Overview of the BINP accelerator complex

    No full text
The overview of two running BINP electron-positron colliders VEPP-4M and VEPP-2000 is presented. Since 2016 both colliders are joint to the single accelerator complex via common injector that supplies more intensive beams. In 2017 VEPP-2000 started data taking after 3 years of upgrade. The project of Super-Charm-Tau factory waits for the final government’s approval being considered as one of 6 mega-science project in Russia

Final focus designs for crab waist colliders

    No full text
The crab waist collision scheme promises significant luminosity gain. The successful upgrade of the DAΦ\PhiNE collider proved the principle of crab waist collision and increased luminosity 3 times. Therefore, several new projects try to implement the scheme. The paper reviews interaction region designs with the crab waist collision scheme for already existent collider DAΦ\PhiNE and SuperKEKB, presently undergoing commissioning, for the projects of SuperB in Italy, CTau in Novosibirsk and FCC-ee at CERN

Notes on the nonlinear beam dynamics with strong damping in the CLIC Damping Ring

    No full text
The beam is injected into the CLIC damping ring with the relatively large emittance and energy spread and then is damped to the extremely low phase volume. During the damping process the betatron frequency of each particle changes due to the space charge tune shift and nonlinear dependence of the betatron tune on the amplitude. This nonlinearity is produced by the strong chromatic sextupoles, wiggler nonlinear field components and, again, by the space charge force. During the damping, the particle cross resonances, which can trap some fraction of the beam, cause the loss of intensity, the beam blow up and degrade the beam quality. In this paper we study the evolution of the beam distribution in time during the damping for the original lattice of the CLIC DR (May 2005). Geneva, Switzerland June 2010 CLIC – Note – 85

Design of Beam Optics for the FCC-ee Collider Ring

    No full text
A design of beam optics will be presented for the FCC-ee double-ring collider. The main characteristics are 45 to 175 GeV beam energy, 100 km circumference with two IPs/ring, 30 mrad crossing angle at the IP, crab-waist scheme with local chromaticity correction system, and "tapering" of the magnets along with the local beam energy. An asymmetric layout near the interaction region suppresses the critical energy of synchrotron radiation toward the detector at the IP less than 100 keV, while keeping the geometry as close as to the FCC-hh beam line. A sufficient transverse/longitudinal dynamic aperture is obtained to assure the lifetime with beamstrahlung and top-up injection. The synchrotron radiation in all magnets, the IP solenoid and its compensation, nonlinearity of the final quadrupoles are taken into account

DAΦPNE setup and performances during the second FINUDA run

    No full text
Beam operations at DAΦPNE restarted in October 2006 after a four months shut-down to remove the KLOE experimental detector and to install the FINUDA one. This period has been also used for maintenance and implementation of several upgrades. Already in the first two months of operation the peak and integrated luminosity exceeded the values obtained during the first FINUDA run by 20%, and have been steadily improving toward the end of the operation. By June 2007 ˜ 1 fb-1 integrated luminosity has been logged by the experiment. The collider performances during the run are presented together with the improvements obtained in terms of beam dynamics and beam-beam behaviour coming from several collider modifications

    DAΦ\PhiNE Upgrade Status

    No full text
International audienceThe DAΦNE Φ-factory at INFN-LNF has been upgraded in the second half of 2007 with the scope of testing a recently proposed scheme of crab waist collisions. New vacuum chambers and permanent quadrupole magnets have been designed, fabricated and installed to realize the new configuration. The ring injection systems have been also modified with the installation of new stripline fast injection kickers. Moreover the old bellows have been substituted by the new ones and all ion clearing electrodes in the electron ring have been removed. In the talk we describe the new layout as well as several experimental results obtained during the new run
