Prospects for Rare Decays at Belle II
Belle II is an upcoming experiment at the next generation SuperKEKB e+e-
collider. It will record about 50 ab-1 of data mostly at the Y(4S) resonance.
The high statistics will allow precision measurements for rare decays, which
can be then compared with the Standard Model predictions in order to search
indirectly for new physics. We present the prospects for rare decay studies at
Belle II.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, CKM 2016 Conferenc
Mixed and discontinuous finite volume element schemes for the optimal control of immiscible flow in porous media
We introduce a family of hybrid discretisations for the numerical
approximation of optimal control problems governed by the equations of
immiscible displacement in porous media. The proposed schemes are based on
mixed and discontinuous finite volume element methods in combination with the
optimise-then-discretise approach for the approximation of the optimal control
problem, leading to nonsymmetric algebraic systems, and employing minimum
regularity requirements. Estimates for the error (between a local reference
solution of the infinite dimensional optimal control problem and its hybrid
approximation) measured in suitable norms are derived, showing optimal orders
of convergence
Level Set Topology Optimization of Load Carrying Heat Dissipation Devices
In this paper, we introduce a level set method topology optimization method of structures subjected to coupled mechanical and thermal loads. Different examples considering compliance minimization and stress minimization under temperature and volume constraints, and mass minimization under stress and temperature constraints, are presented. The p-norm of the stress field and temperature field is used to approximate the maximum stress and temperature, respectively. The developed method is applied in the design of an L-bracket and a battery package. The results show that designs obtained by ignoring the thermal or structural constraints can result in high values of temperature or stress, respectively
Search for the ηc2(1D) in e+e−→γηc2(1D)at √s near 10.6 GeV at Belle
For the first time we search for the in at , 10.58, and 10.867 GeV with data samples of , , and , respectively, accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider. No significant signal is observed in the mass range between 3.8 and . The upper limit at 90% confidence level on the product of the Born cross section for and branching fraction for is determined to be at near 10.6 GeV. © 2021 Published by the American Physical Societ
Measurements of branching fractions and asymmetry parameters of Ξc0→ΛK¯∗0 , Ξc0→Σ0 K¯∗0 , and Ξc0→Σ+ K∗− decays
Using a data sample of 980 fb−1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e− collider, we study the processes of Ξc0→ΛK¯∗0, Ξc0→Σ0K¯∗0, and Ξc0→Σ+K∗− for the first time. The relative branching ratios to the normalization mode of Ξc0→Ξ−π+ are measured to beB(Ξc0→ΛK¯∗0)/B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+)=0.18±0.02(stat.)±0.01(syst.),B(Ξc0→Σ0K¯∗0)/B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+)=0.69±0.03(stat.)±0.03(syst.),B(Ξc0→Σ+K∗−)/B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+)=0.34±0.06(stat.)±0.02(syst.), where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. We obtainB(Ξc0→ΛK¯∗0)=(3.3±0.3(stat.)±0.2(syst.)±1.0(ref.))×10−3,B(Ξc0→Σ0K¯∗0)=(12.4±0.5(stat.)±0.5(syst.)±3.6(ref.))×10−3,B(Ξc0→Σ+K∗0)=(6.1±1.0(stat.)±0.4(syst.)±1.8(ref.))×10−3, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and from B(Ξc0→Ξ−π+), respectively. The asymmetry parameters α(Ξc0→ΛK¯∗0) and α(Ξc0→Σ+K∗−) are 0.15 ± 0.22(stat.) ± 0.04(syst.) and −0.52 ± 0.30(stat.) ± 0.02(syst.), respectively, where the uncertainties are statistical followed by systematic.
