    Sub-Critical Closed String Field Theory in D Less Than 26

    We construct the second quantized action for sub-critical closed string field theory with zero cosmological constant in dimensions 2≀D<26 2 \leq D < 26, generalizing the non-polynomial closed string field theory action proposed by the author and the Kyoto and MIT groups for D=26D = 26. The proof of gauge invariance is considerably complicated by the presence of the Liouville field ϕ\phi and the non-polynomial nature of the action. However, we explicitly show that the polyhedral vertex functions obey BRST invariance to all orders. By point splitting methods, we calculate the anomaly contribution due to the Liouville field, and show in detail that it cancels only if D−26+1+3Q2=0D - 26 + 1 + 3 Q ^ 2 = 0 , in both the bosonized and unbosonized polyhedral vertex functions. We also show explicitly that the four point function generated by this action reproduces the shifted Shapiro-Virasoro amplitude found from c=1c=1 matrix models and Liouville theory in two dimensions.     Recently, a revolutionary new theory has shaken the foundations of modern physics, introducing bizarre new concepts such as higher dimensions, parallel universes, and the multiverse into science. Vigorously opposed by the Old Guard in physics, it has since become the leading candidate for a "theory of everything" which will allow us to "read the mind of God," as Einstein hoped. Einstein spent his last 30 years struggling to find a single theory which would unify all physical laws, much like his equation E = mc2 united matter and energy. He failed. It would also mean that the "mind of God" is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace. The theory also melds Buddhist and Christian thinking. Buddhists believe in a timeless universe, a 1\irvana with no beginning or end. But Judeo-Christian thinking is based on Genesis, a single moment of Creation. But either the universe had a beginning, or it didn't. There is no middle ground. Until now. In this new theory, universes are constantly being born in an ocean of 11 dimensional hyperspace or Nirvana, like bubbles floating in the air. Hence, we have a beautiful melding of these two theories. In addition, the question now being debated by physicists is: what lies in these other universes? Can we ever reach them? Is there life on these universes? Is there a clone of myself existing in these parallel universes

    We treat the action for a bosonic membrane as a sigma model, and then compute quantum corrections by integrating out higher membrane modes. As in string theory, where the equations of motion of Einstein's theory emerges by setting ÎČ=0\beta = 0, we find that, with certain assumptions, we can recover the equations of motion for the background fields. Although the membrane theory is non-renormalizable on the world volume by power counting, the investigation of the ultra-violet behavior of membranes may give us insight into the supersymmetric case, where we hope to obtain higher order M-theory corrections to 11 dimensional supergravity.Comment: 25 pages, Latex, no figure
