    新学習指導要領で探究的な学びを経験した高校生が大学で学び始める2025年度を控え,大学の教養教育科目として,「色」を主題にして物理学と被服学の知見を組み合わせ,プロジェクト型の活動も組み入れた新たな授業を開発し実践した。昨年度の実践と同様に,様々なつながりを意識してものごとを捉えたり,学生自身の思考や感覚の特徴を自覚させることを促す仕掛けを組み込むことで,学生の主体性を促して創造的な思考を刺激する授業になっている。受講生のシャトルカードの記述,考察過程で作成したウェビング,物理や物理学習に対する学生の思考や態度を測定するCLASS調査紙などの分析の結果,「主体的,対話的に考え,感じ,判断する自分自身の存在を意識すること」を促す効果が大きいことが明らかになった。これは,探究的な学びの土台として重要な創造性の涵養に欠かせない要素になる。 In anticipation of the academic year 2025, when high school students who have experienced inquiry-based learning under the new Courses of Study will be university students, we have developed a new class that combines knowledge of physics and clothing science on the subject of "color" and incorporates project-based activities as a university liberal arts education course. As in the previous year, the class encourages students to take initiative and stimulates creative thinking by incorporating devices that encourage them to perceive things with an awareness of various connections and to become aware of the characteristics of their own thinking and senses. As a result of the analysis of the students' descriptions on the shuttle cards, the webbing created in the process of discussion, and the CLASS survey paper that measures students' thoughts and attitudes toward physics and physics learning, it became clear that the class was highly effective in encouraging students to "become aware of their own existence to think, feel, and judge independently and interactively. This is an essential element in the cultivation of creativity, which is important as a foundation for inquiry-based learning

    平成28年以降、わが国では、これから子どもたちが生きる予測できない未来に対応するための学校教育の方向性として、グローバル化や知識基盤社会で生きる力とその育成のためのアクティブ・ラーニングの導入が示された。2014年にスーパーグローバル大学の指定を受けた岡山大学においても、知識基盤社会やグローバル化社会を支える高度な専門知識と知的な素養を備えた人材育成のための教育改革が行われた。本研究は,この改革の中で、教養教育として教育学部に求められた「現代の教育的課題」の授業科目として、アクティブ・ラーニングを核とする“ESDを視点とした家庭科Project”を基盤として開発した「生活と環境」とその実践結果について検討した。Since 2016, active learning has been implemented in Japan as part of a direction for school education that can respond to the unpredictable future in store for children, in order to develop the ability to live in a globalized, knowledge-based society. Okayama University, which has been designated as a Super Global University in 2014, is engaged in education reform to develop people with the advanced, specialized knowledge as well as mental fundamentals to support a knowledge-based, global society.     Clinical perspectives of Treponema pallidum subsp. Endemicum infection in adults, particularly men who have sex with men in the Kansai area, Japan: A case series

    Bejel, caused by Treponema pallidum subsp. Endemicum (TEN), is a locally transmitted disease among children and juveniles in hot and dry regions. The number of adult cases of TEN infection outside of endemic areas has recently increased. We clinically examined five cases of TEN infection among adult cases previously reported in Japan. TEN infection mainly developed among young to middle-aged men who have sex with men (MSM). The clinical features of cases of TEN infection were similar to those of primary- and secondary-stage T. pallidum subsp. pallidum (TPA) infection. Genital lesions were common as the primary lesion. The clinical features and laboratory parameters of cases of TEN infection were similar to those of TPA infection. Most of the isolated strains had the A2058G mutation in 23S rDNA, which is responsible for resistance to macrolides. We also performed the systemic literature review of the TEN cases outside the endemic countries. The recent reported cases diagnosed with molecular methods shared the clinical features, occurred in young-to middle-aged sexually active persons in urban areas of developed countries and often accompanied with genital lesions, which were distinct from the classic description of bejel. This case series and the literature review provides important clinical insights and will contribute to the clinical detection of this rarely identified disease in developed countries. The surveillance of treponematoses, including TEN infection, using molecular diagnostic techniques is also warranted in developed countries, for the purpose of grasping the epidemic situation and control the local transmission

    教員養成では,教育実践を核に据えた「教科教育と教科専門を架橋する研究領域」の確立が課題となってきた。岡山大学教育学部では「実地教育を核としたコア・カリキュラム」と「教科内容構成力育成」のための授業科目の連携・統合の取組を行ってきた。本報告では,家政教育講座で教科教育と教科内容の統合を目指して構築・実践してきた初等家庭科授業研究と内容研究の平成26年度~平成30年度の「教科内容構成力」の育成を検討した。その結果,受講生は「教科内容構成力は高まった」と評価していたが,平成28年度以降教員志望度の低い学生が増え,平成28・30年度では,教員志望度の高い学生との自己評価得点が有意に低いことが明らかになった

