Application of Natural Resources Indicators to Agricultural Land Management in Slovenia

    Get PDF
Th e group of indicators to establish the impact of land management measures on natural resources in the agricultural landscapes in Slovenia is discussed and identifi ed. Each chosen natural resource indicator is defi ned regarding indicator status, quality parameters of an indicator and indicator costs. The indicators are divided into two subgroups: abiotic indicators and biodiversity indicators, whereby biodiversity indicators are threatened on tree levels: genetic, species and ecosystem level. Th e result is the synthesis of natural resources indicators with the tabular review of their main characteristics, named indicators personal data. With selected indicator group the evaluation and monitoring of management measures regarding sustainability is possible. The weaknesses of some selected natural resources indicators are discussed and the fact that the indicators characteristics are not stable, but are time and space dependable is taken into consideration

Decision Making and the Brain: Neurologists' View

The article reflects the fact, that concepts like decision making and free will have entered the field of cognitive neuroscience towards the end of 20th century. It gives an overview of brain structures involved in decision making and the concept of free will; and presenting the results of clinical observations and new methods (functional neuroimaging, electrophysiology) it postulates possible mechanisms of these processes. We give a review of the neuroanatomy, specially discussing those parts of the brain important to the present topic, because the process of decision making is dependent on deep subcortical as well as superficial cortical structures. Dopamine has a central role in the in process of reward related behaviour and hedonism. A list of brain structures, related to dopamine action, is also given. The article especially concentrates on the Single Photon Emission Computer Tomography studies in patients with Parkinson's disease (neuroimaging), as well as to the studies concerning the Readiness Potential and Endogeneous Potential P300 (electrophysiology). In the end, we discuss the volition, whose functional anatomy overlaps with the functional anatomy of free will and decision making processes.cognitive neuroscience, brain, decision making, free will, electrophysiology, functional imaging, dopamine

AUTOMOBILE CLASSIFICATION USING TRANSFER LEARNING ON RESNET NEURAL NETWORK ARCHITECTURE

    Get PDF
Classification is one of the most common problems that neural networks are used for. In the case of higher resolution image classification, convolutional neural networks are commonly used. Due to the reason that convolutional neural networks are so often used in classification, there are many pretrained models that can be adapted for new domains using a technique called transfer learning. This paper shows how excellent results in classification accuracy can be achieved by applying transfer learning to pretrained convolution neural network. This paper presents the results of the learning transfer of the ResNet-152 convolution neural network on the Stanford Cars dataset. The results show accuracy over 88% only by training the last fully connected layer.

Forms, function, and use of Early Eneolithic pottery and settlement structures from ZgornjeRadvanje, Slovenia

This paper discusses the use of ceramic objects in daily life in the Early Eneolithic period, based on ceramic assemblages from the settlement at Zgornje Radvanje in Maribor. The possible function of individual pottery types was studied through typological analysis, pottery production methods, traces of secondary burning and carbonized residues, and ethnographic parallels. The function of different types of settlement structure is discussed on the basis of statistical comparisons of the composition of ceramic assemblages.V članku razpravljamo o uporabi keramičnih predmetov v vsakdanjem življenju v obdobju zgodnjega eneolitika, na podlagi keramičnih zbirov iz naselbine Zgornje Radvanje v Mariboru.

Zgornje Radvanje, Cluster 10 – a Late Neolithic pit with a structure and smaller pits

Many hollows defined as pit houses are known from the Neo-Eneolithic period. Similar pits were also detected at the Neo-Eneolithic settlement of Zgornje Radvanje. The cluster of pits presented in this paper shows a stratigraphic sequence. One of the phases yielded a structure. Pottery forms, production and decoration are presented for each individual phase. A comparison of pottery forms and decoration with other sites indicates that the earliest pottery assemblages originate from the late Neolithic period.
