Rotating Black Holes and Coriolis Effect
In this work, we consider the fluid/gravity correspondence for general
rotating black holes. By using the Petrov-like boundary condition in near
horizon limit, we study the correspondence between gravitational perturbation
and fluid equation. We find that the dual fluid equation for rotating black
holes contains a Coriolis force term, which is closely related to the angular
velocity of the black hole horizon. This can be seen as a dual effect for the
frame-dragging effect of rotating black hole under the holographic picture.Comment: 5 page
Impact of Big Data Analytics on Banking: A Case Study
Purpose – The paper aims to help enterprises gain valuable knowledge about big data implementation in practice and improve their information management ability, as they accumulate experience, to reuse or adapt the proposed method to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage.
Design/methodology/approach – Guided by the theory of technological frames of reference (TFR) and transaction cost theory (TCT), this paper describes a real-world case study in the banking industry to explain how to help enterprises leverage big data analytics for changes. Through close integration with bank\u27s daily operations and strategic planning, the case study shows how the analytics team frame the challenge and analyze the data with two analytic models – customer segmentation (unsupervised) and product affinity prediction (supervised), to initiate the adoption of big data analytics in precise marketing.
Findings – The study reported relevant findings from a longitudinal data analysis and identified some key success factors. First, non-technical factors, for example intuitive analytics results, appropriate evaluation baseline, multiple-wave implementation and selection of marketing channels critically influence big data implementation progress in organizations. Second, a successful campaign also relies on technical factors. For example, the clustering analytics could promote customers\u27 response rates, and the product affinity prediction model could boost efficient transaction and lower time costs.
Originality/value – For theoretical contribution, this paper verified that the outstanding characteristics of online mutual fund platforms brought up by Nagle, Seamans and Tadelis (2010) could not guarantee organizations\u27 competitive advantages from the aspect of TCT
ACUTE EFFECT OF VIBRATORY STIMULATION ON ELBOW JOINT FLEXOR PERFORMANCE
A novel design of vibratory stimulation training system was developed in this study. Each participant took a pre-test, before receiving treatment with 20 seconds of vibratory stimulation (VS) at a specific frequency and amplitude. The participants then took a post-test. Percentage improvement was then calculated by comparing the pre- and post-test values for each index. The experimental data were analyzed through a two-way repeated-measures ANOVA analysis, with the independent variables being vibratory frequency and amplitude and the dependent variables being EMG root mean square, maximal force, rate of force development, and average force. The optimal vibratory stimulation pattern was found from this study that being a 60% maximal force loading combined with VS at 2.5 Hz and 1 N amplitude sustained over 20 s
Justice in inter-organizational relationships: A literature review and future research agenda
Organizational justice has made contributions to the inter-organizational literature by highlighting the effects of justice perceptions on behavioral, attitudinal, and organizational outcomes. However, research on justice perceptions remains scattered and falls short of addressing key elements of justice, and how these elements interact in an inter-organizational context. The lack of understanding calls for a comprehensive review and synthesis of extant studies. After a careful initial review of 375 papers from 1995 to 2018, this paper consolidates 79 papers on organizational justice at an inter-organizational level with respect to theoretical perspectives, methodologies, contexts, and research findings. The thematic and descriptive analyses offer deeper insights into the varying effects of different organizational justice dimensions, and bring forward limitations of current research including a focus on a: single side of the dyad, static view of justice, and single level of analysis. Consequently, the synthesis section, derived from the thematic analysis, draws out three fruitful key themes including: i) justice asymmetry; ii) justice dynamics; and iii) multilevel view of justice. The study positions fruitful research questions for each theme, before presenting the study's limitations and implications
A CMMI-based approach for medical software project life cycle study
In terms of medical techniques, Taiwan has gained international recognition in recent years. However, the medical information system industry in Taiwan is still at a developing stage compared with the software industries in other nations. In addition, systematic development processes are indispensable elements of software development. They can help developers increase their productivity and efficiency and also avoid unnecessary risks arising during the development process. Thus, this paper presents an application of Light-Weight Capability Maturity Model Integration (LW-CMMI) to Chang Gung Medical Research Project (CMRP) in the Nuclear medicine field. This application was intended to integrate user requirements, system design and testing of software development processes into three layers (Domain, Concept and Instance) model. Then, expressing in structural System Modeling Language (SysML) diagrams and converts part of the manual effort necessary for project management maintenance into computational effort, for example: (semi-) automatic delivery of traceability management. In this application, it supports establishing artifacts of “requirement specification document”, “project execution plan document”, “system design document” and “system test document”, and can deliver a prototype of lightweight project management tool on the Nuclear Medicine software project. The results of this application can be a reference for other medical institutions in developing medical information systems and support of project management to achieve the aim of patient safety. Do resting brain dynamics predict oddball evoked-potential?
