    An analysis of equity markets cointegration in the european sovereign debt crisis

    A simplified presentation of an empirical finding in the portfolio diversification literature is that diversifying across countries is more effective in reducing risks than diversifying across industries. While the linear approach is not designed to capture a significant integration, this is not the case when Gregory and Hansen cointegration tests are used to assess this relation by allowing for instability in these long-run relations. The present work investigates the existence of long-run relations between the Portuguese and other markets under stress. Interestingly, the only market that did not follow this trend was Spain. In overall, our results found six cointegration vectors: two within the group of European emerging markets (Portugal, Italy and Ireland) and the other four between the Portuguese market and the mature markets (France, United Kingdom, Germany and United States)

    Este trabalho apresenta a concepção, criação, implementação e disponibilização deste questionário eletrônico on-line, atualmente disponível nos websites da Agência de Informação Embrapa (www.agencia.cnptia.embrapa.br) e Catálogo de Produtos e Serviços (http://www.catalogosnt.cnptia.embrapa.br). A concepção e criação do questionário ocorreram em março e abril de 2010 por meio de uma tarefa colaborativa das equipes responsáveis pela manutenção dos dois websites envolvidos. No total foram elaboradas 16 questões para cobrir os objetivos acima mencionados. Já a implementação do questionário envolveu a utilização de uma variedade de ferramentas e tecnologias

    Modeling and simulation of micro direct methanol Fuel Cells

    Fuel cells have unique technological attributes: efficiency, absence of moving parts and low emissions. The Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) has attracted much attention due to its potential applications as a power source for transportation and portable electronic devices. With the advance of micromachining technologies, miniaturization of power sources became one of the trends of evolution of research in this area. Based on the advantages of the scaling laws, miniaturization promises higher efficiency and performance of power generating devices, so, MicroDMFC is an emergent technology. Models play an important role in fuel cell development since they facilitate a better understanding of parameters affecting the performance of fuel cells. In this work, a steady state, one-dimensional model accounting for coupled heat and mass transfer, along with the electrochemical reactions occurring in a fuel cell, already developed and validated for DMFC in [1-3], is used to predict Micro DMFC performance. The model takes in account all relevant phenomena occurring in a DMFC. Polarization curves predicted by the model are compared with experimental data existing in literature and the model shows good agreement, mainly for lower current densities. The model is used to predict some important parameters to analyze fuel cell performance, such as water transport coefficient and leakage current density. This easily to implement simplified model is suitable for use in real-time MicroDMFC simulations