    Comparison of six antibody assays and two combination assays for COVID-19

    [Introduction] In this work, six SARS-CoV-2-specific antibody assays were evaluated, namely, two pan-immunoglobulin (pan-Ig) assays [Roche Elecsys Anti-SARS-CoV-2 (named "Elecsys" in this study) and the PerkinElmer SuperFlex™ Anti-SARS-CoV-2 Ab Assay (SuperFlex_Ab)], two IgM assays [SuperFlex™ Anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgM Assay (SuperFlex_IgM) and YHLO iFlash-SARS-CoV-2 IgM (iFlash_IgM)], and two IgG assays [SuperFlex™ Anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG Assay (SuperFlex_IgG) and iFlash-SARS-CoV-2 IgG (iFlash_IgG)]. Combination assays of SuperFlex™ (SuperFlex_any) and iFlash (iFlash_any) were also evaluated. [Methods] A total of 438 residual serum samples from 54 COVID-19 patients in the COVID-19 group and 100 samples from individuals without evidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the negative control group were evaluated. [Results] In the early stage of COVID-19 infection, within 14 days of symptom onset, the seropositive rate was lower than that of the late stage 15 days after onset (65.4% vs 99.6%). In the total period, the pan-Ig and IgG assays had higher sensitivity (90.8–95.3%) than the IgM assays (36.5–40.7%). SuperFlex_Ab and SuperFlex_any had higher sensitivity than Elecsys and SuperFlex_IgG (p < 0.05). The specificity of all the assays was 100%, except for SuperFlex_IgM (99.0%). The concordance rate between each assay was higher (96.4–100%) in the late stage than in the early stage (77.4–98.1%). [Conclusion] For the purpose of COVID-19 diagnosis, antibody testing should be performed 15 days after onset. For the purpose of epidemiological surveillance, highly sensitive assays should be used as much as possible, such as SuperFlex_Ab, iFlash_IgG and their combination. IgM assays were not suitable for these purposes

    Interaction Rating Scale (IRS) as an Evidence-Based Practical Index of Children’s Social Skills and Parenting

    Background: The purpose of this paper is to describe the features of the Interaction Rating Scale (IRS) as an evidence-based practical index of children’s social skills and parenting.Methods: The participants in our study, which was conducted as part of a Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) project, were 370 dyads of children (aged 18, 30, and 42 month) and 81 dyads of 7-year-old children with their caregivers. The participants completed the five minute interaction session and were observed using the IRS.Results: The results indicated that the IRS can measure children’s social skill development and parenting with high validity. Along with the discriminate validity for pervasive development disorder (PDD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), abuse and maltreatment, a high correlation with the SDQ (Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire), and high reliability, the IRS is effective in describing features of social skill development.Conclusions: The IRS provides further evidence of the fact that in order to study children’s social skill development, it is important to evaluate various features of the caregiver-child interaction as a predictor of social skills

    The relationship between the development of social competence and sleep in infants: a longitudinal study

    BackgroundMany reports argue that sleep is important for children’s health, learning, and academic performance. The purpose of this longitudinal study was to examine the association between sleep and the development of social competence in infants.MethodsThis study was conducted as part of a Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) project. Caregivers responded to the Japan Children’s Study Sleep Questionnaire when children were 18 months old. The interactions of caregivers and children were observed when children were 18, 30, and 42 months old, and rated with the Interaction Rating Scale, which is a measure of social competence.ResultsNocturnal sleep duration of more than 10 h and an earlier bed time than 22:00 were significantly correlated with two trajectory groups (low point and high point transition groups) of children’s social competence at 18, 30, and 42 months. Further, total sleep duration of more than 12.25 h and an earlier bed time than 22:00 were significantly correlated with the trajectory of children’s social competence at 18, 30, and 42 months.ConclusionsSleep duration and sleep onset time are important factors in children’s development of social competence

    A case that has been diagnosed with glandular odontogenic cyst by histopathological examination

    Glandular odontogenic cyst (GOC) is a rare odontogenic cyst, classified as a developmental odontogenic cyst by the WHO histological typing of odontogenic tumours in 1992. GOC generally occurs in the mandible and arises in each age. The clinical differential diagnosis of odontogenic tumor and cyst is important however, it is difficult to discriminate between them in clinical and radiographical findings. Thus, pathological searches become an essential step for the definite diagnosis. We report a case of GOC, that primary diagnosis was dentigerous cyst by biopsy, but the definite diagnosis was GOC after total extirpation of cyst. Because of a high recurrence rate of GOC, the patients should be followed for a long term
