On the topology of elliptic singularities

For any elliptic normal surface singularity with rational homology sphere link we consider a new elliptic sequence, which differs from the one introduced by Laufer and S. S.-T. Yau. However, we show that their length coincide. Using the properties of both sequences we succeed to connect the common length with the geometric genus and also with several topological invariants, e.g. with the Seiberg--Witten invariant of the link

Mechanical and thermal induced phase transformations in superduplex stainless steel

The aim of this work is to study the microstructural changes in SAF 2507 type superduplex stainless steel due to heat treatments and mechanical fatigue process. Specimens were heat treated in the 400-1360 °C temperature range for 1 and 5 hours respectively. An other series of specimens were periodically loaded by using a fatigue testing machine. The microstuctural changes were investigated by using a complex micromagnetic measuring system which includes a Barkhausen noise measuring and a magnetic harmonic analysing system. The RMS value of the Barkhausen noise, the distortion factor (k), and magnetic coercivity values were measured. A harci kutatás-mentés a II. világháború kiterjedt légi műveletei során vált a haderő képességeinek részévé. Megfelelő helyen és időben történő alkalmazásával kritikus harci képességek és emberi erőforrások óvhatók meg, miközben az ellenséget értékes felderítési adatoktól fosztja meg. Kiemelkedő jelentősége van a harci morál, és végsősoron a harci képességek fenntartásában. A cikk röviden ismerteti a német, angol és amerikai tengeri légi kutatás-mentés kezdeti lépéseit, bemutatja a feladat végrehajtás során alkalmazott eszközöket, kiképzési módszereket, valamint az egyes országok által használt eljárásokat. | Combat search and rescue became a part of military operational capabilities with the advent of largescale air operations during World War II. Applying in the right time and right place preserves critical combat resources while denying the enemy from a potential intelligence source. It is a key element in sustaining the morale, cohesion, and, ultimately, the operational performance of friendly forces. The article shortly describes the initial steps of German, English and US air sea rescue, and the procedures, training and equipments used by theese countries

HARCI KUTATÁS-MENTÉS AZ 1990-1991-es ÖBÖLHÁBORÚBAN

Az Öbölháború légi hadjárata alatt a koalíciós erők 109876 [1] bevetést hajtottak végre iraki célpontok ellen, melyek eredményeként megsemmisítették Irak légierejét, szárazföldi erőinek többségét és a nemzeti infrastruktú-ra nagy részét. Az erős és szervezett iraki légvédelem ellenére a szövetséges erők veszteségei viszonylag alacso-nyak voltak, mindössze 43 repülőgépet veszítettek ellenséges tűz következtében. Ugyanakkor a személyi mentése-ket tekintve a légi hadjárat során lelőtt 64 gépszemélyzet tag közül csak 3-at sikerült kiemelni. A cikk megvizs-gálja, hogy mely körülmények segítették elő a veszteségek alacsony szinten tartását, valamint a harci kutató-mentő műveletek végrehajtásának részleteit, alacsony hatékonyságának lehetséges okait. | Over the air campaign of the Gulf War the coalition forces had a total of 109876 sorties against Iraqi targets, while destroyed the air force, a major portion of its army, and a large portion of the national infrastructure. In spite of the strong and well organized Iraqi air defense system the coalition forces’ losses were relatively few, with only 43 aircraft lost in combat. At the same time concerning the personal recovery only three of 64 downed aircrews were successfully picked up. The article investigates the circumstances leading to the low losses, the details of the combat search and rescue operations and the possible reasons of their low efficiency

A harci kutatás-mentés megfelelő helyen és időben történő alkalmazásával kritikus harci képességek és emberi erőforrások óvhatók meg. Kiemelkedő jelentősége van a harci morál, és végső soron a harci képességek fenntartásában. A vietnámi konfliktus kezdetén az amerikai légierő nem rendelkezett a feladat hatékony végrehajtásához szükséges képességekkel. A háború végére a helyzet gyökeresen megváltozott, a tapasztalatok alapján olyan ütőképes szervezetet hoztak létre, mely lefektette az alapjait a mai modern harci kutatás-mentésnek. A cikk rövid történelmi áttekintés után ismerteti a harci kutatás-mentés fejlődésének lépéseit a vietnámi háború alatt, beleértve a szervezeti változásokat, technikai eszközök fejlődését, valamint az új harceljárások kidolgozását is. | Applying combat search and rescue in the right time and right place preserves critical combat resources. It is a key element in sustaining the morale, and ultimately, the operational performance of friendly forces. At the beginning of the Vietnam conflict US Airforce did not have the capabilities for efficient combat search and rescue mission. By the end of the war the situation had completely changed. Using the combat experiences a new combat ready organisation was created, which laid down the basics of todays combat search and rescue. The article after a short historical review describes the evolution of combat search and rescue during the Vietnam war, including organizational changes, technological development, new technics and tactics
