A New Record of Cymatium encausticum (Ranellidae: Tonnoidea: Gastropoda) from Korea

    Get PDF
The Cymatium Roding, 1798 is a small- to large-sized marine gastropod genus. Three species has been reported thus far for Cymatium in the Korean waters. In general, Cymatium encausticum (Reeve, 1844) is known to occur in tropical seawaters including the Philippine Islands along with its congeners C. gutturnium, C. springsteeni, and C. exile. A single individual of the species was collected from Jejudo Island by SCUBA diving and morphological features were observed using a stereomicroscope. This is the first study to report the occurrence of Cymatium encausticum (Reeve, 1844) from the Korean waters, providing a detailed description of the species with the illustration for the shell morphology

Exploring Puffed Rice as a Novel Ink for 3D Food Printing: Rheological Characterization and Printability Analysis

This study introduces a novel approach by using puffed rice (PR) as a sustainable and innovative ink for 3D food printing. Due to gelatinization and dextrinization, PR saw notable water absorption and solubility gains, with a modest viscosity uptick from 39.2 to 49.9 RVU, sharply contrasting Native rice (NR)'s jump from 128.9 to 167.8 RVU, emphasizing PR's minimal retrogradation. Gelatinized rice (GR) demonstrates similar stability in viscosity changes as PR, yet it requires more water and extended processing times for gelatinization. Conversely, PR's puffing process, which eliminates the need for water, offers quicker preparation and notable environmental benefits. Rheological analysis at 25% PR concentration reveals an optimal balance of viscosity (η, 897.4 Pa s), yield stress (τy, 2471.3 Pa), and flow stress (τf, 1509.2 Pa), demonstrating superior viscoelastic properties that facilitate enhanced printability and shape fidelity. Texture Profile Analysis outcomes reveals that PR significantly enhances key textural properties including hardness, adhesiveness, and springiness at this specific concentration. These findings highlight PR's potential as an eco-friendly and efficient ink choice for 3D-printed food products, providing enhanced performance and sustainability compared to GR and NR.Research Program for Agricultural Science & Technology Development (Project No. PJ01728201); National Institute of Agricultural Science, Rural Development Administration, Republic of Korea

Towards standardizing Korean Grammatical Error Correction: Datasets and Annotation

Research on Korean grammatical error correction (GEC) is limited compared to other major languages such as English and Chinese. We attribute this problematic circumstance to the lack of a carefully designed evaluation benchmark for Korean. Thus, in this work, we first collect three datasets from different sources (Kor-Lang8, Kor-Native, and Kor-Learner) to cover a wide range of error types and annotate them using our newly proposed tool called Korean Automatic Grammatical error Annotation System (KAGAS). KAGAS is a carefully designed edit alignment & classification tool that considers the nature of Korean on generating an alignment between a source sentence and a target sentence, and identifies error types on each aligned edit. We also present baseline models fine-tuned over our datasets. We show that the model trained with our datasets significantly outperforms the public statistical GEC system (Hanspell) on a wider range of error types, demonstrating the diversity and usefulness of the datasets.Comment: Add affiliation and email addres

Power Management of Nanogrid Cluster with P2P Electricity Trading Based on Future Trends of Load Demand and PV Power Production

This paper presents the power management of the nanogrid clusters assisted by a novel peer-to-peer(P2P) electricity trading. In our work, unbalance of power consumption among clusters is mitigated by the proposed P2P trading method. For power management of individual clusters, multi-objective optimization simultaneously minimizing total power consumption, portion of grid power consumption, and total delay incurred by scheduling is attempted. A renewable power source photovoltaic(PV) system is adopted for each cluster as a secondary source. The temporal surplus of self-supply PV power of a cluster can be sold through P2P trading to another cluster (s) experiencing temporal power shortage. The cluster in temporal shortage of electric power buys the PV power to reduce peak load and total delay. In P2P trading, a cooperative game model is used for buyers and sellers to maximize their welfare. To increase P2P trading efficiency, future trends of load demand and PV power production are considered for power management of each cluster to resolve instantaneous unbalance between load demand and PV power production. To this end, a gated recurrent unit network is used to forecast future load demand and future PV power production. Simulations verify the effectiveness of the proposed P2P trading for nanogrid clusters.Comment: This article is submitted for publication in Sustainable Cities and Societ

Technologies for detecting leaks of gases and measuring gaseous concentrations have been widely developed with every sensor type. To manufacture excellent gas leak detector, an excellent gas sensors are necessary parts. In this research, the design of a system to simultaneously measure performances of five gas sensors is introduced. That system need the components of measuring appliances, sensing circuits, control firmware, and PC software to be operated. Also the performances to test gas sensors need response characteristics, accuracy, and repeatability according to output signals for injecting gas amounts into gas sensors. The firmware is implemented to operate sensors and to acquire output data against for input of sensors in real time. Acquired data were stored in the text file according to every sensor during a pre-set measurement interval. Software is coded to draw graphs of the voltage values measured by each sensor in real time. Using proposed a testing system we showed how to test response characteristics and induce better calibration equations of five sensors. This paper compared experimental data of five sensors and verified which gas sensor is the best
