Symmetry and Z_2-Orbifolding Approach in Five-dimensional Lattice Gauge Theory
In a lattice gauge-Higgs unification scenario using a Z_2-orbifolded
extra-dimension, we find a new global symmetry in a case of SU(2) bulk gauge
symmetry. It is a global symmetry on sites in a fixed point with respect to
Z_2-orbifolding, independent of the bulk gauge symmetry. It is shown that the
vacuum expectation value of a Z_2-projected Polyakov loop is a good order
parameter of the new symmetry. The effective theory on lattice is also

Vacuum Structure of the Ichimatsu-Decomposed Lattice Models
We proposed an `Ichimatsu'-decomposed lattice gauge theory with fermionic
symmetries. The vacuum structures of the gauge sector with two coupling
constants () are investigated for 3-dimensional Z and
4-dimensional SU(2) cases using mean-field approximation and numerical
simulation. We found two phases on the () phase diagram for

Staggered Fermion, its Symmetry and Ichimatsu-Patterned Lattice
We investigate exact symmetries of a staggered fermion in D dimensions. The
Dirac operator is reformulated by SO(2D) Clifford algebra. The chiral symmetry,
rotational invariance and parity symmetries are clarified in any dimension.
Local scalar and pseudo-scalar modes are definitely determined, in which we
find non-standard modes. The relation to Ichimatsu-patterned lattice approach

Developing a Typological Theory Using a Quantitative Approach: A Case of Information Security Deviant Behavior
Different from classification and taxonomy, typology meets the criteria of a theory and is a unique form of theory building. Typology is a good first step in exploring a research topic, and, therefore, we are concerned with building typological theories for underdeveloped topics with limited studies. We propose a four-step approach involving content analysis, multidimensional scaling, judgmental analysis, and empirical testing to guide researchers in developing typological theories in their domains of interest using a quantitative approach that rides on empirical methods and industry wisdom. Previous research in information security has paid little attention to employees’ deviant behavior in the workplace. We, therefore, built a typology of information security deviant behavior as an example to illustrate the theory development process. We discuss the theoretical, methodological, and practical implications of this study
Reasoning with comparative moral judgements: an argument for Moral Bayesianism
The paper discusses the notion of reasoning with comparative moral judgements
(i.e judgements of the form “act a is morally superior to act b”) from the point of view of several meta-ethical positions. Using a simple formal result, it is argued that only a version of moral cognitivism that is committed to the claim that moral beliefs come in degrees can give a normatively plausible account of such reasoning. Some implications of accepting such a version of moral cognitivism are discussed
Universal Statistics of the Scattering Coefficient of Chaotic Microwave Cavities
We consider the statistics of the scattering coefficient S of a chaotic
microwave cavity coupled to a single port. We remove the non-universal effects
of the coupling from the experimental S data using the radiation impedance
obtained directly from the experiments. We thus obtain the normalized, complex
scattering coefficient whose Probability Density Function (PDF) is predicted to
be universal in that it depends only on the loss (quality factor) of the
cavity. We compare experimental PDFs of the normalized scattering coefficients
with those obtained from Random Matrix Theory (RMT), and find excellent
agreement. The results apply to scattering measurements on any wave chaotic

Who Benefits from Job Creation at County Level? An Analysis of Leakage and Spillover of New Employment Opportunities in Virginia
Using an econometric model system built on county level labor market data, this study allocates new employments in Virginia from 1990 to 2000 into various demographic segments: commuters, residents, and new immigrants. The study finds significant leakage of new employment opportunities in Virginia. 52% of new jobs created in the 1990s in a locality were taken by outside commuters. However, Virginia’s localities also benefit from spillover benefits from job creation elsewhere. Economists need to account for employment leakage and spillover to accurately evaluate the fiscal impacts of potential economic development projects
Pressure Induced Hydration Dynamics of Membranes
Pressure-jump initiated time-resolved x-ray diffraction studies of dynamics
of the hydration of the hexagonal phase in biological membranes show that (i)
the relaxation of the unit cell spacing is non-exponential in time; (ii) the
Bragg peaks shift smoothly to their final positions without significant
broadening or loss in crystalline order. This suggests that the hydration is
not diffusion limited but occurs via a rather homogeneous swelling of the whole
