Review of Backpacking with the Saints: Wilderness Hiking as Spiritual Practice
This review shows how all journeys are not futile; how human frailty makes us holy, in a certain sense. This review shows the great depth of the sovereignty of the Good. And how Professor Lane shows us that while all feet are clay; some realise so and go beyond their own frailties to tap into that which can only be experienced. Professor Lane should not be called Lane because academic styles demand us to do so. He actually professes what he writes. If only one read the book then one will know what literature is. Literature is a journey. And not gobbledygook and blah. Wake up. COVID 19 and EBOLA are here. In my practise as a mental healthcare person, I am yet to hear a person call on Freud or Lacan or Marx, for that matter before going into wonderland. So take it or leave it; this is a great book. I have tried doing justice to Professor Lane's scholarship
On Atonement
This paper deals with the theme of Atonement. It is a rudimentary paper which has been prepared in a hurry in these trying times; especially for the use of students all over the world during the ongoing pandemic of COVID 19. It deals with the title of Atonement. The article should be cited properly if referred to by anyone. It is made open access since the author believes any knowledge worth sharing should be freely available to all
Nature of the glassy magnetic state in CuMnAl shape memory alloy
The magnetic ground state of the ferromagnetic shape memory alloy of nominal
composition CuMnAl was investigated. The sample
shows reentry of a glassy magnetic phase below the martensitic transition
temperature, which is found to have complex character with two distinct
anomalies in the temperature dependent ac susceptibility data. The sample
retains its glassy phase even below the second transition as evident from the
magnetic memory measurements in different protocols. Existence of two
transitions along with their observed nature suggest that the system can be
described by the mean field Heisenberg model of reentrant spin glass as
proposed by Gabay and Toulous. \cite{rsg-GT1} The sample provides a fascinating
example where a Gabay-Toulous type spin glass state is triggered by a first
order magneto-structural transition
Political Engagement through Debates: Young Citizens’ Reactions to the 2004 Presidential Debates
This study examines how exposure to a televised debate affects young citizens’ normative democratic tendencies, attitudes that have been linked to increased civic and political participation, including voting behavior. The authors also are interested in the confidence young citizens express in the political knowledge they possess—their political information efficacy—and specifically how confidence in one’s knowledge may be affected by exposure to such a sustained and “information-rich” source of campaign information as a 90-minute candidate debate. Findings reveal that debates strengthen, at least in the short term, democratic attitudes and also strengthen young citizens’ levels of political information efficacy
