Reactions of County Officials to Funding Cuts
Despite funding cutbacks for many programs since 1980, county officials in the State of Washington feel that the most important services have not been seriously harmed. Most county officials see State and Federal requirements as pre-empting local decisions about budget allocations. More than half of the county officials think that their adjustments to reduced funding actually increased the quality and efficiency of county services.
