LCG MCDB -- a Knowledgebase of Monte Carlo Simulated Events
In this paper we report on LCG Monte Carlo Data Base (MCDB) and software
which has been developed to operate MCDB. The main purpose of the LCG MCDB
project is to provide a storage and documentation system for sophisticated
event samples simulated for the LHC collaborations by experts. In many cases,
the modern Monte Carlo simulation of physical processes requires expert
knowledge in Monte Carlo generators or significant amount of CPU time to
produce the events. MCDB is a knowledgebase mainly dedicated to accumulate
simulated events of this type. The main motivation behind LCG MCDB is to make
the sophisticated MC event samples available for various physical groups. All
the data from MCDB is accessible in several convenient ways. LCG MCDB is being
developed within the CERN LCG Application Area Simulation project
TauSpinner program for studies on spin effect in tau production at the LHC
Final states involving tau leptons are important components of searches for
new particles at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). A proper treatment of tau
spin effects in the Monte Carlo (MC) simulations is important for understanding
the detector acceptance as well as for the measurements of tau polarization and
tau spin correlations. In this note we present a TauSpinner package designed to
simulate the spin effects. It relies on the availability of the four-momenta of
the taus and their decay products in the analyzed data. The flavor and the
four-momentum of the boson decaying to the tau-tau+ or tau+- nu pair need to be
known. In the Z/gamma* case the initial state quark configuration is attributed
from the intermediate boson kinematics, and the parton distribution functions
(PDF's). TauSpinner is the first algorithm suitable for emulation of tau spin
effects in tau-embedded samples. It is also the first tool that offers the user
the flexibility to simulate a desired spin effect at the analysis level. An
algorithm to attribute tau helicity states to a previously generated sample is
also provided.Comment: 13 pages, 6 figures New feature, an algorithm to attribute tau

It should have increased roughness and evenness, as well as strength and stability of the road surface as a whole. One of the materials that most meet these requirements is cast asphalt concrete. The use of cast asphalt concrete in world road construction has been steadily increasing in recent years. This work is devoted to a unique building material, known to mankind since ancient times, but little familiar to the modern specialist in the field of road materials science
CompHEP-PYTHIA interface: integrated package for the collision events generation based on exact matrix elements
CompHEP, as a partonic event generator, and PYTHIA, as a generator of final
states of detectable objects, are interfaced. Thus, integrated tool is proposed
for simulation of (almost) arbitrary collision processes at the level of
detectable particles. Exact (multiparticle) matrix elements, convolution with
structure functions, decays, partons hadronization and (optionally) parton
shower evolution are basic stages of calculations. The PEVLIB library of event
generators for LHC processes is described.Comment: Standard LaTeX, 4 pages. To appear in the proceedings of the Seventh

Research of GIS-services applicability for solution of spatial analysis tasks
Experiments for working out the areas of applying various gis-services in the tasks of spatial analysis are discussed in this paper. Google Maps, Yandex Maps, Microsoft SQL Server are used as services of spatial analysis. All services have shown a comparable speed of analyzing the spatial data when carrying out elemental spatial requests (building up the buffer zone of a point object) as well as the preferences of Microsoft SQL Server in operating with more complicated spatial requests. When building up elemental spatial requests, internet-services show higher efficiency due to cliental data handling with JavaScript-subprograms. A weak point of public internet-services is an impossibility to handle data on a server side and a barren variety of spatial analysis functions. Microsoft SQL Server offers a large variety of functions needed for spatial analysis on the server side. The authors conclude that when solving practical problems, the capabilities of internet-services used in building up routes and completing other functions with spatial analysis with Microsoft SQL Server should be involved
Parton Distributions for Event Generators
In this paper, conventional Global QCD analysis is generalized to produce
parton distributions optimized for use with event generators at the LHC. This
optimization is accomplished by combining the constraints due to existing
hard-scattering experimental data with those from anticipated cross sections
for key representative SM processes at LHC (by the best available theory) as
joint input to the global analyses. The PDFs obtained in these new type of
global analyses using matrix elements calculated in any given order will be
best suited to work with event generators of that order, for predictions at the
LHC. This is most useful for LO event generators at present. Results obtained
from a few candidate PDF sets (labeled as CT09MCS, CT09MC1 and CT09MC2) for LO
event generators produced in this way are compared with those from other
approaches.Comment: 35 pages, 19 figures, and 4 table
HERWIG 6.4 Release Note
A new release of the Monte Carlo program HERWIG (version 6.4) is now
available. The main new features are: spin correlations between the production
and decay of heavy fermions, i.e. top quarks, tau leptons and SUSY particles;
polarization effects in SUSY production processes in lepton-lepton collisions;
an interface to TAUOLA for tau decays; MSSM Higgs processes in lepton-lepton
collisions
Herwig++ 2.1 Release Note
A new release of the Monte Carlo program Herwig++ (version 2.1) is now available. This version includes a number of significant improvements including: an eikonal multiple parton-parton scattering model of the underlying event; the inclusion of Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) physics; and a new hadronic decay model tuned to LEP data. This version of the program is now fully ready for the simulation of events in hadron-hadron collisions
