    . Lengkong sub-district is malaria-endemic areas with a high morbidity. In the past three years, there is a decrease in the number of malaria cas es, but the number of imported malaria cases has increased significantly from the migration of workers return ing from ma­laria-endemic areas outside Java. Epidemiological studies have been conducted with the aim of knowing the transmission factors associated with malaria incidence in the population of Lengkong, Sukabumi who ever migrated. Research conducted in the Cilangkap and Langkapjaya Village held in November 2011. The type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional study design. The study population is the all of community that perform mi­grate in 2011 and at the time of the study was in the villages. The data was collected by in­terviewing with respondents about the des ti nation of migration, length of stay in the area of migration, the use of chemoprophylaxis before leaving for migration, history of malaria at before, the health seeking, installation of wire netting on ventilation of house, the use of bed nets, and also the incidence of malaria as long as migration and at period of one month after discharge. The collected data is analyzed to determine relationship of each independent var­iable with the dependent variable. The results obtained from 100 respondents, 97% migra­tion to malaria-endemic areas, length of stay was 96% in > 1 month, 55% did not use chem­oprophylaxis, 57% had been sick with malaria at before, 69% seeking health to non health officer, 100% did not use bed nets, and house without wire netting, and also 26% had been exposed wit malaria. Bivariate analysis shows, the use of chemoprophylaxis, previous histo­ry of malaria and sought health treatment are factor associated with the incidence of malar­ia on labor migration

    The Effectiveness of Fixative Addition on Zodia (Evodia Suaveolens S.) and Rosemary (Rosmarinus Officinalis L.) Gel Against Aedes Aegypti

    Background: Aedes aegyptiis a mosquito is one of the vectors for dengue. One method of preventing dengue is to use bio insecticides from plants. A plant that is often used as a mosquito repellent is Zodia (Evodia suaveolens scheff) and Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis l.). Some studies have modified the dosage of bio insecticides to achieve more durable repellent, including developing a gel form. The aim of this study is to measure the protective effect of additional fixative material (patchouli oil) on Rosemary and Zodia repellent. Methods:This was an experimental study using gel made from essential oil of Rosemary flowers and Zodia leaves with concentrations of 0.1%, 0.5 %, 1 %, 2 %, 4 %, respectively. Control (+) group used N, N-diethyl-3 (methylbenzamide (DEET) on the arms, while control (-) group were arms with no treatment.The repellent was tested on the arms of trained volunteers, which were then observed every hour for six hours. The protective effectiveness was satisfactory if ≥90%. Results:Addition of fixative material increased the durability of repellent, starting from concentration of 2% for Rosemary and concentration of 4% for Zodia. The protective effectiveness was 90% for more than 6 hours. Conclusion:The modified gel of Zodia and Rosemary proved to be a potential repellent against Aedes aegyptimosquitos.     . High mobility amongst mining workers, demanding officer of Cineam Public Health Center can perform rapid diagnosis to the workers. Nowadays, many techniques are developed to detect the early transmission of malaria, begins from the clinical to the molecular, one of that techniques are Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs). This research has been conducted in the village of Pasirmukti district Cineam, Tasikmalaya in 2012. Objective of this paper is description RDT utilities as rapid diagnosing efforts on families who have family members as mine worker malaria endemic areas. Inclusion criteria for this study were family who have and do not have family members were working as workers in malaria-endemic areas at 2011 or 2012. Respondents were willing to participate in this study would be taken for examination RDT. Respondents were willing to participate in this study amounted to 256 people, and 5 of them positive Plasmodium malaria based on RDTs screening. Respondents who positive for malaria on RDTs test were 4 women with lower education background and work as a housewife, then a men with a background of secondary school education and are currently still as student. RDT is one of the malaria parasite tools which suitable for use in the Pasirmukti Village district Cineam - Tasikmalaya. However, keep in mind on how to storage and use in order to avoid errors both false-positive and false negatives test results

