    The amount of information contained in the WEB grows in a galloping way, which is caused by the spread of Internet access and lowering the cost of storing and sharing data across the network. The vast amount of data, impossible to be analyzed by human, is the reason why finding and selecting valuable information has become a serious problem. Due to this situation, a highly useful and desired solution would be the development of a system that would allow continuous monitoring of the WEB and finding for the user valuable information from the selected Internet resources. This paper describes the concept of such a system, along with its initial implementation and application to search for information in the field of foundry industry

    OPTIMIZATION OF SIMULATION MODEL PARAMETERS FOR SOLIDIFICATION OF METALS WITH USE OF AGENT-BASED EVOLUTIONARY ALGORITHM

    The finite elements method (FEM) is currently widely used for simulation of thermal processes.However, one of still unresolved problems remains proper selection of mathematicalmodel parameters for these processes. As far as modelling of cooling casts in forms is concerned,particular difficulties appear while estimating values of numerous coefficients suchas: heat transport coefficient between metal and form, specific heat, metal and form heatconduction coefficient, metal and form density. Coefficients mentioned above depend not onlyon materials properties but also on temperature. In the paper the idea of optimalizationof simulation method parameters based on adaptive adjustment of curve representing simulationresult and result obtained in physical experiment is presented along with the ideaof evolutionary and agent-based evolutionary optimization system designed to conduct suchoptimizations. Preliminary results obtained with use of ABAQUS system available in ACKCYFRONET and software developed at AGH-UST conclude the paper

    The aim of this study is to develop computer tools for calculation of the Fe - Fe3C phase equilibrium diagram. The phase equilibrium diagram is of fundamental importance in materials science and heat treatment processes of ferrous alloys. It enables prediction of carbon steel microstructure in the annealed condition, and facilitates selection of proper temperature for the heat treatment process. Choosing the right values of the heat treatment process parameters is essential in the production of Austempered Ductile Iron (ADI)

Najnowsza wersja tego systemu, zrealizowana w wyniku kolejnych modyfikacji, określona jest nazwą CastExpert++. Artykuł opisuje architekturę systemu i sposób działania z perspektywy użytkownika.The investigations of the CastExpert system have been conducted at the Foundry Research Institute for many years now, including the following: perfecting the internal structure of the system and diagnostic procedures, enriching the knowledge base (including the use of multimedia techniques), perfecting the user interface [1−8], etc. The latest version of this system, developed as a result of further modifications, is named CastExpert++.     ADI after austenitising from intercritical temperature

    ADI subjected to austenitising at intercritical temperatures contains in its matrix the precipitates of pre-eutectoid ferrite. Studies were carried out on the ductile iron of the following chemical composition: C = 3,80%, Si = 2,30%, Mn = 0,28%, P = 0,060%, S = 0,010%, Mg = 0,065%, Ni = 0,60%, Cu = 0,70%, Mo = 0,21%. This cast iron was austenitised at three different temperatures, i.e. 800, 815 and 830ºC and austempered at 360 and 380ºC. For each variant of the cast iron heat treatment, the mechanical properties, i.e. YS, TS, EL and Hardness, were measured, and structure of the matrix was examined. Higher plastic properties were obtained owing to the presence of certain amount of pre-eutectoid ferrite. The properties were visualised using fuzzy logic model in a MATLAB. software

    Badano wpływ przesycania z chłodzeniem mikrostrumieniowym w czasie przesycania oraz modyfikowania C + Ca i CaC2 stopu BA1044 w stanie lanym, przesycanym i ulepszanym cieplnie. Modyfikowanie oraz przesycanie są wyraźnie korzystne w stanie ulepszonym cieplnie dla Rp0,2. Wyżarzanie wysokotemperaturowe pozwala na uzyskanie wyższych wła- ściwości plastycznych, a nisokotemperaturowe wyższych właściwości wytrzymałościowych.The effect of solution heat treatment with jet cooling and modification with C + Ca and CaC2 on the behaviour of BA1044 alloy in as-cast state, and after solution heat treatment and toughening was examined. The microjet modification and solution heat treatment are clearly beneficial for the Rp0,2 in quenched and tempered state. High-temperature annealing enables obtaining higher plastic properties, while low-temperature annealing improves the mechanical properties
