Nāˆ—ā†’NĪ·ā€²N^*\to N \eta^\prime decays from photoproduction of Ī·ā€²\eta^\prime-mesons off protons

A study of the partial-wave content of the Ī³pā†’Ī·ā€²p\gamma p\to \eta^\prime p reaction in the fourth resonance region is presented, which has been prompted by new measurements of polarization observables for that process. Using the Bonn-Gatchina partial-wave formalism, the incorporation of new data indicates that the N(1895)1/2āˆ’N(1895)1/2^-, N(1900)3/2+N(1900)3/2^+, N(2100)1/2+N(2100)1/2^+, and N(2120)3/2āˆ’N(2120)3/2^- are the most significant contributors to the photoproduction process. New results for the branching ratios of the decays of these more prominent resonances to NĪ·ā€²N\eta^\prime final states are provided; such branches have not been indicated in the most recent edition of the Review of Particle Properties. Based on the analysis performed here, predictions for the helicity asymmetry EE for the Ī³pā†’Ī·ā€²p\gamma p\to \eta^\prime p reaction are presented.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, 3 table

The pd <--> pi+ t reaction around the Delta resonance

The pd pi+ t process has been calculated in the energy region around the Delta-resonance with elementary production/absorption mechanisms involving one and two nucleons. The isobar degrees of freedom have been explicitly included in the two-nucleon mechanism via pi-- and rho-exchange diagrams. No free parameters have been employed in the analysis since all the parameters have been fixed in previous studies on the simpler pp pi+ d process. The treatment of the few-nucleon dynamics entailed a Faddeev-based calculation of the reaction, with continuum calculations for the initial p-d state and accurate solutions of the three-nucleon bound-state equation. The integral cross-section was found to be quite sensitive to the NN interaction employed while the angular dependence showed less sensitivity. Approximately a 4% effect was found for the one-body mechanism, for the three-nucleon dynamics in the p-d channel, and for the inclusion of a large, possibly converged, number of three-body partial states, indicating that these different aspects are of comparable importance in the calculation of the spin-averaged observables.Comment: 40 Pages, RevTex, plus 5 PostScript figure

Surface acoustic wave-induced electroluminescence intensity oscillation in planar light-emitting devices

Electroluminescence emission from surface acoustic wave-driven light-emitting diodes (SAWLEDs) is studied by means of time-resolved techniques. We show that the intensity of the SAW-induced electroluminescence is modulated at the SAW frequency (~1 GHz), demonstrating electron injection into the p-type region synchronous with the SAW wavefronts.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure
