QCD corrections to the t-->H+b decay within the minimal supersymmetric standard model
I present the contribution of gluinos and scalar quarks to the decay rate of
the top quark into a charged Higgs boson and a bottom quark within the minimal
supersymmetric standard model, including the mixing of the scalar partners of
the left- and right-handed top quark. I show that for certain values of the
supersymmetric parameters the standard QCD loop corrections to this decay mode
are diminished or enhanced by several 10 per cent. I show that not only a small
value of 3 GeV for the gluino mass (small mass window) but also much larger
values of several hundreds of GeV's have a non-neglible effect on this decay
rate, against general belief. Last but not least, if the ratio of the vacuum
expectation values of the Higgs bosons are taken in the limit of I
obtain a drastic enhancement due to a \ dependence in the couplings.Comment: UQAM-PHE-94/01, 6 pages, plain tex, 4 figures not included, available

Influence of irrigation on land hydrological processes over California
In this study, a regional climate model (RCM) is employed to investigate the effect of irrigation on hydrology over California through implementing a “realistic irrigation” scheme. Our results indicate that the RCM with a realistic irrigation scheme commonly practiced in California can capture the soil moisture and evapotranspiration (ET) variation very well in comparison with the available in situ and remote sensing data. The RCM results show significant improvement in comparison with those outputs from the default run and the commonly used runs with fixed soil moisture at field capacity. Furthermore, the model reproduces the observed decreasing trends of the reference ET (i.e., ET0) from the California Irrigation Management Information System (CIMIS). The observed decreasing trend is most likely due to the decreasing trend of downward solar radiation shown by models and CIMIS observations. This issue is fundamental in projecting future irrigation water demand. The deep soil percolation rate changes depending on the irrigation method and irrigation duration. Finally, the model results show that precipitation change due to irrigation in California is relatively small in amount and mainly occurs along the midlatitudes in the western United States
Exact and Asymptotic Conditions on Traveling Wave Solutions of the Navier-Stokes Equations
We derive necessary conditions that traveling wave solutions of the
Navier-Stokes equations must satisfy in the pipe, Couette, and channel flow
geometries. Some conditions are exact and must hold for any traveling wave
solution irrespective of the Reynolds number (). Other conditions are
asymptotic in the limit . The exact conditions are likely to be
useful tools in the study of transitional structures. For the pipe flow
geometry, we give computations up to showing the connection of our
asymptotic conditions to critical layers that accompany vortex structures at
high
Pumping Current in a Quantum Dot by an Oscillating Magnetic Field
We investigate spin and charge current through a quantum dot pumped by a
time-varying magnetic field. Using the density matrix method, quantum rate
equations for the electronic occupation numbers in the quantum dot are obtained
and solved in the stationary state limit for a wide set of setup parameters.
Both charge and spin current are expressed explicitly in terms of several
relevant parameters and analyzed in detail. The results suggest a way of
optimizing experimental setup parameters to obtain an maximal spin current
without the charge current flow.Comment: to appear in the proceedings of the international conference on

Effective chiral theory of mesons is applied to study the four decay modes of
. Theoretical values of the branching ratios are in
agreement with the data. The theory predicts that the resonance plays a
dominant role in these decays. There is no new parameter in this study.Comment: 12 pages and one figur
