Mississippi River Research Conclusions Executive Summary
Briefing paper requested by Senator Bond detailing the conclusions from the Mississippi River research to date
Implications of Alternative Missouri River Flows for Power Plants
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the potential impacts of low Missouri River flows on the power plants operating along the Missouri River and using the Missouri River for cooling water
Briefing Paper on the “Worst Case” Implications of Low Missouri River Flows For Power Plants
In April 2004, FAPRI evaluated two water control plans considered by the Corps of
Engineers for the Missouri River in terms of their impact on power plants. The Corps
called these plans the Preferred Alternative and the GP2021 plan. The Preferred
Alternative plan was adopted by the Corps on March 19, 2004, as the new water control
plan. The GP2021 water control plan includes a spring Gavins Point release of 20,000
cubic feet per second above navigation requirements and a low summer release of 21,000 cubic feet per second
Implications of Minimum Summer Water Releases from Gavins Point for Power Plants
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the potential impacts on power plants of
minimum water releases from Gavins Point to the Missouri River as presented in the U.S.
Army Corp of Engineers' (Corps) Master Manual (Corps 2004). The Corps regulates the
flow of the Missouri River to support navigation and control flooding by controlling water releases from Gavins Point, the lowest of the six reservoirs
1993 Iowa Agricultural Disaster Preliminary Estimates
On July 27, 1993 a multidisciplinary committee was formed at Iowa State University to provide preliminary estimates for the economic effects of the 1993 floods on Iowa\u27s agricultural enterprises. This report summarizes the committee\u27s initial estimates of the losses by broad economic category; detailed income information was not available at the time the report was written. The report does not provide estimates of lost income due to agribusiness work stoppages nor direct losses of livestock, buildings, fences, and machinery
Economic Impacts of Not Extending Biofuels Subsidies
This study uses a stochastic model to analyze the impact of not extending the ethanol tax credit, the ethanol import tariff, or the $1.00 per gallon biodiesel tax credit on the biofuels and agricultural commodity markets
