A case with pyoderma gangrenosum, after an abdominal surgery

    No full text
Pyoderma gangrenosum (PG) is a pathergy positive, ulcerative neutrophilic dermatosis. Pathergy phenomenon is described as a sterile pustule and an ulcer development after minor skin traumas like a bump or bruise, or needlestick injury. In the literature, there are PG cases associated with the pathergy phenomenon on the post-surgical scar tissue. It presents as a necrotic and an ulcerative lesion clinically and, debridement is performed mostly with wrong pre-diagnoses. Debridement makes the lesion get wider and the morbidity increase. There are some PG case reports in the literature which were ended up with amputation due to debridement of a lesion which was an overlooked PG. Herein, we present a case with a giant abdominal pyoderma gangrenosum developed after a surgery in the abdominal drainage site and has reached to 30 cm size after debridement. Primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma initially clinically considered to be pyoderma gangrenosum

Primary CD30+ anaplastic large cell lymphoma, which is generally seen in adults, is the second most common cutaneous T-cell lymphoma after mycosis fungoides. The lesions are characterized by red-brown plaque or nodules often with ulceration. Although usually solitary, there may occasionally be multiple lesions. Here in this case report, a 44-year old male patient with multifocal primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma is presented. Primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma is a rare disease especially when it is multifocal and has no systemic involvement like in this case. Therefore this case is found valuable to share. The importance of gamification on motivation of hotel employees

    No full text
Hotel establishments, have a labor intensive nature, are required to meet the needs of their customers by making optimum use of their human resources in order to gain a competitive advantage in the markets in which they operate. With this approach, many hotels try to increase their employees’ motivation by satisfying the various needs of their employees in order to retain their existing workforce. Highly motivated employees, whose wishes and needs are met, use their knowledge and skills to achieve the goals set by the hotel managements and play an important role in the hotels’ competitive advantage. This superior performance exhibited by the employees can only be achieved with a high motivation. For this reason, the hotel establishments need to identify and implement motivational tools suitable for the needs of employees by making use of today’s technology. One of the motivation-enhancing tools is gamification. Gamification is used as a tool to increase and activate employee motivation. Therefore, this study investigated whether gamification had effects on hotel employees to increase motivation and then, evaluated in a theoretical framework depending on the cause and effect relationship

Confluent and reticular papillomatosis is a rarely seen dermatosis. It is characterised by the joining together of brown, hyperkeratotic papules and plaques in a reticular pattern. It is generally seen in females in the 10-35 years age range and the etiology is not fully known. The case is here presented of a 40-year old female, diagnosed with confluent and reticular papillomatosis who responded well to isotretinoin treatment. [Med-Science 2017; 6(2.000): 367-8

    Cold Injury and Perniosis (Chilblain)

    No full text
Perniosis (chilblain) is inflammatory cutaneous lesions located on acral surfaces (fingers, toes, nose, aurikula) which present in association with cold exposure. They can appear as an idiopathic (primary) dermatosis or with an underlying autoimmune disease (secondary). The primary or idiopathic form is not associated with an underlying disease and is clinically indistinguishable from the secondary form. The secondary form is associated with an underlying condition such as connective tissue disease, monoclonal gammopathy, cryoglobulinemia, or chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. Histopathology cannot accurately help distinguish the primary from secondary forms of chilblains. This review aims to raise the awareness of perniosis to avoid excessive investigation and anxiety and to help patients with only appropriate simple advice and treatment.
