APPLICATION OF ACID MODIFIED RED MUD FOR LEAD ION REMOVAL FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION

    Get PDF
In this study, the Pb(II) adsorption experiments with the single acid modified red mud were conducted as a function of initial pH, adsorbent doses, contact time, initial Pb(II) concentrations, and competitive ions. The adsorption results pointed that the highest Pb(II) removal efficiency was achieved at the initial pH 4.0, adsorbent dose 7.5 g/L, shaking speed 150 rpm and contact time around 60 minutes at the room temperature. The adsorption results arrowed that the Pb(II) removal efficiency of the modified red mud was enhanced to 150% compared to the raw red mud. The adsorption capacity of the modified red was measured of 9.52 mg/g, higher compared to several previous studies using the same method and type of acid. The study also indicated that the Pb(II) adsorption kinetic and isotherm were best described by the Pseudo - second - order kinetic and fitted to linearly transform both Langmuir and Freundlich with correlation coefficient (R2) over 0.99. The data obtained in this study indicated that modified red mud by using acid can be used as an effective and low cost adsorbent for heavy metals removal from wastewater

Applying the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) in Investigating Online Impulsive Buying Behavior of Vietnamese Consumers

Based on The Theory of Adoption and Use of Technology (UTAUT) (Venkatesh et al., 2003), this study builds a research model regarding the Factors affecting Vietnamese consumers' online impulsive buying behavior. The multiple regression results reveal that Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Online Buying Intention play a crucial role in amplifying the development of online impulsive buying behavior in Vietnam. Final version, to appear in Nagoya Math. J.. Lemma on Hausdorff measure added, and a bit more details are given in the proof of Theorems 1.1 and 1.2International audienceThe main aim of this article is to give some sufficient conditions for a family of meromorphic mappings on a domain D in C^n into P^N(C) to be meromorphically normal if they satisfy only some very weak conditions with respect to moving hypersurfaces in P^N(C), namely that their intersections with these moving hypersurfaces, which may moreover depend on the meromorphic maps, are in some sense uniform. Our results generalise and complete previous results in this area, especially the works of Fujimoto, Tu, Tu-Li, Mai-Thai-Trang and the recent work of Quang-Tan

Entrepreneurial Finance: Insights from English Language Training Market in Vietnam

    Get PDF
Entrepreneurship plays an indispensable role in the economic development and poverty reduction of emerging economies like Vietnam. The rapid development of technologies during the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) has a significant impact on business in every field, especially in the innovation-focused area of entrepreneurship. However, the topic of entrepreneurial activities with technology applications in Vietnam is under-researched. In addition, the body of literature regarding entrepreneurial finance tends to focus on advanced economies, while mostly neglecting the contextual differences in developing nations. Therefore, this research contributes to these topics by investigating the main characteristics of a high potential market for entrepreneurs in Vietnam, which is the English language training market (ELTM). It also aims at indicating the impacts of technology on the entrepreneurial firms within this market, with an emphasis on financing sources. To answer the research questions, this study employs a qualitative analysis and conducts 12 in-depth, semi-structured interviews with entrepreneurs and researchers in the field. The key findings in our study highlight the main contributing factors to the growth of the market, both universally and context-specific for a developing nation like Vietnam. It also lists the leaders in each market segment and the industry’s potential profit margin. The results also show that most entrepreneurs in the ELTM utilized private sources of finance rather than external ones, such as bank loans. It again confirms the idea from previous works that even with the rapid development of the economic and technological landscape, entrepreneurial activities in general barely benefit from additional sources of funding. However, it also points out the distinct characteristics of the ELTM that may influence these financing issues; for example, English training services usually collect revenues from customers before delivering their classes. This is of advantage for entrepreneurs in this area and helps significantly reduce the financial barriers. These findings, which are among the first attempts to contribute to a better understanding of entrepreneurial opportunities in the Industry 4.0 in Vietnam, provide valuable insights for policymakers and entrepreneurs, as well as investors

Evaluating the Ability to Achieve Efficiency in Providing Services of the Freight Forwarding Firms in Viet Nam

In recent years, Vietnam freight forwarding industry is growing and contributing significantly to the national GDP. However, the efficiency in providing service delivery at the domestic firms is not high to compete with multinational companies that are strong potential and finance. There have been many studies on freight forwarding, but mainly qualitative research and other studies are in-depth analysis logistics. This research presents the factors that affect efficiency in providing services. This research has been used factor analysis method and binary regression model (Binary Logistics) and identified 4 factors that affect the efficiency in providing service of freight forwarding firms: (1) Resources of business (2) Outcomes (3) The quality of staffs (4) The relationship between enterprises and their customers, and outcomes is the factor provided the highest positive correlation to the ability to achieve efficiency in providing services of freight forwarding firms.Binary Logistic model showed the probability of business efficiency is 72.5%. Thus, at the level of resources to provide services is 3.35, the outcome is 3.66, quality of the staffs is 3.59 and the relationship with customers is 3.40, shows that enterprises operate efficiently. Value prediction accuracy of the model is 93.3%

Impairment of Assets Under Perspectives of International and Vietnamese Accounting

This study investigates the impairment of assets on financial reportings of three separate entities - Vietnam Prosperity Joint-Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank), The Bank of East Asia (BEA) and The Nestlé Group - in the financial year of 2017. By bringing out the differences between international accounting system of asset impairment (IAS 36) and Vietnamese accounting system (VAS), this research has determined the gap between two sets of financial statements under IFRS and VAS in conveying the business performance and financial position. The empirical results show Vietnam’s necessary for a convergence in asset impairment with international accounting system. Therefore, we provide some recommendations for Vietnam in applying asset impairment regarding to IAS 36 partly or completely.