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The oddball paradigm is widely applied to the investigation of cognitive function in neuroscience and in neuropsychiatry. Whether cortical oscillation in the resting state can predict the elicited oddball event-related potential (ERP) is still not clear. This study explored the relationship between resting electroencephalography (EEG) and oddball ERPs. The regional powers of 18 electrodes across delta, theta, alpha and beta frequencies were correlated with the amplitude and latency of N1, P2, N2 and P3 components of oddball ERPs. A multivariate analysis based on partial least squares (PLS) was applied to further examine the spatial pattern revealed by multiple correlations.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Higher synchronization in the resting state, especially at the alpha spectrum, is associated with higher neural responsiveness and faster neural propagation, as indicated by the higher amplitude change of N1/N2 and shorter latency of P2. None of the resting quantitative EEG indices predict P3 latency and amplitude. The PLS analysis confirms that the resting cortical dynamics which explains N1/N2 amplitude and P2 latency does not show regional specificity, indicating a global property of the brain.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>This study differs from previous approaches by relating dynamics in the resting state to neural responsiveness in the activation state. Our analyses suggest that the neural characteristics carried by resting brain dynamics modulate the earlier/automatic stage of target detection.</p
Game Solving with Online Fine-Tuning
Game solving is a similar, yet more difficult task than mastering a game.
Solving a game typically means to find the game-theoretic value (outcome given
optimal play), and optionally a full strategy to follow in order to achieve
that outcome. The AlphaZero algorithm has demonstrated super-human level play,
and its powerful policy and value predictions have also served as heuristics in
game solving. However, to solve a game and obtain a full strategy, a winning
response must be found for all possible moves by the losing player. This
includes very poor lines of play from the losing side, for which the AlphaZero
self-play process will not encounter. AlphaZero-based heuristics can be highly
inaccurate when evaluating these out-of-distribution positions, which occur
throughout the entire search. To address this issue, this paper investigates
applying online fine-tuning while searching and proposes two methods to learn
tailor-designed heuristics for game solving. Our experiments show that using
online fine-tuning can solve a series of challenging 7x7 Killall-Go problems,
using only 23.54% of computation time compared to the baseline without online
fine-tuning. Results suggest that the savings scale with problem size. Our
method can further be extended to any tree search algorithm for problem

The Study on Antecedents of Consumer Buying Impulsiveness in an Online Context
The global recession caused by the financial tsunami has seriously impacted numerous industries. Although the market scale of global e-commerce market has declined, global online shopping continues to grow. Many previous researches focused on the effect of website design characteristics on online impulsive buying behavior, and few have explored such behavior from consumer individual internal factor perspectives. This paper aims to explore and integrate individual internal factors influencing consumer online buying impulsiveness, and further to recognize the relationships among these factors. The results showed as follows: (1) hedonic consumption needs, impulsive buying tendency, positive affect and normative evaluations positively influence buying impulsiveness, respectively; (2) hedonic consumption needs positively influence positive affect; (3) impulsive buying tendency positively influences normative evaluations; (4) normative evaluations positively influence positive affect
