COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE OWN EXPERIMENTAL TECHNIQUES OF PRODUCING THE FOAMED GLASS-CERAMIC

The paper presents experimental results obtained by a team of researchers from the company Daily Sourcing & Research SRL Bucharest in the field of producing the foamed glass-ceramic from waste bottle glass, coal ash and silicon carbide as foaming agent. The originality of the experiments consists in the use of electricity or microwave energy, unlike all techniques known worldwide consumers of fossil fuel. The product, obtained with low energy consumptions and very low pollutants emissions, has physical and mechanical characteristics of an insulating material, i.e. high porosity, low thermal conductivity and an adequate compressive strength

Aspects Regarding the Tracking of the Behavior in Time of Vâlsan Dam, Arges County, Romania

This paper aims to highlight the behavior in time monitoring of a hydrotechnical construction by establishing the displacements compared to the base tranche and the previous tranche, processing these measurements and establishing conclusions on the behavior of the analyzed construction. The main purpose of this paper is to study if there are any displacements of the studied hydrotechnical construction between different measurements tranches. Field measurements were performed between September - December 2016, after which the data was processed at the office with specially developed programs for this purpose. For the micro-triangulation stage, respectively for measuring the directions and distances, were used Leica TS02 Plus R500 total stations. The measurement accuracy of this total station is 1” for directional determination and 1.5mm + 2ppm for distances. Tracking the behavior in time of hydrotechnical constructions are of great importance, because it can prevent many calamities like breaking the dam, floods etc

Manufacturing the Rye Starch-Based Bioplastics Using Glycerine as a Plasticizer

Bioplastic film based on rye starch and glycerine was experimentally produced. The starch extraction from rye grains was made after very fine grinding of rye grains together with distilled water, the powder filtration through cotton cloth, decanting, and slow drying at 60ºC. Different starch/glycerine weight ratios in the range of 2.5-3.7 constituted three versions of the mixture subjected to the stirring process and heated to 60ºC. The slurry-mixture was poured into a metal die and pressed forming 1-1.5 mm-sheet. After completing the drying, removal from the die, and keeping at room temperature for 2 days, the bioplastic was characterized. The results (density of 1.7 g·cm-3, tensile strength of 2.8 MPa, elongation at break of 6.3%, water contact angle of 53.4º) corresponding to the optimal version of the starch/glycerine ratio of 3.7, were almost similar to those obtained in making the bioplastic based on sweet potato starch.</p&gt

Cellular Glass as Insulation Material in Construction Under Conditions of Mechanical Stress

    No full text

Cellular glass with excellent thermal insulation properties (low density of 0.26 g·cm-3, very low heat conductivity of 0.064 W·m-1·K-1, and high porosity of 87.6%), and in the same time, relatively high compressive strength of 6.0 MPa was prepared. The mixture was composed of finely ground solid materials (glass waste, borax, and Na2CO3) and liquids (Na2SiO3 solution and water addition), separately processed and then mixed together. The obtained dense paste was poured into a mold, pressed, removed from the mold, to be freely loaded into the microwave oven. Sintered at 825ºC, the expanded material resulted as a cellular product adequate for using as insulation material in construction under the conditions of mechanical stress.</p&gt
