    Testing Electron-phonon Coupling for the Superconductivity in Kagome Metal CsV3Sb5\rm{CsV_3Sb_5}

    Full text link
    In crystalline materials, electron-phonon coupling (EPC) is a ubiquitous many-body interaction that drives conventional Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer superconductivity. Recently, in a new kagome metal CsV3Sb5\rm{CsV_3Sb_5}, superconductivity that possibly intertwines with time-reversal and spatial symmetry-breaking orders is observed. Density functional theory calculations predicted weak EPC strength,λ\lambda, supporting an unconventional pairing mechanism in CsV3Sb5\rm{CsV_3Sb_5}. However, experimental determination of λ\lambda is still missing, hindering a microscopic understanding of the intertwined ground state of CsV3Sb5\rm{CsV_3Sb_5}. Here, using 7-eV laser-based angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and Eliashberg function analysis, we determine an intermediate λ\lambda=0.45~0.6 at T=6 K for both Sb 5p and V 3d electronic bands, which can support a conventional superconducting transition temperature on the same magnitude of experimental value in CsV3Sb5\rm{CsV_3Sb_5}. Remarkably, the EPC on the V 3d-band enhances to λ\lambda~0.75 as the superconducting transition temperature elevated to 4.4 K in Cs(V0.93Nb0.07)3Sb5\rm{Cs(V_{0.93}Nb_{0.07})_3Sb_5}. Our results provide an important clue to understand the pairing mechanism in the Kagome superconductor CsV3Sb5\rm{CsV_3Sb_5}.Comment: To appear in Nature Communication

    High Crystallinity Vertical Few-Layer Graphene Grown Using Template Method Assisted ICPCVD Approach

    No full text
    Controllable synthesis of high crystallinity, low defects vertical few-layer graphene (VFLG) is significant for its application in electron emission, sensor or energy storage, etc. In this paper, a template method was introduced to grow high crystallinity VFLG (HCVFLG). A copper mask acted as a template which has two effects in the high-density plasma enhanced deposition which are protecting VFLG from ion etching and creating a molecular gas flow to assist efficient growth. Raman and TEM results confirmed the improved crystallinity of VFLG with the assistance of a copper mask. As a field emitter, the HCVFLG has a large field emission current and a low turn-on field. The maximum field emission current of a single HCVFLG sheet reaches 93 μA which is two orders of magnitude higher than VFLG grown without a mask. The maximum current density of HCVFLG film reached 67.15 mA/cm2 and is 2.6 times of VFLG grown without a mask. The vacuum breakdown mechanism of HCVFLG was contacted interface damage resulting in VFLG detaching from the substrate. This work provides a practical strategy for high-quality VFLG controllable synthesis and provides a simple method to realize the pattern growth of VFLG

    Optimizing Performance of Coaxis Planar-Gated ZnO Nanowire Field-Emitter Arrays by Tuning Pixel Density

    Gated ZnO nanowire field emitter arrays (FEAs) have important applications in large-area vacuum microelectronic devices such as flat panel X-ray sources and photodetectors. As the application requires high-pixel-density FEAs, how the pixel density affects the emission performance of the gated ZnO nanowire FEAs needs investigating. In this paper, the performance of coaxis planar -gated ZnO nanowire FEAs was simulated under different pixel sizes while keeping the lateral geometric parameter in proportion. The variations in emission current and gate modulation with pixel size were obtained. Using the obtained device parameters, the coaxis planar-gated ZnO nanowire FEAs were prepared. Field emission measurement results showed that a current density of 3.2 mA/cm2 was achieved from the fabricated ZnO nanowire FEAs when the gate voltage was 140 V. A transconductance of 253 nS was obtained, indicating effective gate control. The improved performance is attributed to optimized gate modulation

    A Carbon-Nanotube Cold-Cathode Reflex Klystron Oscillator: Fabrication @ X-Band and Returning Electron Beam Realization

    No full text
    This paper presents the design and fabrication of a reflex klystron oscillator based on a carbon nanotube (CNT) cold-cathode. An X-band klystron oscillator structure is assembled with a CNT cold-cathode electron gun with an electrostatic focusing, a re-entrant cavity as anode, and a repeller. The electron gun adopts a convex CNT film emitter as the cathode. A re-entrant cavity resonating at 8.376 GHz is fabricated. The study mainly focuses on the returning electron beam in the klystron oscillator structure. The experimental results of variations of the anode current and returning electron beam amplitude with repeller voltage are presented. It is demonstrated that a higher extracting voltage of the cold-cathode has an important influence on the returning electron beam. To decelerate electron velocity from the extracting voltage, increasing negative focusing voltage and focusing electrode height in the electron gun can improve the returning electron beam characteristics
