Comment on "Effects of cosmic-string framework on the thermodynamical properties of anharmonic oscillator using the ordinary statistics and the q-deformed superstatistics approaches"

We point out a misleading treatment in a recent paper published in this Journal [Eur. Phys. J. C (2018)78:106] regarding solutions for the Schr\"{o}dinger equation with a anharmonic oscillator potential embedded in the background of a cosmic string mapped into biconfluent Heun equation. This fact jeopardizes the thermodynamical properties calculated in this system.Comment: 3 page

Sol-gel TiO2-SiO2 films as protective coatings against corrosion of 316L stainless steel in H2SO4 solutions

Sol-gel TiO2-SiO2 films were deposited on 316L stainless steel by dip coating process from a sono-catalysed sol of composition 30TiO2-70SiO2 prepared from a mixture of Ti(OC2H5)4 and Si(OC2H5)4, absolute ethanol C2H5OH and glacial acetic acid CH3COOH as precursors and solvents. The films, densified at 800° C in air for 2 h, are composed of small orthorhombic titania (anatase) crystallites embedded in a SiO2 amorphous matrix as identified by X-ray diffraction. The temperature dependence of the film morphology was observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the content was determined by FTIR reflection spectroscopy. The corrosion behaviour of 316L stainless steel samples coated with densified 30TiO2-70SiO2 films was studied in 15% H2SO4 by potentiodynamic polarization curves at 25, 40 and 50°C. The measured corrosion rates show a considerable decrease for the protected steel samples in comparison to the bare substrate. The effect of time of heat treatment of the films on the corrosion parameters is also reported

Sol-gel deposition of ZrO2 films in air and in oxygen-free atmospheres for chemical protection of 304 stainless steel : a comparative corrosion study

ZrO2 coatings for corrosion protection were deposited on 304 stainless steel by sol-gel method using zirconium propoxide as precursor and densified in air and in oxygen-free (argon or nitrogen) atmospheres. XRD and IR data of the films were practically independent of the atmosphere used in the densification step showing that the ceramic oxide is properly formed from the precursor. The corrosion behavior of the stainless steel substrate was studied by potentiodynamic polarization curves in the absence and the presence of ZrO2 coatings prepared in air, argon or nitrogen. The coatings extended the lifetime of the material by a factor of almost eight in a very aggressive environment, independently of the preparation procedure. The possibility of depositing pure or mixed oxide films by sol-gel methods in the absence of additional oxygen will allow the preparation of specific coatings onto oxygen-reactive substrates

Strongly correlated fermions with nonlinear energy dispersion and spontaneous generation of anisotropic phases

Using the bosonization approach we study fermionic systems with a nonlinear dispersion relation in dimension d>2. We explicitly show how the band curvature gives rise to interaction terms in the bosonic version of the model. Although these terms are perturbatively irrelevant in relation to the Landau Fermi liquid fixed point, they become relevant perturbations when instabilities take place. Using a coherent state path integral technique we built up the effective action that governs the dynamics of the Fermi surface fluctuations. We consider the combined effect of fermionic interactions and band curvature on possible anisotropic phases triggered by negative Landau parameters. In particular we study in some detail the phase diagram for the isotropic/nematic/hexatic quantum phase transition.Comment: RevTeX4, 9 pages, 2 eps figures, Final version as appeared in Phys.Rev.

Sol-gel coatings for chemical protection of stainless steel

    Get PDF
Sol-gel thin coatings of ZrO2, SiO2, 70SiO2-30TiO2 and 88SiO2-12Al2O3 compositions (mole %) have been prepared from sonocatalyzed sols and deposited by dip-coating technique on 316L stainless steel foils. The influence of the coatings on the chemical corrosion of the substrate has been measured through potentiodynamic polarization curves in aqueous 15% H2SO4 solution between 25 and 50°C. The values of the corrosion potential, polarization resistance and corrosion rate have been determined. Analysis of the data combined with scanning electron microscopy studies indicate that the films act as a geometric blocking against exposure to the corrosive media and increase the lifetime of the substrate up to a factor 8.5