    Distribusi Kasus Malaria Di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Simpenan Kabupaten Sukabumi Tahun 2011

The number of malaria in Simpenan public health centre area needs a quick step in the patients finding by malaria microscopic officers, both by Active Case Detection (ACD) and Passive Case Detection (PCD). The objective of th is article is to determine the distribution of malaria cases at Simpenan public health centre in Sukabumi during 2011. Data collection was carried out by malaria officersfrom Simpenan public health centre by identifying malaria parasite with microscope to any gold miners who just got home and was having a highfever. Malaria cases during the year 2011 experienced an increasing trend (R2 = 0.0175) from January (8.86%) to December (15.18%), 79 cases of malaria was found and the peak of cases happened in December. Malaria was notfound in the age group of 0-14 years, but cases ofmalaria were found in productive age group (15-44 years old = 83%, 45-59 years old = 14%, 2: 60 years old = 3%), and also to all people working as gold miners in malaria-endemic areas i.e. Aceh, Bangka, Jambi, Kalimantan, Medan, Papua, Riau, and Sumbawa.     . Culex quinquetasciatus mosquito is increasing problem of public health, being the vector responsible for West Nile Virus and Filariasis. Clorpirifos (Organofosfat) and Metonil (Carbamat) were known to posses insecticide activity against insect. The study was aimed to examine effectiveness of Klorpirifos and Metonil as larvicide against C quinque­fasciatus larval. Klorpirifos a signijicantly higher larvicidal activity against 3th_4th instar larvae ofC quinquetasciatus than Metonil. The larval mortality was observed after 24 h ex­posure. The LC95 value of Klorpirifos and Metonil were 3,139 mg/lt and 9,045 mg/lt, against C quinquefasciatus. The mixed ofboth insecticide was LC95 value 2,823 mg/lt. The result of this study suggested that Klorpirifos more effective larvicide against C quinquefasciatus than Metonil

    Hubungan Keberadaan Pekerja Migrasi Ke Daerah Endemis Malaria Dan Jarak Ke Tempat Perkembangbiakan Vektor Dengan Keberadaan Parasit Malaria

    Penderita malaria di Kabupaten Tasikmalaya dan Sukabumi, didominasi oleh kasus impor penduduk migrasi yang bekerja di luar pulau Jawa. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor risiko penularan malaria yang berasal dari penduduk migrasi di kedua kabupaten tersebut. Sampel penelitian adalah keluarga yang mempunyai anggota keluarga pekerja migrasi di daerah endemis malaria dan yang tidak. Penelitian dilakukan dengan pemeriksaan rapid diagnostic test (RDT), pemeriksaan mikroskopis, interview pekerja migrasi, dan pemeriksaan Tempat Perkembangbiakan Vektor (TPV) malaria serta jaraknya ke rumah responden. Tidak ditemukan sampel positif malaria secara mikroskopis, tapi terdapat 10 sampel positif (SPR=2,47%) pada RDT. Keberadaan pekerja migrasi merupakan faktor risiko terjadinya malaria di wilayah tersebut (p=0,047). Jarak dari rumah ke TPV malaria adalah 3,34 - 1.486,50 m. Variasi jarak rumah dengan TPV tidak berhubungan dengan hasil pemeriksaan parasit malaria. Disimpulkan bahwa keberadaan anggota keluarga sebagai pekerja migrasi ke daerah endemis malaria, merupakan faktor risiko terjadinya kesakitan malaria di wilayah penelitian, sedangkan jarak dari rumah ke TPV bukan faktor risiko terjadinya kesakitan malaria di wilayah tersebut. Daerah tujuan pekerja migrasi di luar Pulau Jawa yang paling banyak terjadi kasus malaria pada pekerja migrasi asal Sukabumi adalah Provinsi Aceh dan asal Kabupaten Tasikmalaya adalah Provinsi Maluku
