Tabular Expression-Based Testing Strategies: A Comparison
NSPEC Accession Number: 9909859Tabular expressions were proposed as a documentation tool that can be used to document software precisely and unambiguously. This paper explores the applications of four testing strategies in tabular expression-based specifications and further compares the strategies on a mathematical basis. © 2007 IEEE.published_or_final_versio
Influence of microwave fields on the electron transport through a quantum dot in the presence of a direct tunneling between leads
We consider the time-dependent electron transport through a quantum dot
coupled to two leads in the presence of the additional over-dot (bridge)
tunneling channel. By using the evolution operator method together with the
wide-band limit approximation we derived the analytical formulaes for the
quantum dot charge and current flowing in the system. The influence of the
external microwave field on the time-average quantum dot charge, the current
and the derivatives of the average current with respect to the gate and
source-drain voltages has been investigated for a wide range of parameters.Comment: 28 Pages, 11 Postscript figure
Submergence of the Sidebands in the Photon-assisted Tunneling through a Quantum Dot Weakly Coupled to Luttinger Liquid Leads
We study theoretically the photon-assisted tunneling through a quantum dot
weakly coupled to Luttinger liquids (LL) leads, and find that the zero bias dc
conductance is strongly affected by the interactions in the LL leads. In
comparison with the system with Fermi liquid (FL) leads, the sideband peaks of
the dc conductance become blurring for 1/2<g<1, and finally merge into the
central peak for g<1/2, (g is the interaction parameter in the LL leads). The
sidebands are suppressed for LL leads with Coulomb interactions strong enough,
and the conductance always appears as a single peak for any strength and
frequency of the external time-dependent field. Furthermore, the quenching
effect of the central peak for the FL case does not exist for g<1/2.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure
A comparison of different methods in the study of dynamical fluctuations in high energy e+e- collisions
Different methods in the study of anomalous scaling of factorial moments in
high energy e+e- collisions are examined in some detail. It is shown that the
horizontal and vertical factorial moments are equivalent only when they are
used in combination with the cummulant variables. The influence of different
reference frames and that of phase space restrictions is also discussed.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figure
Transport spectroscopy in a time-modulated open quantum dot
We have investigated the time-modulated coherent quantum transport phenomena
in a ballistic open quantum dot. The conductance and the electron dwell
time in the dots are calculated by a time-dependent mode-matching method. Under
high-frequency modulation, the traversing electrons are found to exhibit three
types of resonant scatterings. They are intersideband scatterings: into
quasibound states in the dots, into true bound states in the dots, and into
quasibound states just beneath the subband threshold in the leads. Dip
structures or fano structures in are their signatures. Our results show
structures due to 2 intersideband processes. At the above
scattering resonances, we have estimated, according to our dwell time
calculation, the number of round-trip scatterings that the traversing electrons
undertake between the two dot openings.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure
Solid-state laser system for laser cooling of Sodium
We demonstrate a frequency-stabilized, all-solid laser source at 589 nm with
up to 800 mW output power. The laser relies on sum-frequency generation from
two laser sources at 1064 nm and 1319 nm through a PPKTP crystal in a
doubly-resonant cavity. We obtain conversion efficiency as high as 2 W/W^2
after optimization of the cavity parameters. The output wavelength is tunable
over 60 GHz, which is sufficient to lock on the Sodium D2 line. The robustness,
beam quality, spectral narrowness and tunability of our source make it an
alternative to dye lasers for atomic physics experiments with Sodium atoms
Correlated two-electron transport: a principle for a novel charge pump
By considering a correlated two-electron transport process (TET) and using a
diagrammatic analysis within the Keldysh nonequilibrium Green's function
formalism, we discuss a novel charge pump by which carriers are pumped from a
contact with low chemical potential to another contact with a higher potential.
The TET process involves two correlated incident electrons scattering and
exchanging energy with each other. The process can significantly affect charge
current density and it involves high empty states and/or low filled states of
the Fermi liquid of the leads.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, revte
Kondo effect in coupled quantum dots: a Non-crossing approximation study
The out-of-equilibrium transport properties of a double quantum dot system in
the Kondo regime are studied theoretically by means of a two-impurity Anderson
Hamiltonian with inter-impurity hopping. The Hamiltonian, formulated in
slave-boson language, is solved by means of a generalization of the
non-crossing approximation (NCA) to the present problem. We provide benchmark
calculations of the predictions of the NCA for the linear and nonlinear
transport properties of coupled quantum dots in the Kondo regime. We give a
series of predictions that can be observed experimentally in linear and
nonlinear transport measurements through coupled quantum dots. Importantly, it
is demonstrated that measurements of the differential conductance , for the appropriate values of voltages and inter-dot tunneling
couplings, can give a direct observation of the coherent superposition between
the many-body Kondo states of each dot. This coherence can be also detected in
the linear transport through the system: the curve linear conductance vs
temperature is non-monotonic, with a maximum at a temperature
characterizing quantum coherence between both Kondo states.Comment: 20 pages, 17 figure
Protons in near earth orbit
The proton spectrum in the kinetic energy range 0.1 to 200 GeV was measured
by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) during space shuttle flight STS-91 at
an altitude of 380 km. Above the geomagnetic cutoff the observed spectrum is
parameterized by a power law. Below the geomagnetic cutoff a substantial second
spectrum was observed concentrated at equatorial latitudes with a flux ~ 70
m^-2 sec^-1 sr^-1. Most of these second spectrum protons follow a complicated
trajectory and originate from a restricted geographic region.Comment: 19 pages, Latex, 7 .eps figure
Search for antihelium in cosmic rays
The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) was flown on the space shuttle
Discovery during flight STS-91 in a 51.7 degree orbit at altitudes between 320
and 390 km. A total of 2.86 * 10^6 helium nuclei were observed in the rigidity
range 1 to 140 GV. No antihelium nuclei were detected at any rigidity. An upper
limit on the flux ratio of antihelium to helium of < 1.1 * 10^-6 is obtained.Comment: 18 pages, Latex, 9 .eps figure
