    Is FLT3 internal tandem duplication an unfavorable risk factor for high risk children with acute myeloid leukemia? : Polish experience

    According to the AML-BFM 2004 Interim, a treatment protocol used in Poland since 2005, presence of FLT3 internal tandem duplication (FLT3/ITD) qualifies a patient with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) to a high-risk group (HRG). The present study was aimed to identify the prevalence of FLT3/ITD in children with AML in Poland and to evaluate its prognostic significance in the HRG patients. Out of 291 children with de novo AML treated in 14 Polish centers between January 2006 and December 2012, samples from 174 patients were available for FLT3/ITD analysis. Among study patients 108 children (61.7%) were qualified to HRG. Genomic DNA samples from bone marrow were tested for identification of FLT3/ITD mutation by PCR amplification of exon 14 and 15 of FLT3 gene. Clinical features and treatment outcome in patients with and without FLT3/ITD were analyzed in the study. The FLT3/ITD was found in 14 (12.9%) of 108 HRG children. There were no significant differences between children with and without FLT3/ITD in age and FAB distribution. The white blood cells count in peripheral blood at diagnosis was significantly higher (p <0.01) in the children with FLT3/ITD. Over 5-year overall survival rate for FLT3/ITD positive children was worse (42.4%) comparing to FLT3/ITD negative children (58.9%), but the statistical difference was not significant. However, over 5-year survivals free from treatment failures were similar. The FLT3/ITD rate (12.9%) observed in the study corresponded to the published data. There was no significant impact of FLT3/ITD mutation on survival rates, although further studies are needed on this subject

    Porous carbons obtained from poly(ethylene terephtalate) contained in a mixture with either MgCO3 or Mg(OH)2 were examined as adsorbents for removal of humic acid from water. Adsorption of the model contaminants is discussed in relation to the textural parameters of the obtained carbon materials. Pore structure parameters of the carbonaceous materials were strongly influenced by preparation conditions including temperature and relative amounts of the inorganics used during preparations as template. Porous carbons prepared revealed a potential to purify water from the model contaminant of high molecular weight. The results presented confirmed a key role of mesoporosity in the adsorption of humic acid. Fluorescence spectroscopy was confirmed to be an useful method to evaluate concentration of humic acid in water

    The aim of the thesis was to asseses the impact of biological protection on the yields and biometrics of broad bean, Windsor White variety. A field research was conducted in the years 2010-2012 in the Experimental Agricultural Farm in Prusy near Krak贸w. Double-factor experiments were conducted in the random blocks system in three repetitions on a very good wheat complex soil. The following five combinations of the biological protection of broad bean were compared in experiments. Based on the conducted research, it was found that years significantly diversified broad bean yields and biometrics. In 2011, with the most advantageous weather conditions, broad bean yielded the best; it had the highest number of seeds in a pod and, at the same time, the lowest number of sprouts in a plant. The most disadvantageous year, in these terms, was 2012 which was characteristic for the highest deficiency of precipitation. The compared protection combinations demonstrate that adding Polyversum WP biological preparation to seeds before sowing and the application of Bioczos BR agent on leaves twice or four times and Biosept 33 SL once contributes to the significant increase in broad bean yields. Whereas, the coordinate sowing of broad bean with coriander and fennel resulted in the drop in seeds yields, deteriorated yield structure parameters and biometric properties.Celem pracy by艂a ocena wp艂ywu biologicznej ochrony i biometrie bobu odmiany Windsor Bia艂y.     The subject of the study concerns the seeds of broad bean of White Hangdown cultivar derived from the strict field experiment (2010-2012). The experiment consisted of 10 combinations including two alternating rows sowings of broad bean with fennel and coriander, four variants of biological protection using Polyversum WP, Bioczos BR, Biosept 33 SL preparations, and three variants of chemical protection using Vitavax 200 FS, Decis 2.5 EC, Fastac 100 EC, Penncozeb 80 WP. Applied protection variants improved mycological purity of broad bean seeds. The best and comparable results were noted in the combination with the use of seed dressing Vitavax 200 SL, and subsequent triple foliar application of insecticides and fungicides as well as biological dressing Polyversum WP, and four-time spraying with biotechnical preparations. Companion planting of broad beans with fennel and coriander favored seeds colonization by fungi. Especially the neighborhood with fennel enriched the community of fungi present in the seeds of broad beans in Penicillium spp. (34.6%). Irrespective of the protection, Alternaria alternata (28.6%), Botrytis cinerea (12.3%), Epicoccum purpurascens (5.1%) and saprobionts of Penicillium genus (22.3%), were isolated the most frequently.Przedmiotem bada艅 by艂y nasiona bobu odmiany Hangdown Bia艂y pochodz膮ce ze 艣cis艂ego do艣wiadczenia polowego (20102012 r.).     The aim of the study was to compare the health status of biologically protected broad bean sprouts, taking into account differentiated number of biopreparation applications. The field experiments were carried out in the years 2010-2012 at the Agricultural Experimental Farm in Prusy, near Krakow. Evaluation of fungal diseases severity was performed in a 5-point scale in broad bean phase BBCH (70-79). The study demonstrated that hydrothermal conditions significantly modified the occurrence and severity of fungal diseases in broad beans. Windsor White broad bean variety, unlike Hangdown White, is significantly more infested by Botrytis fabae (leaves and pods), and pods also by Uromyces fabae (rust). An increased intensity of broad beans protection using biopreparations reduces the severity of fungal diseases occurrence during the growing season. A significant limitation in chocolate blotch development on the leaves, stems and pods, as well as rust and gray mold on pods, is provided by treatment of the broad beans with Polyversum WP biopreparation, and five times foliar application of natural preparations (4 脳 Bioczos BR + 1 脳 Biosept 33 SL) during the growing period.     The objective of the study was to compare the effect of broad bean protection against fungal diseases, black bean aphid and broad been seed beetle with the use of non-chemical products (Polyversum WP and Bioczos BR) and artificially synthesized preparations (Vitavax 200 FS, Decis 2,5 EC and Fastac 100 EC) on the harmfulness of larvae and beetles of pea weevils. The observations were conducted on broad bean of the Hangown White cultivar. Protection with the use of Polyversum WP and Bioczos BR contributed to reduction of the percentage of leaves injured by pea weevils, the area consumed and, as a consequence, the size of leaf blade loss. The Vitavax 200 FS can contribute to increase the attractiveness of broad bean leaves for adult Sitona spp. and, as a result, decrease the efficiency of later protective spraying. The used broad bean protection, both non-chemical as well as chemical, significantly influenced the decrease of the level of root nodule damage by weevil larvae in only one of three years of the study.Celem przeprowadzonych bada艅 by艂o por贸wnanie wp艂ywu ochrony bobu przed chorobami grzybowymi oraz szkodnikami z wykorzystaniem preparat贸w niechemicznych (Polyversum WP oraz Bioczos BR) oraz preparat贸w sztucznie syntetyzowanych (Vitavax 200 FS, Decis 2,5 EC i Fastac 100 EC) na szkodliwo艣膰 larw i chrz膮szczy oprz臋dzik贸w.
