Symmetries of quasiplatonic Riemann surfaces
We state and prove a corrected version of a theorem of Singerman, which
relates the existence of symmetries (anticonformal involutions) of a
quasiplatonic Riemann surface (one uniformised by a normal
subgroup of finite index in a cocompact triangle group ) to the
properties of the group . We give examples to illustrate the
revised necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of symmetries,
and we relate them to properties of the associated dessins d'enfants, or
hypermaps
Status of HPV vaccine introduction and barriers to country uptake.
During the last 12 years, over 80 countries have introduced national HPV vaccination programs. The majority of these countries are high or upper-middle income countries. The barriers to HPV vaccine introduction remain greatest in those countries with the highest burden of cervical cancer and the most need for vaccination. Innovation and global leadership is required to increase and sustain introductions in low income and lower-middle income countries
The 6dF Galaxy Survey: Dependence of halo occupation on stellar mass
In this paper we study the stellar-mass dependence of galaxy clustering in
the 6dF Galaxy Survey. The near-infrared selection of 6dFGS allows more
reliable stellar mass estimates compared to optical bands used in other galaxy
surveys. Using the Halo Occupation Distribution (HOD) model, we investigate the
trend of dark matter halo mass and satellite fraction with stellar mass by
measuring the projected correlation function, . We find that the
typical halo mass () as well as the satellite power law index ()
increase with stellar mass. This indicates, (1) that galaxies with higher
stellar mass sit in more massive dark matter halos and (2) that these more
massive dark matter halos accumulate satellites faster with growing mass
compared to halos occupied by low stellar mass galaxies. Furthermore we find a
relation between and the minimum dark matter halo mass () of
, in agreement with similar findings for SDSS
galaxies. The satellite fraction of 6dFGS galaxies declines with increasing
stellar mass from 21% at
to 12% at indicating that
high stellar mass galaxies are more likely to be central galaxies. We compare
our results to two different semi-analytic models derived from the Millennium
Simulation, finding some disagreement. Our results can be used for placing new
constraints on semi-analytic models in the future, particularly the behaviour
of luminous red satellites. Finally we compare our results to studies of halo
occupation using galaxy-galaxy weak lensing. We find good overall agreement,
representing a valuable crosscheck for these two different tools of studying

Improving community readiness for change through coalition capacity building: Evidence from a multisite intervention
Often, community coalitions are facilitators of community-level changes when addressing underage drinking. Although studies have shown that enhancing coalition capacity is related to improved internal functioning, the relationship between enhanced capacity and community readiness for change is not well established. The present study used a pretest–posttest design to examine whether enhancing coalition capacity through training and technical assistance was associated with improved community readiness and coalition-facilitated community-level changes. Seven Kansas communities engaged in an intensive capacity building intervention through implementation of the Strategic Prevention Framework. The results indicated strong correlations between increased coalition capacity, changes in community readiness stages, and the number of community changes facilitated. The results suggest that strengthening coalition capacity through training and technical assistance may improve community readiness for change and enable the implementation of community-wide program and environmental changes
The Tenerife Cosmic Microwave Background Maps: Observations and First Analysis
The results of the Tenerife Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) experiments are
presented. These observations cover 5000 and 6500 square degrees on the sky at
10 and 15 GHz respectively centred around Dec.~ +35 degrees. The experiments
are sensitive to multipoles l=10-30 which corresponds to the Sachs-Wolfe
plateau of the CMB power spectra. The sensitivity of the results are ~31 and
\~12 microK at 10 and 15 GHz respectively in a beam-size region (5 degrees
FWHM). The data at 15 GHz show clear detection of structure at high Galactic
latitude; the results at 10 GHz are compatible with these, but at lower
significance. A likelihood analysis of the 10 and 15 GHz data at high Galactic
latitude, assuming a flat CMB band power spectra gives a signal Delta
T_l=30+10-8 microK (68 % C.L.). Including the possible contaminating effect due
to the diffuse Galactic component, the CMB signal is Delta T_l=30+15-11 microK.
These values are highly stable against the Galactic cut chosen. Assuming a
Harrison-Zeldovich spectrum for the primordial fluctuations, the above values
imply an expected quadrupole Q_RMS-PS=20+10-7 microK which confirms previous
results from these experiments, and which are compatible with the COBE DMR.Comment: 17 pages, 7 figures. Submitted to Ap
Three-centre cluster structure in 11C and 11B
Studies of the 16O(9Be,alpha 7Be)14C, 7Li(9Be,alpha 7Li)5He and 7Li(9Be,alpha
alpha t)5He reactions at E(beam)=70 and 55 MeV have been performed using
resonant particle spectroscopy techniques. The 11C excited states decaying into
alpha+7Be(gs) are observed between 8.5 and 13.5 MeV. The alpha+7Li(gs),
alpha+7Li*(4.652 MeV) and t+8Be(gs) decays of 11B excited states between 9 and
19 MeV are observed. The decay processes are used to indicate the possible
three-centre 2alpha+3He (2alpha+3H) cluster structure of observed states. This
cluster structure is more prominent in the positive-parity states, where two
rotational bands with large deformations are suggested. Excitations of some of
the observed T=1/2 resonances coincide with the energies of previously measured
T=3/2 isobaric analogs of the 11Be states,indicating that these states may have

New Cosmological Structures on Medium Angular Scales Detected with the Tenerife Experiments
We present observations at 10 and 15 GHz taken with the Tenerife experiments
in a band of the sky at Dec.=+35 degrees. These experiments are sensitive to
multipoles in the range l=10-30. The sensitivity per beam is 56 and 20 microK
for the 10 and the 15 GHz data, respectively. After subtraction of the
prediction of known radio-sources, the analysis of the data at 15 GHz at high
Galactic latitude shows the presence of a signal with amplitude Delta Trms ~ 32
microK. In the case of a Harrison-Zeldovich spectrum for the primordial
fluctuations, a likelihood analysis shows that this signal corresponds to a
quadrupole amplitude Q_rms-ps=20.1+7.1-5.4 microK, in agreement with our
previous results at Dec.+=40 degrees and with the results of the COBE DMR.
There is clear evidence for the presence of individual features in the RA range
190 degrees to 250 degrees with a peak to peak amplitude of ~110 microK. A
preliminary comparison between our results and COBE DMR predictions for the
Tenerife experiments clearly indicates the presence of individual features
common to both. The constancy in amplitude over such a large range in frequency
(10-90 GHz) is strongly indicative of an intrinsic cosmological origin for
