Blocking Java Applets at the Firewall
This paper explores the problem of protecting a site on the Internet against hostile external Java applets while allowing trusted internal applets to run. With careful implementation, a site can be made resistant to current Java security weaknesses as well as those yet to be discovered. In addition, we describe a new attack on certain sophisticated firewalls that is most effectively realized as a Java applet
Study oin the growth of Olive ridley Lepidochelys olivacea in captivity
The growth of olive ridley lepidochelys olivacea in captivity has been studied from emergence to 47 months. The carapace
length increased from 37 mm at the time of emergence to 528 mm in 47 month old turtle and the weight increased from 16.3 gm
to 19.5 kg. The growth recorded here is higher than those reported by previous authors. Sex could not be differentiated externally
even in 47 month old olive ridley
Sea turtles
All five species of the turtles occurring in the Indian seas are
placed in Schedule I of the Indian Wildlife (Protection] Act 1972
thereby according them complete protection from exploitation. The
programme at the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute on
the conservation and management of endangered sea turtles generated
a good amount of awareness on sea turtles at various levels
and these efforts would go a long way in strengthening the
national effort in the conservation and management of sea turtles
The marine turtles and their conservation
Marine turtles of our waters are included in the The wild Life (Protection)
Act 1972, sechedule I. They are also been incorporated in
CITES. Capture of sea turtles is an offense under the existing laws
Evaluating alternatives for housing India's urban poor : design studies, model and application in Ahmedabad
Thesis (M.S.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Architecture, 1982.MICROFICHE COPY AVAILABLE IN ARCHIVES AND ROTCH.Includes bibliographical references (p. 68).The study evaluates the three alternatives identified by the (National) Planning Commission for housing the Urban Poor in India: Upgrading, site and services, and housing. The basis for evaluation is the relationship of the cost of development to the cost of each of the components in development and the number of beneficiaries. The framework for evaluation is proposed as a model to assist: 1 ) Project designers to identify the relative importance of the various design parameters in development and to indicate quickly to the concerned agencies the impact of standards and regulations, 2) State and local agencies to determine the affordable standards, and 3) Allocation of available National resources by choosing affordable alternatives for housing the urban poor. The application of the model is illustrated for Ahmedabad. Conclusions are drawn from the application and for a specific set of assumptions. The assumptions governing the values assigned to the parameters of the model are based on case studies and design studies for three low-income settlements in Ahmedabad.by Rajagopalan M. Palamadai.M.S
Seminar on Potential Marine Fishery Resources - Proceedings and Recommendations
The seminar was organized by the Central Marine Fisheries
Research Institute at Cochin on 23rd April 1986, marking the
occasion of the Institute's moving into its own permanent building.
The objective of the seminar was to find ways and means of
bridging the gap between the estimated potential marine fishery
resources of the country and the present level of actual yield
from the exploited stocks. Considering the increasing demand
for marine fish and the potential for export of marine products,
critical information on the presently exploited stocks and those
identified as under-exploited or unexploited resources is vitally
essential for suggesting management and other measures to obtain
optimum yields from these resources
Size composition and morphometry of incidentally captured sea turtles at Vizhinjam, south-west coast of India
The paper deals with the size composition of incidentally captured sea turtles in different fishing gear
Conservation of marine turtles and shrimp exports
Marine turtles are a group of harmless
reptiles inhabiting every ocean basin, the
distribution of some species ranging from
Arctic Circle to Tasmania
