Strong spatial dispersion in wire media in the very large wavelength limit
It is found that there exist composite media that exhibit strong spatial
dispersion even in the very large wavelength limit. This follows from the study
of lattices of ideally conducting parallel thin wires (wire media). In fact,
our analysis reveals that the description of this medium by means of a local
dispersive uniaxial dielectric tensor is not complete, leading to unphysical
results for the propagation of electromagnetic waves at any frequencies. Since
non--local constitutive relations have been usually considered in the past as a
second order approximation, meaningful in the short wavelength limit, the
aforementioned result presents a relevant theoretical interest. In addition,
since such wire media have been recently used as a constituent of some discrete
artificial media (or metamaterials), the reported results open the question of
the relevance of the spatial dispersion in the characterization of these
artificial media.Comment: MiKTex, 4 pages with 2 figures, submitted to PR
Methionine gamma lyase from clostridium sporogenes increases the anticancer efficacy of doxorubicin on A549 cancer cells in vitro and human cancer xenografts
The anticancer efficacy of methionine γ-lyase (MGL) from Clostridium sporogenes (C. sporogenes) is described. MGL was active against cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. Doxorubicin (DOX) and MGL were more effective on A549 human lung-cancer growth inhibition than either agent alone in vitro and in vivo. © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2019
Methionine gamma lyase from Clostridium sporogenes increases the anticancer effect of doxorubicin in A549 cells and human cancer xenografts
Summary: The anti-cancer efficacy of methionine γ-lyase (MGL) from Clostridium sporogenes (C. sporogenes) is described. MGL was active against cancer models in vitro and in vivo. The calculated EC50 values for MGL were 4.4 U/ml for A549, 7.5 U/ml for SK-BR3, 2.4 U/ml for SKOV3, and 0.4 U/ml for MCF7 cells. The combination of doxorubicin (DOX) and MGL was more effective for A549 human lung cancer growth inhibition than either agent alone in vitro and in vivo. MGL reduced the EC50 of doxorubicin from 35.9 μg/mL to 0.01–0.265 μg/mL. The growth inhibitory effect of DOX + MGL on A549 xenografts in vivo was reflective of the results obtained in vitro. The inhibition rate of tumor growth in the combined arm was 57%, significantly higher than that in the doxorubicin (p = 0.033)-alone arm. © 2018 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Natur

Shell effects in fusion-fission of heavy and superheavy nuclei
The process of fusion-fission of heavy and superheavy nuclei (SHE) with Z = 82-122 formed in the reactions with 48Ca and 58Fe ions at energies near and below the Coulomb barrier has been studied. The experiments were carried out at the U-400 accelerator of the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions (JINR) and at the XTU Tandem accelerator of the National Laboratory of Legnaro (LNL) using the time-of-flight spectrometer of fission fragments CORSET and the neutron multi-detector DEMON. As a result of the experiments, mass and energy distributions (MED) of fission fragments, fission, quasi-fission and evaporation residues cross sections, multiplicities of neutrons and γ quanta and their dependence on the mechanism of formation and decay of compound systems have been studied.SCOPUS: cp.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
