    Get PDF
From decades of research, electroencephalography (EEG) has been proved as a potential non-invasive medical technique to measure the electrophysiological activities of brain. Alpha is one of the most prominent frequency bands of EEG because of its applications in cognitive enhancement and biofeedback methods. 300 participants were included in the present study to investigate the relationships between their cognitive performance and Peak Alpha Frequency (PAF). Brain activity was recorded from all significant brain regions in 250 participants and only from occipital region in 50 participants. The aim of the present study was to ensure the brain region which is the most dominant one to measure PAF/ IAF. Power Spectrum Density (PSD) method was used for EEG signal analysis. Interrelationship among PAF, IAF and PAF of six individual electrode positions was also explored. Findings reveled that parieto- occipital electrode points are sufficient to assess one’s peak alpha frequency

This paper presents some findings of Indian manufacturing sectors viz. automobile (especially two-wheeler), tractor and general manufacturing industry. Various manufacturing strategy issues such as competitive priorities, improvement activities, and performance measures, have been identified and assessed in Indian context. Sector wise comparison of competitive priorities, improvement activities i.e. advanced manufacturing technology (AMT), integrated information systems (IIS), and advanced management systems (AMS), and performance measure, is provided. Our results showed that most of the Indian companies are still emphasizing on quality. However, automobile sector has set to compete globally with high innovation rate, faster new product development, and continuous improvement. It is also observed that Indian companies are investing more in AMS as compared to IIS and AMT. Manufacturing competence index is also computed for each sector

AbstractObjective: For last few decades Knowledge Management (KM) has emerged as the widely discussed and researched phenomenon around the globe, but it been a challenging phenomenon as all organisations are trying to achieve and maintain its competitive advantage in today's global competitive environment. One aspect of doing this is to build knowledge repositories. The issues can be address by strategically associating knowledge management to human resource management in the organization. The strategic use of human resource management within the management of knowledge helps an organization to have innovation, better performance and resultant competitive advantage. However, in order to optimize the capabilities of organizational knowledge, it is necessary to manage that knowledge strategically. The present paper focus on the aspect by relying on a large amount of existing literature, which is mostly theoretical in nature. There are many areas within the discussed field that would be benefited from conclusions of further research on the aspect.Method: The study include the extant review of published research in the form of books and research paper by different eminent authors on the selected issue which is the combinations of theoretical and empirical findings of their work. Results: It was found that the concept of knowledge management though is a vibrant issue in today's hyper competitive market of  knowledge economy around the globe  but still the focus of many organisations is one the single aspect of its i.e. ‘Technology' and they leave another crucial aspect of knowledge management (KM) that is termed as ‘people'. Who actually are repositories and owners of this aspect; ultimately, it is their knowledge and learning in the form of tacit and explicit knowledge that is responsible for competitive advantage and ultimately success of an organisation. Conclusion: The present paper focus on the issue of associating knowledge management with that of human resource management of an organisation with a view to provide clear understanding of the concept. It helps policy makers and management players to develop and implement an optimal blend of structural and organisational structure that help them to  sustain in today's knowledge economy with the optimal use of their most crucial intangible asset meaning therseby the knowledge of their employees. The example of big industrial houses like Infosys and Tata ; banks like ICICI and telecom sector like Airtel proves that after focusing on the optimal blend of knowledge Management (KM) and human resource management(HRM) they out beat the competitors of their industries and work as gold players in the said industry

Mission Statements drive the strategic planning process of organizations. Mission Statements adorn the receptions and websites of organizations the world over. It is a mission statement which defines the role that the organization plays in the society. A mission statement speaks about the essential purpose of the organization, concerning with why it is in existence, the nature of business it is in and the customers it seeks to serve and satisfy. Importance of mission statement in achieving vision pushes the organization to have a mission statement. On contrary there are several organizations that do not have any mission statement and doing well in business. This paper studies whether the mission statement plays a deciding role in growth and performance of any organization. Necessary statistical tools are used to analyse the data

COLD BEAM INJECTION IN RELATIVISTIC EMEC WAVE FOR KAPPA DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION WITH AC FIELD FOR MAGNETO-PLASMA

    Get PDF
The effect of cold electron beam on electromagnetic electron cyclotron (EMEC) wave has been studied by using the unperturbed Lorentzian (Kappa) distribution in the magnetosphere for relativistic plasma. The dispersion relation is obtained by using the method of characteristic solutions and kinetic approach. An expression for the growth rate of a system has been calculated. It is inferred that in addition to the relativistic plasma obliquity and effect of cold electron beam modifies the growth rate and it also shifts the wave band significantly. The relativistic electrons by increasing the growth rate and widening the bandwidth may explain a wide frequency range of EMEC wave emissions in the magnetosphere

This study was planned to evaluate the antioxidant activity of ethyl acetate extract/fractions of Acacia nilotica Willd. Ex. Del extracted with different solvents of increasing and decreasing order of solvent polarity. The antioxidative activities, including the 1’-1’ diphenylpicryl-hydrazyl (DPPH) radical-scavenging effects, hydroxyl radical scavenging potential, chelating ability, reducing power and lipid peroxidation inhibition in rat tissue homogenate were studied in vitro. It was found that the antioxidative effect provided by extract/fractions was strongly concentration dependent and increased on fractionating the extract into water and ethyl acetate fractions. In general, the antioxidative activity increased with increasing extract/fractions concentration to a certain extent, and then leveled off with further increase in antioxidant activity. From a comparison of the antioxidant potential and IC 50 values for different antioxidative reactions, it seemed that extract/fractions were more effective in scavenging DPPH and hydroxyl radicals than reducing, chelating heavy metals and lipid peroxidation inhibitory potential
