    Development Of Residential Energy Harvesting System With Arduino Application

    The common electricity source is currently being generated through solar panel, wind turbine and hydroelectric. However, these methods require high cost and large space for the system operation. This paper proposed a Pico hydro free charging system from high pressure water of the home piping system stored to power bank for home lighting application. The usage of small-scale turbine in the system generated electricity to continuous charging the power bank. The power bank then acted as a free power source used to light up a 5V LED bulb as a free lighting source. The additional usage of Arduino helped to provide the information display on the generated current, voltage and the water flow rate. The piping size and length were evaluated and it was found that they significantly affected the voltage performance with the help of Arduino application for monitoring purpose. The uniqueness of this project is that it can be operated with a minimum water pressure of 15 Psi to generate renewable energy storage from incoming housing piping system

    An Integrated Cooling Tunnel For Preventing The Breakage Of Chocolate Snack Bars

    Cerealmond Confectionery SdnBhd is a manufacturer of chocolate bars in Malaysia. The manufacturer experienced significant yield loss and decreased productivity because of chocolate bars breaking on their manufacturing line. The current industry practice entails a high level of human interaction, which contributes to the occurrence of broken chocolate bars. The project's objective is to eliminate the problem of broken chocolate bars and to increase manufacturer productivity. The analysis determined that the primary issue occurred at the rotating plate, where a thermal imaging camera recorded a temperature of 28.7°C in the rotating plate area, preventing the ingredients from cooling sufficiently to harden. The solution is to maintain a low temperature in the rotating table area, which will quickly harden the chocolate bars and resolve the broken chocolate bar issue. A food-grade cooling tunnel with an acrylic container was designed for the rotating table area, resulting in a temperature of 14.7°C. As a result of the problem being resolved, the process flow was improved, resulting in a threefold increase in UPH

    Shear Tensile And Flexural Performance Of Sandwich Composite With Hexagonal Cell Wood Core Variation

    Current industry demands product with better sustainability and efficiency in terms of weight. This particular demand can be met with introduction of lightweight materials with renewable sources. This article presents a study of sandwich composite with different honeycomb wood core variants and suggests a direction for future development. Six types of sandwich composites, made with rubber wood (RW), pine wood (PW), balsa wood (BW), honeycomb rubber wood (HRW), honeycomb pine wood (HPW), and honeycomb balsa wood (HBW) implemented with hexagonal cells together with glass fibre reinforced polymer skins are studied. Shear tensile and flexural performance of sandwich composites are tested according to ASTM standards. The results reveal that HRW core sandwich composite exhibits good flexural strength amongst the sandwich composite tested while having a proper weight reduction of about 513.92 kg/m3 compared to solid wood cores. It was also found that, the implementation of hexagonal cells in the wood cores increases the shear tensile performance of the sandwich composites.     After four years the Faculty of Engineering Technology was opened,the equipment/computer have installed for doing the experiment in laboratories beginning faulty.The technician was informed by the vendors that the equipment/computer was break down due to power supply. The vendor told that it was not occurring at any places that they have installed and suspected the power supply from the main supply was having a problem.General observation showed that the PC (Personal Computer) commissioning and installation is following the standard procedure.The location of the PC,the humidity and temperature all are within the standard operating condition.The power supply from the main distribution board is protected via a standard circuit breaker and additionally protected via Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR).Nevertheless,having these protections does not mean that the power supply is safe to be used with any equipment.According to the yearly equipment maintenance report of the faculty,the breakdown of the PC usually on the power supply block of the PC.This symptom can only mean either incoming power supply is giving unsafe power or power supply block’s is not reliable.In this project, the electrical parameters of the incoming power supply will be monitored using the PM1000F with Flicker & Harmonic Distortion measurement meter.Important parameters that are expected to be extracted from this monitoring process are current,voltage,frequency and total harmonic distortion.A backup monitoring equipment will be set up as well as nearby laboratory for references and comparison analysis.Initial monitoring that was done recently showed that during early morning the voltage has dropped about 10%.Even though it is normal,the occurrence of the event may increase the stress to the power supply block.The result or data will be analysed to find out the real problems with the equipment as mentioned by the technician and the vendor
