An Invariance Principle of G-Brownian Motion for the Law of the Iterated Logarithm under G-expectation
The classical law of the iterated logarithm (LIL for short)as fundamental
limit theorems in probability theory play an important role in the development
of probability theory and its applications. Strassen (1964) extended LIL to
large classes of functional random variables, it is well known as the
invariance principle for LIL which provide an extremely powerful tool in
probability and statistical inference. But recently many phenomena show that
the linearity of probability is a limit for applications, for example in
finance, statistics. As while a nonlinear expectation--- G-expectation has
attracted extensive attentions of mathematicians and economists, more and more
people began to study the nature of the G-expectation space. A natural question
is: Can the classical invariance principle for LIL be generalized under
G-expectation space? This paper gives a positive answer. We present the
invariance principle of G-Brownian motion for the law of the iterated logarithm
under G-expectation
Fast Sparse Matrix Multiplication
Let A and B two n n matrices over a ring R (e.g., the reals or the integers) each containing at most m non-zero elements. We present a new algorithm that multiplies A and B using O(m ) algebraic operations (i.e., multiplications, additions and subtractions) over R. The naive matrix multiplication algorithm, on the other hand, may need to perform #(mn) operations to accomplish the same task. For , the new algorithm performs an almost optimal number of only n operations. For m the new algorithm is also faster than the best known matrix multiplication algorithm for dense matrices which uses O(n ) algebraic operations. The new algorithm is obtained using a surprisingly straightforward combination of a simple combinatorial idea and existing fast rectangular matrix multiplication algorithms. We also obtain improved algorithms for the multiplication of more than two sparse matrices

Ermittlung von Reifenkennfeldern auf echten Fahrbahnbelaegen
Im Rahmen des dokumentierten Vorhabens werden auf echten, vom oeffentlichen Verkehr benutzten Strassen Reifenkennfelder erstellt. Neben dem PIARC-Reifen werden unterschiedliche Serienreifen bei verschiedenen Geschwindigkeiten untersucht. Die zwischen Reifen und Fahrbahn wirkenden Kraefte werden bei unterschiedlichen Schlupf und Sturz unter stufenlosen Verstellung des Schraeglaufwinkels in einem Bereich von ca. - 18 to + 11 gemessen. Als Messgeraet dient der Universelle Reibungsmesser II (URM II) des Instituts fuer Verbrennungsmotoren und Kraftfahrwesen der Universitaet Stuttgart. In addition to the PIARC tyre, different standard tyres are tested at different speeds. The forces acting between tyre and carriageway are measured with varying slip and camber angle with continuously variable adjustment of the slip angle within a range of approximately - 18 to + 11 . The Universal Friction Meter II, developed by the University of Stuttgart's institute for internal combustion engines and automotive engineering, was used as the measuring device.
