with having enough sleep; (4) neglectful teaching style with brushing one’s teeth after a meal and paying attention to safety issues; and (5) indulgent parenting style and internal and chance locus of control with good eye care. The implications of and recommendations from these findings for the practice of health care behaviors among Chinese high school students are discussed
An Agent-Based Model of Ant Colony Energy and Population Dynamics: Effects of Temperature and Food Fluctuation
The ant colony, known as a self-organized system, can adapt to the environment by a series of negative and positive feedbacks. There is still a lack of mechanistic understanding of how the factors, such as temperature and food, coordinate the labor of ants. According to the Metabolic Theory of Ecology (MTE), the metabolic rate could control ecological process at all levels. To analyze self-organized process of ant colony, we constructed an agent-based model to simulate the energy and population dynamics of ant colony. After parameterizing the model, we ran 20 parallel simulations for each experiment and parameter sweeps to find patterns and dependencies in the food and energy flow of the colony. Ultimately this model predicted that ant colonies can respond to changes of temperature and food availability and perform differently. We hope this study can improve our understanding on the self-organized process of ant colony
