Gravity in --Dimensional Quantum Gravity
We study gravity in --dimensional quantum gravity. Taking
care of the oversubtraction problem in the conformal mode dynamics, we perform
a full order calculation of string susceptibility in the limit. The result is consistent with that obtained through Liouville
approach.Comment: 12 pages; KEK-TH-394, KEK Preprint 94-15, ICRR-Report-318-94-13,

Significance of ethnic values in the process of the youth self-definition in Northern Caucasus
В статье выявляются факторы, воздействующие на этническую социализацию в поликультурном пространстве Северного Кавказа. Рассматривается специфичность этнической идентичности юности.In this paper factors, affecting the increasing significance of ethnic socialization in policultural space of North Caucasus are considered. The specificity of the youth ethnic identity forming is shown and the necessity of other identity kinds development, allowing to develop constructive forms of intergroup reciprocity is demonstrated
Natural killer cytolytic activity is associated with the expression of killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors on peripheral lymphocytes in human.
Although it has been shown that killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIRs) on peripheral lymphocytes are upregulated by interleukin-2 (IL-2), which activates natural killer (NK) activity, it has not been demonstrated whether the expression of KIRs is related to NK activity. Therefore, we investigated the association between the KIR expression on lymphocytes and NK activity. CD158a/b expression on lymphocytes obtained from 37 subjects was analyzed using flow cytometry. Simultaneously, NK activity was measured each sample using a 51Cr-release assay. Additionally, lymphocytes were cultured in RPMI 1640 medium with or without IL-2 for 48 h, and then their CD158a/b expression and NK activity was analyzed. CD158a/b expression was significantly correlated with NK activity. Especially, the percentage of CD16+CD158a+ and CD8+CD158a/b+ cells in lymphocytes showed a highly significant correlation with NK activity. However, analysis of CD8+ and CD16+ cells revealed that there was only a significant correlation between the percentage of CD8+CD158a+ cells among only CD8+ cells and NK activity. The upregulation of CD16+CD158a+/b+ cells in response to IL-2 tended to be related to the increase of NK activity, but the relationship was not significant. In conclusion, the level of KIR expression was correlated with NK activity, and IL-2 treatment resulted in an increase of NK activity as well as KIR expression, suggesting that upregulation of KIRs enhances the ability to sort target cells, such as virus-infected cells from uninfected cells, according to major histocompatibility complex class I expression
The truncated disk from Suzaku data of GX 339-4 in the extreme very high state
We report on the geometry of accretion disk and high energy coronae in the
strong Comptonization state (the very high/steep power law/hard intermediate
state) based on a Suzaku observation of the famous Galactic black hole GX
339-4. These data were taken just before the peak of the 2006-2007 outburst,
and the average X-ray luminosity in the 0.7-200 keV band is estimated to be
2.9E38 erg/s for a distance of 8 kpc. We fit the spectrum with both simple
(independent disk and corona) and sophisticated (energetically coupled disk and
corona) models, but all fits imply that the underlying optically thick disk is
truncated significantly before the innermost stable circular orbit around the
black hole. We show this directly by a comparison with similarly broadband data
from a disk dominated spectrum at almost the same luminosity observed by
XMM-Newton and RXTE 3 days after the Suzaku observation.
During the Suzaku observation, the QPO frequency changes from 4.3 Hz to 5.5
Hz, while the spectrum softens. The energetically coupled model gives a
corresponding 5+/- 8 % decrease in derived inner radius of the disk. While this
is not significant, it is consistent with the predicted change in QPO frequency
from Lense-Thirring precession of the hot flow interior to the disk and/or a
deformation mode of this flow, as a higher QPO frequency implies a smaller size
scale for the corona. This is consistent with the truncated disk extending
further inwards towards the black hole.Comment: Accepted to ApJ, 41 pages, 9 figures, 3 table
