The Role of Tree Clinics in Urban Forestry
A tree clinic analyzes tree problems and recommends appropriate actions to the public. The objective of tree clinics is to inform the citizen about urban trees. This paper is based on the experiences of 30 tree clinics held in Ann Arbor during the last eight years. The ingredients necessary for a successful tree clinic are discussed: (I) active sponsor, (2) suitable date and time, (3) good location, (4) proper publicity, (5) diversified experts, (6) proper organization, (7) sizable public turnout, and (8) follow-up publicity and acknowledgments

The need to exchange information on research in reindeer and
caribou diseases became apparent to investigators attending the Second
International Reindeer/Caribou Symposium in Roros, Norway, in 1979.
Initially, bibliographies were to be exchanged by being submitted to and
subsequently distributed by workers at the University of Alaska. When
the bibliographies were submitted, it seemed sensible to computerize the
lists to facilitate searches for specific information in the future. An
apparently simple task became amazingly complex. This is the resultant collection of publications by
reindeer/caribou disease researchers. Because researchers in wildlife
diseases tend to work on more than one species or topic, out of interest
or necessity, a decision was made to include all of a person's
references rather than to limit them to strictly reindeer/caribou
diseases.
The authors hope this will provide a good basis for exchange of
information among all those interested in reindeer/caribou diseases
Trauma-informed school programming: Applications for Mental Health professionals and Educator partnerships
An alarming number of children experience significant trauma or chronic stress throughout childhood, manifesting in cognitive, social, physical, and emotional impairment. These challenges are expressed in the P-12 academic setting through difficulties with behavioral and emotional self-regulation, academic functioning, and physical ailments and illness. Advances in trauma-informed care, as applied to the school environment, have inspired new hope for educators who observe first-hand the learning challenges facing traumatized children. This article defines the nature of the problem along with a guiding framework to assist educators and mental health professionals in transforming to a trauma-informed school culture
Maximizing Academic Success for Foster Care Students: A Trauma-Informed Approach
Children in foster care have experienced significant trauma due to the loss of primary attachment figures and the circumstances associated with that loss. Children who have suffered trauma generally present with cognitive, social, physical, and emotional vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities are often expressed in the P–12 academic setting through difficulties with behavioral and emotional self-regulation, academic functioning, and physical ailments and illness related to chronic stress-induced compromised immune systems. This results in academic failure for half of all children in care. Training in how to respond to children who have suffered trauma is essential to ensure that children are comfortable and feel secure in the classroom so that they can access their education. To that end, a framework to support children in P–12 settings who are particularly vulnerable to academic failure due to trauma is presented
Generation rates and chemical compositions of waste streams in a typical crewed space habitat
A judicious compilation of generation rates and chemical compositions of potential waste feed streams in a typical crewed space habitat was made in connection with the waste-management aspect of NASA's Physical/Chemical Closed-Loop Life Support Program. Waste composition definitions are needed for the design of waste-processing technologies involved in closing major life support functions in future long-duration human space missions. Tables of data for the constituents and chemical formulas of the following waste streams are presented and discussed: human urine, feces, hygiene (laundry and shower) water, cleansing agents, trash, humidity condensate, dried sweat, and trace contaminants. Tables of data on dust generation and pH values of the different waste streams are also presented and discussed
Velocity dispersions in galaxies: 1: The SO galaxy NGC 7332
A Coude spectrum of the SO galaxy NGC 7332 with 0.9 A resolution from 4186 to 4364 A was obtained with the SEC vidicon television camera and the Hale telescope. Comparisons with spectra of G and K giant stars, numerically broadened for various Maxwellian velocity distributions, give a dispersion velocity in the line of sight of 160 + or - 20 km/sec with the best fit at G8III. The dispersion appears to be constant within + or - 35 km/sec out to 1.4 kpc (H = 100 km/sec/mpc). After correction for projection, the rotation curve has a slope of 0.16 km/sec/pc at the center and a velocity of 130 km/sec at 1.4 kpc where it is still increasing. For an estimated effective radius of 3.5 kpc enclosing half the light, the virial theorem gives a mass of 1.4 x 10 to the 11th power solar masses if the mass-to-light ratio is constant throughout the galaxy. The photographic luminosity is 8.3 x 10 to the 9th power solar luminosities so that the M/L ratio is 17
