Stabilization of Cr(III) wastes by C3S and C3S hydrated matrix : comparison of two incorporation methods

    Get PDF
In the present study, the influence of Cr(III) on the properties of C3S and its stabilization in C3S hydrates was investigated by either direct incorporation as Cr2O3 during C3S preparation or introduced as nitrate salt during hydration. Levels of Cr used were from 0.1 to 3.0 wt% of C3S. The effect of Cr on the polymorph and hydration of C3S and its immobilization in the hydrates was detected by means of DTA/TG, XRD, isothermal calorimeter and ICP-AES, etc. When doped during sintering process, Cr caused a C3S polymorph transformation from T1 to T2 and led a decomposition of C3S into C2S and CaO resulting in high f-CaO content. Cr doping showed an obvious promotion effect on the hydration properties. The promotion effect decreased when the Cr addition increased to 3.0 wt%. When Cr was added as nitrate salt, Cr showed a retardation effect on the hydration of C3S due to the formation of Ca2Cr(OH)7 center dot 3H(2)O, which resulted in a high degree of Cr stabilization

The Tentative Idea of Energy Recovery Based on ā€œ3Rā€ Principle

    Get PDF
AbstractStarting from the current situation of the energy crisis, this paper analyzes the pros and cons of two ways to solve energy issues, and indicates that energy conservation plays an important sole in solving energy problems. Around the ā€œ3Rā€ principles in Green design, this paper discusses the ā€œ3Rā€ thought of energy recovery. Finally, through the tentative plan of one practical case, it demonstrates the great application prospect of the ā€œ3Rā€ idea in the energy recovery

Fixed points for weakly inward mappings in Banach spaces

AbstractS. Hu and Y. Sun [S. Hu, Y. Sun, Fixed point index for weakly inward mappings, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 172 (1993) 266ā€“273] defined the fixed point index for weakly inward mappings, investigated its properties and studied the fixed points for such mappings. In this paper, following S. Hu and Y. Sun, we continue to investigate boundary conditions, under which the fixed point index for the completely continuous and weakly inward mapping, denoted by i(A,Ī©,P), is equal to 1 or 0. Correspondingly, we can obtain some new fixed point theorems of the completely continuous and weakly inward mappings and existence theorems of solutions for the equations Ax=Ī¼x, which extend many famous theorems such as Lerayā€“Schauder's theorem, Rothe's two theorems, Krasnoselskii's theorem, Altman's theorem, Petryshyn's theorem, etc., to the case of weakly inward mappings. In addition, our conclusions and methods are different from the ones in many recent works

Improved 11Ī±-hydroxycanrenone production by modification of cytochrome P450 monooxygenase gene in Aspergillus ochraceus

Eplerenone is a drug that protects the cardiovascular system. 11Ī±-Hydroxycanrenone is a key intermediate in eplerenone synthesis. We found that although the cytochrome P450 (CYP) enzyme system in Aspergillus ochraceus strain MF018 could catalyse the conversion of canrenone to 11Ī±-hydroxycanrenone, its biocatalytic efficiency is low. To improve the efficiency of 11Ī±-hydroxycanrenone production, the CYP monooxygenase-coding gene of MF018 was predicted and cloned based on whole-genome sequencing results. A recombinant A. ochraceus strain MF010 with the high expression of CYP monooxygenase was then obtained through homologous recombination. The biocatalytic rate of this recombinant strain reached 93 % at 60 h without the addition of organic solvents or surfactants and was 17ā€“18 % higher than that of the MF018 strain. Moreover, the biocatalytic time of the MF010 strain was reduced by more than 30 h compared with that of the MF018 strain. These results show that the recombinant A. ochraceus strain MF010 can overcome the limitation of substrate biocatalytic efficiency and thus holds a high potential for application in the industrial production of eplerenone

Properties and Mechanisms of Self-Sensing Carbon Nanofibers/Epoxy Composites for Structural Health Monitoring

    Get PDF
In this paper, carbon nanofibers (CNFs) with high aspect ratio were dispersed into epoxy matrix via mechanical stirring and ultrasonic treatment to fabricate self-sensing CNFs/epoxy composites. The mechanical, electrical and piezoresistive properties of the nanocomposites filled with different contents of CNFs were investigated. Based on the tunneling conduction and percolation conduction theories, the mechanisms of piezoresistive property of the nanocomposites were also explored. The experimental results show that adding CNFs can effectively enhance the compressive strengths and elastic moduli of the composites. The percolation threshold of the CNFs/epoxy composites is 0.186ā€Ævol% according to the modified General Effective Media Equation. Moreover, the stable and sensitive piezoresistive response of CNFs/epoxy composites was observed under monotonic and cyclic loadings. It can be demonstrated that adding CNFs into epoxy-based composites provides an innovative means of self-sensing, and the high sensitivity and stable piezoresistivity endow the CNFs/epoxy composites with considerable potentials as efficient compressive strain sensors for structural health monitoring of civil infrastructures

Investigation of lipid metabolism dysregulation and the effects on immune microenvironments in pan-cancer using multiple omics data.

    Get PDF
BACKGROUND: Lipid metabolism reprogramming is a hallmark for tumor which contributes to tumorigenesis and progression, but the commonality and difference of lipid metabolism among pan-cancer is not fully investigated. Increasing evidences suggest that the alterations in tumor metabolism, including metabolite abundance and accumulation of metabolic products, lead to local immunosuppression in the tumor microenvironment. An integrated analysis of lipid metabolism in cancers from different tissues using multiple omics data may provide novel insight into the understanding of tumorigenesis and progression. RESULTS: Through systematic analysis of the multiple omics data from TCGA, we found that the most-widely altered lipid metabolism pathways in pan-cancer are fatty acid metabolism, arachidonic acid metabolism, cholesterol metabolism and PPAR signaling. Gene expression profiles of fatty acid metabolism show commonalities across pan-cancer, while the alteration in cholesterol metabolism and arachidonic acid metabolism differ with tissue origin, suggesting tissue specific lipid metabolism features in different tumor types. An integrated analysis of gene expression, DNA methylation and mutations revealed factors that regulate gene expression, including the differentially methylated sites and mutations of the lipid genes, as well as mutation and differential expression of the up-stream transcription factors for the lipid metabolism pathways. Correlation analysis of the proportion of immune cells in the tumor microenvironment and the expression of lipid metabolism genes revealed immune-related differentially expressed lipid metabolic genes, indicating the potential crosstalk between lipid metabolism and immune response. Genes related to lipid metabolism and immune response that are associated with poor prognosis were discovered including HMGCS2, GPX2 and CD36, which may provide clues for tumor biomarkers or therapeutic targets. CONCLUSIONS: Our study provides an integrated analysis of lipid metabolism in pan-cancer, highlights the perturbation of key metabolism processes in tumorigenesis and clarificates the regulation mechanism of abnormal lipid metabolism and effects of lipid metabolism on tumor immune microenvironment. This study also provides new clues for biomarkers or therapeutic targets of lipid metabolism in tumors
