We are coping more and more with the project and project management in day by day life. Even if some activities are the similarly with common organization actions, the life cycle project activities request more information and more actions. So it is necessary to have some tools, methods and rules to manage a large amount of information which must be disseminated to numerous stakeholders. This need could be solved by project management information systems (PMIS). PMIS is a complex one, with various components which are depending on type of project, type of organization etc. The latest evolution of information and communication technology was favorable to our research field. Therefore, there are different tools to support the structure, automation and efficiency of PMIS. Moreover from several years it is spread the following notions: web-based project management, project management office, enterprise project management. So, we can see the fast evolution of this field. But, our paper will bring general ideas relating to project management information systems, like definition of PMIS, the project life cycle and the information needed of each stage, various tools to support the PMIS procedures. The characteristics, tools, trends will be our future research.project management, project management life cycle, project management information system, project management software

An Analysis of the Most Used Machine Learning Algorithms for Online Fraud Detection

Today illegal activities regarding online financial transactions have become increasingly complex and borderless, resulting in huge financial losses for both sides, customers and organizations. Many techniques have been proposed to fraud prevention and detection in the online environment. However, all of these techniques besides having the same goal of identifying and combating fraudulent online transactions, they come with their own characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. In this context, this paper reviews the existing research done in fraud detection with the aim of identifying algorithms used and analyze each of these algorithms based on certain criteria. To analyze the research studies in the field of fraud detection, the systematic quantitative literature review methodology was applied. Based on the most called machine-learning algorithms in scientific articles and their characteristics, a hierarchical typology is made. Therefore, our paper highlights, in a new way, the most suitable techniques for detecting fraud by combining three selection criteria: accuracy, coverage and costs

The purpose of this paper is intent on identify and analyze the unseen factors of successful or failure of e-business project development. The IT managers must take into account both all costs involved in e-business development and all phases (analysis, design, testing, implementation, maintenance and operation) according to principle of project management for software/systems life cycle development. There are many solutions to exceed these factors of failure among could be counted outsourcing, a good project management, involvement of senior management, a real cost estimation etc.Zadanie pt. „Digitalizacja i udostępnienie w Cyfrowym Repozytorium Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego kolekcji czasopism naukowych wydawanych przez Uniwersytet Łódzki” nr 885/P-DUN/2014 zostało dofinansowane ze środków MNiSW w ramach działalności upowszechniającej nauk

Offshore software development (OSD) is an important trend in information technology outsourcing field. Within this trend software development is increasingly going global, with development occurring in multiple sites located in different geographic regions. On the other hand, software development is a collaborative endeavor, in which communication and cooperation play an important role. Effective communication and coordination from multiple sites is extremely important for OSD. Some studies reveal that cross-site communication and coordination issues can cause a substantial loss of development speed. This paper examines and analysis the issues of cross-site communication and cooperation in OSD, and how can these issues be addressed. There are various approaches to manage communication and coordination from distance. These include the introduction of communication technologies, explicit control mechanisms, and models for reducing the need for cross-site coordination.IT offshore outsourcing, software development, collaboration, virtual environment, CMMI, distributed team

The new trend of globalization constrains companies worldwide to go outside of national frontiers to look for the specialized firms for different business areas in their needs for best equilibrium between high quality of services and cost-effective solutions. This trend emerges also in IT industry. In this context, could be seen the trend of IT outsourcing market development, in particular oriented to the developing countries, such as those from Asia and Eastern Europe. The pressure to cut costs forces IT companies to search for cost effective solutions for software development projects, so the price for software product could be dropped, and the company could get a better position on the market. One of attractive destination for IT companies is Romania, due to the great number of well-educated and highly skilled IT workers who have better understanding of Western European and American culture. In this papers, we discuss the perspective of IT outsourcing market in Romania. We focuses on the advantages of Romania as IT outsourcing market in globalization context.IT outsourcing, types of outsourcing, offshoring, outsourcing market

A Few Insights Into Romanian Information Systems Analysts and Designers Toolbox

Information Systems (IS) analysts and designers have been key members in software development teams. From waterfall to Rational Unified Process, from UML to agile development, IS modelers have faced many trends and buzzwords. Even if the topic of models and modeling tools in software development is important, there are no many detailed studies to identify for what the developers, customers and managers decide to use the modeling and specific tools. Despite the popularity of the subject, studies showing what tools the IS modelers prefer are scarce, and quasi-non-existent, when talking about Romanian market. As Romania is an important IT outsourcing market, this paper investigated what methods and tools Romanian IS analysts and designers apply. In this context, the starting question of our research focuses on the preference of the developers to choose between agile or non-agile methods in IT projects. As a result, the research questions targeted the main drivers in choosing specific methods and tools for IT projects deployed in Romanian companies. Also, one of the main objectives of this paper was to approach the relationship between the methodologies (agile or non-agile), diagrams and other tools (we refer in our study to the CASE features) with other variables/metrics of the system/software development project. The observational study was conducted based on a survey filled by IS modelers in Romanian IT companies. The data collected were processed and analyzed using Exploratory Data Analysis. The platform for data visualization and analysis was R
