    Single spin asymmetry measurements for π0\pi^0 inclusive productions in p+pπ0+Xp+p_{\uparrow} \to \pi^0 + X and \pi^-+\p_{\uparrow}\to \pi^0+X reactions at 70 and 40 GeV respectively

The inclusive π0\pi^0 asymmetries were measured in reactions p+pπ0+Xp+p\uparrow \to \pi^0+X and π+pπ0+X\pi^-+p\uparrow \to \pi^0+X at 70 and 40 GeV/c respectively. The measurements were made at the central region (for the first reaction) and asymmetry is compatible with zero in the entire measured pTp_T region. For the second reaction the asymmetry is zero for small xFx_F region (0.4<xF<0.1,0.5<pT(GeV/c)<1.5-0.4<x_F<-0.1, 0.5<p_T(GeV/c) <1.5) and increases with growth of xF\mid x_F\mid. Averaged over the interval 0.8<xF<0.4,1<pT(GeV/c)<2-0.8<x_F<-0.4, 1<p_T(GeV/c)<2 the asymmetry was (13.8±3.8)-(13.8\pm 3.8)%.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures; Presented at SPIN-2004 at Trieste, October 10-16,200

Anticorrosive effects and antimicrobial properties of alkyldimethyl(hydroxyalkyl)ammonium bromides

Quaternary ammonium compounds containing the hydroxyalkyl moiety in the head group have been synthesized. These compounds exhibit a micelle-forming ability, high anticorrosive activity, and antimicrobial action. The compounds of the formula R(CH3)2N+(CH2CH 2CH2OH)Br- with R = C14H 29-C18H37 are characterized by a protective effect higher than 90-99% at 10 mg/l with respect to hydrogen sulfide corrosion, inhibiting properties against carbon dioxide corrosion (84-98% at 10-25 mg/l), and bactericidal action on sulfate-reducing bacteria (10-50 mg/l). © 2011 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd

Development of a Momentum Determined Electron Beam in the 1 -45 GeV Range

A beam line for electrons with energies in the range of 1 to 45 GeV, low contamination of hadrons and muons and high intensity up to 10^6 per accelerator spill at 27 GeV was setup at U70 accelerator in Protvino, Russia. A beam tagging system based on drift chambers with 160 micron resolution was able to measure relative electron beam momentum precisely. The resolution sigma_p p was 0.13% at 45 GeV where multiple scattering is negligible. This test beam setup provided the possibility to study properties of lead tungstate crystals (PbWO_4) for the BTeV experiment at Fermilab.Comment: 12 pages, 8 figures; work done by the BTeV Electromagnetic Calorimeter grou

Pion interferometry in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[sNN]=200GeV

    Get PDF
We present a systematic analysis of two-pion interferometry in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[sNN]=200GeV using the STAR detector at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. We extract the Hanbury-Brown and Twiss radii and study their multiplicity, transverse momentum, and azimuthal angle dependence. The Gaussianness of the correlation function is studied. Estimates of the geometrical and dynamical structure of the freeze-out source are extracted by fits with blast-wave parametrizations. The expansion of the source and its relation with the initial energy density distribution is studied

We present a systematic analysis of two-pion interferometry in Au+Au collisions at sNN\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200 GeV using the STAR detector at RHIC. Transverse-momentum dependent modification of dynamic texture in central Au+Au collisions at sqrt(S_NN)=200 GeV

Correlations in the hadron distributions produced in relativistic Au+Au collisions are studied in the discrete wavelet expansion method. The analysis is performed in the space of pseudorapidity (|eta| < 1) and azimuth (full 2 pi) in bins of transverse momentum (p_t) from 0.14 < p_t < 2.1 GeV/c. In peripheral Au+Au collisions a correlation structure ascribed to mini-jet fragmentation is observed. It evolves with collision centrality and p_t in a way not seen before which suggests strong dissipation of minijet fragmentation in the longitudinally-expanding medium.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure, accepted as Phys.Rev.C Rapid Communication. Production of e+ee^+e^- Pairs Accompanied by Nuclear Dissociation in Ultra-Peripheral Heavy Ion Collision

    Get PDF
We present the first data on e+ee^+e^- pair production accompanied by nuclear breakup in ultra-peripheral gold-gold collisions at a center of mass energy of 200 GeV per nucleon pair. The nuclear breakup requirement selects events at small impact parameters, where higher-order corrections to the pair production cross section should be enhanced. We compare the pair kinematic distributions with two calculations: one based on the equivalent photon approximation, and the other using lowest-order quantum electrodynamics (QED); the latter includes the photon virtuality. The cross section, pair mass, rapidity and angular distributions are in good agreement with both calculations. The pair transverse momentum, pTp_T, spectrum agrees with the QED calculation, but not with the equivalent photon approach. We set limits on higher-order contributions to the cross section. The e+e^+ and ee^- pTp_T spectra are similar, with no evidence for interference effects due to higher-order diagrams.Comment: 6 pages with 3 figures Slightly modified version that will appear in Phys.
