Within the last six decades about 200 national, regional, and local floristic inventories, often including distribution maps, for vascular plants in Germany have been published. An overview about the data provided by these publications is given together with a map displaying the coverage of regional and local inventories. A bibliography lists the key data for each publication. Often compiled by skilled volunteer botanists, such floristic inventories constitute an essential database for the compilation of Red Data Books and for species conservation

Neonatal screening: identification of children with 11β-hydroxylase deficiency by second-tier testing

21-Hydroxylase deficiency (21-OHD) is the target disease of newborn screening for congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). We describe the additional detection of patients suffering from 11β-hydroxylase deficiency (11-OHD) by second-tier testing.Over a period of 5 years, screening for CAH was done in a total of 986,098 newborns by time-resolved immunoassay (DELFIA®) for 17α-hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP). Positive samples were subsequently analyzed in an LC-MS/MS second-tier test including 17-OHP, cortisol, 11-deoxycortisol, 4-androstenedione and 21-deoxycortisol.In addition to 78 cases of 21-OHD, 5 patients with 11-OHD were identified. Diagnostic parameters were a markedly elevated concentration of 11-deoxycortisol in the presence of a low level of cortisol. Androstenedione was also increased. In contrast to 21-OHD, concentrations of 21-deoxycortisol were normal.Steroid profiling in newborn blood samples showing positive results in immunoassays for 17-OHP allows for differentiating 21-OHD from 11-OHD. This procedure may not detect all cases of 11-OHD in the newborn population because there may be samples of affected newborns with negative results for 17-OHP in the immunoassay

As a result of the work, a design analysis of the part was carried out, a technological process was developed, equipment for the production of parts was selected, control programs for CNC machine tools were compiled, and adjustment maps were developed for them. The allowances and tolerances for technological dimensions, cutting modes and time norms are calculated. Suggested ways to address the issue of environmental safety. Economic efficiency has been calculated

Floristic inventories and distribution atlases of vascular plants in Germany. Additions for the period between 1945 and 2005 and publications for the years 2006 to 2010. In 2006 a bibliography was published of floristic inventories and distribution maps for vascular plants in Germany for the period 1945 to 2005 in this journal. Here we give an update with new entries for the period 2006 to 2010 together with key data for each publication. Altogether 29 new publications and also new editions and supplements for 22 publications mentioned in the first overview are treated

„Crazy bitch!“ – Erlebte Aggression und Gewalt im Klinikalltag von Kinderärzten

Background!#!The indications for experienced aggression and violence towards doctors in children's hospitals are increasing and are the focus of this study. They are reported in contact with parents or relatives in emotionally highly charged situations caused by their child's illness. This empirical study investigated the extent to which experienced aggressive and violent behavior has been received by pediatricians in their everyday work in hospitals.!##!Methods!#!Data from two previously unpublished nationwide surveys in 2009 (!##!Results!#!Approximately four out of five respondents said they have been the target of an aggressive action by parents or relatives. In 2017 approximately 3 out of 4 respondents (71.0%) considered the problem of aggressive behavior to be relevant to their everyday work compared to only every second respondent (51.9%) in 2009. Individual respondents reported up to 60 situations, in both survey waves at a median of 4.0 times per year.!##!Conclusion!#!Experienced aggression and violence are often and increasingly part of everyday clinical life in the pediatric wards, ranging from insults to physical violence. Prevention strategies, such as preventive training for communication and de-escalation are explicitly desired

Background The indications for experienced aggression and violence towards doctors in children's hospitals are increasing and are the focus of this study. They are reported in contact with parents or relatives in emotionally highly charged situations caused by their child's illness. This empirical study investigated the extent to which experienced aggressive and violent behavior has been received by pediatricians in their everyday work in hospitals. Methods Data from two previously unpublished nationwide surveys in 2009 (n= 160) and 2017 (n= 190) were analyzed. Using the same questionnaire, the forms of aggressive action, such as exerting pressure, insulting, threatening physical violence, attempting to use violence and actually using violence as well as the descriptions of the associated situations were questioned. The wording of the insults and the type of threat could be specified via open questions. Results Approximately four out of five respondents said they have been the target of an aggressive action by parents or relatives. In 2017 approximately 3 out of 4 respondents (71.0%) considered the problem of aggressive behavior to be relevant to their everyday work compared to only every second respondent (51.9%) in 2009. Individual respondents reported up to 60 situations, in both survey waves at a median of 4.0 times per year. Conclusion Experienced aggression and violence are often and increasingly part of everyday clinical life in the pediatric wards, ranging from insults to physical violence. Prevention strategies, such as preventive training for communication and de-escalation are explicitly desired

A case of suspected Escherichia coli-associated meningitis accompanied by human bocavirus detection in the cerebrospinal fluid of a 13-day-old newborn

Introduction: The human bocavirus (HBoV) type 1 is associated with respiratory infections and causes mild-to-severe disease in all age groups. The virus is also associated with infections in other sites, such as the nervous system, but little is known about the disease process. As an animal model is not available to study HBoV pathogenesis, clinical case reports, cohort studies, and cell culture data remain the major sources of information about the virus. Case presentation: This article reports a clinical case of suspected meningitis associated with HBoV-DNA detection in cerebrospinal fluid and nasopharyngeal wash, accompanied by Escherichia coli infection in a 13-day-old male patient. Conclusion: Although an etiological role of HBoV cannot be proven in this clinical case, the observations made confirm those from earlier studies. There appear to be a small number of cases in which HBoV - actively or passively - is able to pass the blood-brain barrier and contribute to clinical disease. Taking into account that there are a large number of neurological cases in which no pathogen can be detected, we suggest that detection of HBoV be included in routine cerebrospinal fluid screening protocols, particularly multiplex diagnostic assays.
