The benefactors, who wish to remain anonymous, have named the series the Rice-Hasson Distinguished Lecture Series in honor of the late Notre Dame Law Professor Charles E.     The Latest News ND Law implements new DEI programming series to connect students and law firms Program on Church, State & Society helps Christian attorneys through the Legal Vocation Fellowship Sam Bray, along with William Baude of the University of Chicago, filled an amicus brief in the Supreme Court last week in a case about President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan. Although they call the plan “unlawful,” they urge the Supreme Court to reject the legal challenges that have been brought against it. Jay Tidmarsh examines how corporations use jurisdictional rules to gain power in his review of the Michigan Law Review article, “The Oligarchic Courthouse: Jurisdiction, Corporate Power, and Democratic Decline.” Nicole Garnett writes, Supreme Court Opens a Path to Religious Charter Schools for Education Next. The Religious Liberty Clinic was highlighted in an AALS survey for its strong commitment to pro bono work. Nicole Garnett and Rick Garnett are both editors of a new book, The Case for Parental Choice, authored by Jack Coons. Mary Ellen O\u27Connell was quoted in the South Bend Tribune article, South Bend plans to sue Dave Matthews over delayed downtown South Bend grocery store. Carter Snead will moderate a panel, Building a Civilization of Love, on January 19 at the National Press Club as part of the ND Ethics Center Women and Children\u27s Initiative. The Religious Liberty Clinic filed an amicus brief in November defending a Muslim man who was denied permission to engage in congregate religious worship and prayer outside of his jail cell.     Abstract The Latest News ND Law Review symposium features Q&A with Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh Stephanie Barclay will speak at the UC Hastings Law Journal\u27s annual symposium, The Present and Future of Religious Freedom on Feb 3. She will discuss the development of the Free Exercise Clause and the future of religious freedom. Diane Desierto has published, Global Perspectives on Teaching International Investment Arbitration: Teaching International Investment Arbitration in the Global North and the Global South in the Kluwer Arbitration Blog. Rick Garnett was also quoted in the Tablet article, Supreme Court to Hear Case of Postal Worker Forced to Work on Sundays. He also joined other law professors in filing an amicus brief in the case. David McIlroy is appearing in the United Kingdom Supreme Court on February 1-2, on behalf of the Consumer Association in the case of Barclays Bank v Philipp, which will decide the extent to which banks in England are liable for failing to prevent their customers falling victim to scams. Max Gaston joined ND Stories to talk about the Law School\u27s initiatives and the new DEI Podcast. John Meiser was quoted in a WUWM Milwaukee article, Muslim inmate denied rights to prayer by Wisconsin jail, about why the Religious Liberty Clinic filed an amicus brief in the case.
