    Content-analysis confounding factors in sport activities of powerlifters

    In this research the profound analysis of the distress factors in sports activity of powerlifters is submitted. In the course of the training and competitions the athlete is influenced by the circumstances interfering optimum sports activity. For carrying out the qualitative analysis of the distress factors for powerlifters we have studied statements comments of athletes and empirical results of our previous researches on definition of priority positions of the distress factors in training and competitive activities are used. As methods for this work the analysis of scientific literature on a research problem, observation, poll, the content analysis are used. Taking into account the results of a research received earlier oral and written poll of the leading Russian athletes-powerlifters is organized (n = 31; men of n = 14, women of n = 17). The content analysis of the distress factors is submitted taking into account gender differentiation as results of the analysis of men's and female questionnaires have shown distinctions in assessment of the distress factors. As respondents winners of the World games, world champions and Europe, champions of the international and national competitions, owners of sports ranks "Honored Master of Sports of Russia", "Master of Sports of Russia of the International Class" and "Master of Sports of Russia" have acted. Experience of the athletes having high sporting achievements on the Russian and international scaffold bears in itself important information for athletes, their trainers, organizers of sports competitions, the International federation of powerlifting. The received results submit the developed characteristic of the priority distress factors in training process and at competitions. The prospect of researches seems authors in development of recommendations for trainers on psychological training of athletes-powerlifters. Similar need is staticized by the need for psychological support of the athlete who not always has a possibility of the address to the expert

    Psychological Ways of Coping with Difficult Life Situations of Men of All Ages

    The article deals with overcoming difficult life situations of different aged men suffering from a loss of health. The term "a difficult life situation" is regarded from the position of search of adaptation criteria for such kind of a situation. The theoretical analysis of literature exposes that a difficult life situation embraces a broad sphere of situations which are considered to be difficult and a methodic complex of instruments is scientifically working out. Great attention is paid to the loss of health, which brings the threat for life and requires the reinforcement of adaptation possibilities and internal extra recourses. The analysis of literature showed that there are different ways of human adaptation to the adverse events requiring not only man's courage, inner strength and understanding but also the avoidance of unpleasant situations, removal from them. These ways include psycological defence mechanisms, coping strategies, pseudocompensations. According to the emperical research the authors have found that men's indicators referring to the increase of meaningfulness of life and adaptation to it are psycological defence mechanisms, coping strategies. It was also detected destructive indicators coupled with decrease of meaningfulness of life. They were pseudocompensations which are a false way of adapting to difficult situations.©IDOSI Publications, 2013

    Sporting activities are characterized by high physical and psycho-emotional stress. Modern trends in powerlifting are aimed at improving the technical and psychological training, improving physical form improving competition rules. The results of our research work describe the factors that cause of disorganization of powerlifters. 160 athletes going in for in powerlifting take part in the questionnaire to solve the problem. The sample included 80 women and 80 men, aged 16 to 49 years.     Competitive activity is accompanied by a number of factors that prevent athletes' high performance. Like all other athletes, powerlifters find solutions to fight interference emerging at the competitions. The study aims to explore possible ways to overcome the confounding factors in powerlifting. Respondents to the questionnaire were 160 lifters (80 men and 80 women) aged from 16 to 49, with sport experience from 1 year to 34 years and sports qualifications from third junior rank to the Master of Sports, some having the title of "Master of Sports of Russia of International Class". The study builds a hierarchy of ways to overcome the confounding factors according to the degree of their significance. The first five options were analyzed being most important in the athletes' viewpoint

    Ways to overcome confounding factors in powerlifters' training workouts

    Training activities in powerlifting involve a variety of circumstances that constrain their optimal procedure. Exploring ways to overcome the confounding factors reveals possible ways to solve the problem. The study comprises observation and interviewing 80 men and 80 women involved in powerlifting. The analysis of the questionnaires shows that the top position is occupied by the method "coach's assistance". Following it in the hierarchy arranged according to the order of significance for athletes-powerlifters are: 2nd - mental attitude, 3d - selection of partners for training, 4th - instructional techniques, 5th - changing the training methods, 6th - medication, 7th - social isolation, 8th - selective communication, 9th - home-like behavior. The study is a discussion of the top five ways to overcome the confounding factors in the conditions of training activities that are most important from the standpoint of powerlifters

    Powerlifters' sporting activities involve a variety of circumstances preventing them from optimal physical performance. The study of confounding factors, taking into account gender-based approach, allows determining the highest priority position of these barriers for both sexes. In the course of our study we surveyed 160 athletes - powerlifters (80 men and 80 women) from Russia at the age of 16 to 49 possessing various sports skills. This paper analyzes the first three factors that are most significant for men and women in the course of training and competitive activities. The results of the study do not reveal fundamental difference in defining significant confounding factors by male and female powerlifters

    Individual psychological singularities of persons with disabling diseases

    This article deals with the study of individual psychological features of men and women in the difficult circumstances of disability. The individual psychological characteristics are understood as the parameters of the meaningfulness of life, pseudocompensations, and personal properties. This study has managed to detect the gender dependence of the studied parameters' relationships. The observed specificity of the relationships' structural organization is the criterion of adaptation to the difficult circumstances. The differences between men and women were identified in quantitative values, which are the markers of adaptation of disabled persons to difficult circumstances. These features must be taken into account by the service of medical and social examination, by rehabilitation specialists at developing individual rehabilitation programs for disabled people
