The recommendation system knowledge representation and reasoning procedures under uncertainty for metal casting

    Get PDF
The paper presents an information system dedicated to requirements recommendation and knowledge sharing. It presents methodology of constructing domain knowledge base and application procedure on the example of production technology of Austempered Ductile Iron (ADI). For knowledge representation and reasoning Logic of Plausible Reasoning (LPR) is used. Both equally applicable LPR for formalization the knowledge of foundry technology, as well as the described system solution have the unique character

Exploration of WEB resources in the domain of metal processing technologies

    Get PDF
The amount of information contained in the WEB grows in a galloping way, which is caused by the spread of Internet access and lowering the cost of storing and sharing data across the network. The vast amount of data, impossible to be analyzed by human, is the reason why finding and selecting valuable information has become a serious problem. Due to this situation, a highly useful and desired solution would be the development of a system that would allow continuous monitoring of the WEB and finding for the user valuable information from the selected Internet resources. This paper describes the concept of such a system, along with its initial implementation and application to search for information in the field of foundry industry

Building multi-agent models applied to supply chain management

    No full text
In this paper, a model of a multi-agent system for modelling and optimising supply chains is presented. The most popular methodologies of developing multi-agent systems and selected applications of the agent approach to modelling and optimisation of supply chains are described in brief. A pilot realisation of such a system is also presented, together with a selection of the subsequent experimental results obtained

    Profile-based architecture of evolutionary MAS

    No full text
A sub-type of multi-agent systems (MAS) called evolutionary ones (EMAS), special in its features and field of application, needs a dedicated architecture that would be more adequate and easier in design and implementation. The proposed architecture uses the notion of a profile which models strategies and goals of an agent with respect to an aspect of its operation. To make a decision, an agent is equipped with an algorithm that coordinates premises determined in its profiles. The paper presents main ideas of the architecture illustrated with an actual realisation of an EMAS solving the multi-objective optimisation problem

The Heuristic Model Based on LPR in the Context of Material Conversion

    No full text
High complexity of the physical and chemical processes occurring in liquid metal is the reason why it is so difficult, impossible even sometimes, to make analytical models of these phenomena. In this situation, the use of heuristic models based on the experimental data and experience of technicians is fully justified since, in an approximate manner at least, they allow predicting the mechanical properties of the metal manufactured under given process conditions. The study presents a methodology applicable in the design of a heuristic model based on the formalism of the logic of plausible reasoning (LPR). The problem under consideration consists in finding a technological variant of the process that will give the desired product parameters while minimizing the cost of production. The conducted tests have shown the effectiveness of the proposed approach

Development of INFOCAST - information system for foundry industry

    No full text
The article presents the current state of development of INFOCAST - an information decision system supporting technological problems of the foundry industry. Two aspects of the system are related: enrichment of its information and knowledge resources and changes in architecture, both oriented towards improvement of its applicability. The reported stage of development of INFOCAST is characterized by a close integration of its data and knowledge bases by means of the agent-based technology. Due to decentralization, the knowledge and information can be used not only in research and design activities, but also in the exploitation of technological processes

On BAN logics for industrial security protocols

    No full text
This paper reports on two case-studies of applying BAN logic to industrial strength security protocols. These studies demonstrate the flexibility of the BAN language, as it caters for the addition of appropriate constructs and rules. We argue that, although a semantical foundation of the formalism is lacking, BAN logic provides an intuitive and powerful technique for security analysis
