Modelling of Heat Loss in Closed Vessels during propellant Burning

    Get PDF
Closed vessel technique is essentially used to determine the force constant, vivacity and the burning rate of gun propellants. In fact, it is the only method to find out these three parameters experimentally. It is a well-known fact that however small the propellant burning time may be, there will be heat loss to the walls of the vessel due to conduction, convection, radiation and also due to the expansion of the vessel. This fact necessitates applying correction to the observed maximum pressure in the experiment. An analysis is presented in this paper as to how this heat loss can be modelled along with discussion about other models reported in this field

NOTE TO COIN EXCHANGER USING IMAGE PROCESSING

Now days, we have to suffer a lot for the change in various public places in daily life. The need of change has been increased. Rather coins are used more instead of note in various places like bus station, railway station, malls, parks, even in rural areas where nowadays also coin telephone system is used. For these many application places coins are used extremely, so we thought to develop an exchanger machine which will give us coins instead of notes. As there are lots of techniques to detect the Indian currency note, these are texture based, pattern based, checking by the watermarking, checking the micro lettering, color based recognition technique . The most preferable technique along all these is color based recognition . It is constructed by counting the number of pixels of each color. For detecting kind of note the mat lab algorithm runs and the result is given to the controller which will manipulate the coin container through relays and motors, the user simply press the keypad for which type of change he wants whether one rupee coins or five rupee or mixed and hence in the output we get coins as user requiremen

Osseous expansion of any body part is an unwelcome guest and deep are its impacts when it is located on the face. The bigger the lesion, the more bitter is the psychosocial trauma to the affected individual. This article describes the case of a 50 year old female who presented with painless swelling of the right submandibular region manifesting as a dreadful cosmetic disfigurement. The mass had been progressing slowly for the last 15 years. Imaging showed a giant peripheral osteoma of 10.8 cm involving buccal and lingual surface of the body, ramus, angle and inferior border of the right side of mandible. To the best of our knowledge, a giant peripheral osteoma of mandible having size more than 10 cm has never been reported earlier.KEYWORDS: Giant peripheral osteoma; Swelling of mandible; CT scan, Panoramic viewInternet Journal of Medical Update 2012 January;7(1):66-6

AUTOMATIC PENALTY CHARGING FOR TRAFFIC REGULATION

    Get PDF
The research, "Automatic Penalty Charging for Traffic Regulation", is an attempt to design a system which will automatically incur penalty to the car driver and owner for violation of traffic rules. There are 3 units to be designed. One will be a standalone system attached to the ignition mechanism of the car, the other will be a standalone system which will be attached to the traffic signal points and the third will be mainframe RTO unit. For car ignition the driver has to place his RFID driving license card near to the reader. The design aims to reduce bribery, corruption, pollution, congestion in a city

Awareness and Perception of Plastic Surgery among Healthcare Professionals in Pune, India: Do They Really Know What We Do?

Purpose. The aim of this study is to understand the level of awareness and knowledge of plastic surgery in healthcare professionals in a tertiary health care facility in Pune, India. This study also aims to highlight the perception of the medical professionals about plastic surgery and what they think a plastic surgeon does. Materials and Methods. A questionnaire-based survey was done at B.J Medical College and Sassoon Hospital, Pune in 2011. Feedback evaluation forms from hundred resident doctors and faculty were evaluated and analyzed. Results. There is not much awareness about plastic surgery as a specialty amongst health care providers. Plastic surgery is mostly perceived as cosmetic surgery, and the other spectrum of the patients we cater to goes largely unnoticed. Of all the clinical conditions given to the participants, there was not a single clinical condition where the respondents favored unanimously for plastic surgeons. Conclusion. Plastic surgery as a specialty is poorly understood by our medical colleagues, and the onus of creating and improving the awareness and perception of our specialty lies on us. Herculean unified efforts at individual as well as global level will help us achieve this goal

Non-monotonic size dependence of the elastic modulus of nanocrystalline ZnO embedded in a nanocrystalline silver matrix

We present the first high pressure Raman study on nanocrystalline ZnO films with different average crystallite sizes. The problem of low Raman signals from nano sized particles was overcome by forming a nanocomposite of Ag and ZnO nanoparticles. The presence of the nanodispersed Ag particles leads to a substantial surface enhancement of the Raman signal from ZnO. We find that the elastic modulus of nanocrystalline ZnO shows a non-monotonic dependence on the crystallite size. We suggest that the non-monotonicity arises from an interplay between the elastic properties of the individual grains and the intergranular region.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figure

Study on awareness, perceptions, experiences in decision process of hysterectomy in women presenting to Goa Medical College

Background: Hysterectomy (removal of uterus) has many indications like fibroids, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, uterine prolapse and chronic pelvic pain. The purpose of this study is to know the level of awareness of women about hysterectomy, to study their experiences, to assess their involvement in decision making process and to develop a suitable protocol, counselling and education material to ensure women’s involvement. Methods: This is a cross sectional study using validated semi-structured interview questionnaire over 6 months (1st December, 2018 to 31st May, 2019) in Goa Medical College. Data was entered in epidata manager and analysed using SPSS 22 version. Categorical variables were expressed in percentages and proportions and quantitative variables in mean±SD. Significance was checked using Chi square test and association between dependent and independent variables was assessed by using bivariate analysis. P value <0.05 was taken as significant. Results: A total of 149 women were recruited into the study who were admitted for hysterectomy. The mean age of women was 49.3 years. The awareness with respect to various aspects of hysterectomy was good in 23.4% subjects and poor in 76.6% subjects. The awareness was significantly related to level of education (p=0.002), urban location (p=0.016) and socioeconomic status (p=0.028). Education was significant factor in decision-making process (p< 0.05). It was observed that good experience had positive correlation to their perception about hysterectomy. Conclusions: It was concluded that awareness about hysterectomy was significantly related to education, urban location and socio-economic status of women. Pre-operative education would help to reduce the post-operative symptoms for a women undergoing hysterectomy
